What a wonderful heartfelt review, it seems like you get a time machine with every pair of speakers. I used to own a pair of B&W DM5s along time ago, good memories listening to FM radio and my turntable with them. I'll have to get out and audition the 704s. Y
Wow, you make me want to reconsider B&W again for my upgrade. Are you using radio to listen to your songs? If yes, you should consider getting a streamer etc.
@@liamporter1137 Try to pair with a warm sounding amp. I have had the Cambridge Audio streamer before but unfortunately the radio stations here broadcast at a very low bit rate.
The bowers 700 series are very frustrating speakers. I have the 702 S2 and it demands your entire front end to be the best. Ended pairing it with Parasound A21, P3 and Eversolo A8. Anything below this level and the sound always feel like something is missing. Agreed that the more power you can feed it the better the sound. The speaker will scale inline with your front end equipment. Fustrating speakers indeed. Going to feed it Michi X5 in a few days and if it will scale again.
@singaporepropertycondo I will always keep my S2 class 706(s) bought on sale. The sparkle is precisely correct. You don't need signature series. Just very powerful amplifiers. Play as loud as you want. B&W dampening just means need lots of good power. Doesn't need to be monoblocks just a Emotive DR2 reference differential balanced amp with AudioQuest bi wire Rocket 44(s) speaker cables. Wish those Italian steel sounds had a plate with screws compatible for the 706 S2. Can you believe Amazon sells the 706 S2 for 999.99 USD new.

We all had our moments. The newer S3 is more "warm" . But the S2 is leaner and can be had at a good price now.
I use a Hegel H190 with my 704s2, plenty of power

GREAT EXPLAINATION DAVE 🤗 IT IS ABOUT THE EMOTION ❤ YOU FEEL 🤗 PULLING YOU INTO THE MUSIC 🎼💚💚💚

@@Kittyfoodtour CONGRATS, 🎉🎉🎉YOU HAVE GRADUATED TO THE REAL REASON TO ENJOY MUSIC 🎶😁
My brother used to have the 704 s2 then he moved to 703 s2 now focal 926
So I can tell your brother appreciates high resolution and detailed sound. What amp is he pairing with the 703?

You lucky guy . In Taiwan there's a shop that pairs them with Accuphase. I think they need at least 160w with a strong power supply.
You need a high power audiophile amplifier. Like a Parasound JC5 or Emotiva Reference Differential.
Yes these guys have far greater potential
