This is a very very basic explanation of what happened. The accident report is fascinating. The accident was caused by the ship traveling too fast in too shallow of water which caused "squatting" and the autopilot wasn't set to be able to control the rudder quickly enough to maintain control of the ship. The officer who took over had good intentions but didn't react correctly and made multiple errors that just made the situation worse. Blame was placed on the captain for leaving the bridge when he knew the ship was acting strangely and for not having the correct settings on the autopilot.

I was on this ship. Many people were hurt badly. The most unorganized mayheim I have ever experienced. They never did a head count, there was a lot of glass that shattered and all the pools emptied out into the center of the ship filling the lowest deck. This was the 3rd sailing of this ship - it caused us never to cruise again.

I was on that cruise as well. Only 16 at the time and running around with my cruise ship friends on the top deck when a huge wave of water came and smashed us into the plexiglass. Very intense situation but my family was back on the crown princess a year later for another Carribean cruise. Been on 6 Princess cruises since with no issues sat all and believe it to be the best form of vacation

I was also on this ship. I was 11 at the time and my sister was 6. She was the one critically injured and had to be airlifted off the boat. It was very scary. We were in the middle of the boat where the piano was and all that. None of us have been on a cruise ever again.

I’ve travelled on her twice since this incident with no major problems. This year we had to miss out a port because of engine trouble and one of the interior cabins had a flood. Needless to say I won’t be going on the Crown again. Hopefully in 2022, we’ll be on the Enchanted Princess.

It'd be funny to file a FOIA request on these videos and say that many of them are not considered information release because they are unreadable.
