I'm an old fella who has been lucky enough to have worked in poetry, review writing & literary essays, much of his life. Yes, I know, very fortunate. It was Tolkien who started it all for me. I live in a tiny house with the light of my life (an ex-racer greyhound named Billy-Blue). I adore books, but it's Billy who has saved my life. I empathise with your struggles with depression & anxiety. I am a suicide surviver being treated for PTSD, but Billy has totally transformed my life. Cling to your books & pup. It really is worth sticking around. I also read a lot of fantasy & historical fiction, but poetry is my main passion. I look forward to following your adventures with books. Thanks for the bookish inspiration.
I hear ya about the loneliness - it's hard to find overlap with new 'grown-ups'! Chronicles of Narnia were definitely some of my "intro to more" books as well.
I was recommended this video on my homepage and I'm so happy 💜 You seem so genuine and sweet and I *love* the art behind you too (and your sweater!), haha. Also, your dog is the CUTEST, my goodness 😍
I am grateful the algorithm graced me with your channel. You love all the same genres I do and I love the way you carry yourself. Catching up on all your videos while I work on spreadsheets.
I discovered your channel a few days ago and have really enjoyed the opinions you’ve shared so far. You’ve convinced me to finally pick up Ninth House (from my TBR stack). I’m also a knitter and have been so surprised to learn about your knitting. Love your Caitlin Hunter sweater and the colours you chose for it. You’ve got a real eye for choosing books (and colours) of your knitwear. Looking forward to learning more about your reading taste and sharing opinions. Thanks for sharing and opening the door to a book community - I normally never comment so this video made me reach out, like you!
Aww thank you for the kind words Kate 🥹❤️ I'm very happy to meet fellow knitters as well!! I haven't picked my winter project yet but I'm sure it's going to be another Caitlin Hunter sweater lol! And yay! I hope you enjoy Ninth House!
welcome to booktube!!! this community is truly beyond incredible, the friends you'll make that you normally wouldn't, the exciting events going on to participate in like readathons, and of course finding books that will rock your world lol there is something so special about sharing a traditionally lonely hobby with other people. booktube has changed my life for the better so i hope it does for you too and you have fun doing it
Welcome to BookTube from another small booktuber. I haven’t read much horror yet, but recently I read the Weird Heroes short stories (review on my channel) and found these just brilliant.
Welcome to BookTube. I’m not a resolution person either but I definitely like new starts, goals etc. Happy New Year. I’m very much looking forward to your channel. 😊
I’m in the same boat!! I’m so busy all the time and don’t have the energy to make a huge effort to meet new people, so I don’t get to talk about books as much as I’d like! I also read the Sabriel series, Chronicles of Narnia, but my ride or die love is Redwall by Brian Jacques
“Reading saved me.” Beautiful. Thanks for your candid share. I related to a lot of what I you talked about. For horror, I like Clive Barker. Books of Blood is a good compendium of short stories. Weaveworld was an excellent blend of horror and fantasy. Might be worth a look.
Hi! nice to meet you! I've enjoyed getting to know you a bit through this video. I look forward to watching more of your videos and maybe becoming friends. I hope you are enjoying your booktube channel so far 😃
You’re an introvert, who is into books, and loves dogs? Loving you already, babe. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Good luck with the channel.
Welcome to the booktube community! I love Pillars of the Earth too (I'm starting the Armor of Light finally this weekend!), I'm a big historical fiction reader so let me know if you ever want any recommendations. I spy The Wager among your stack of books which is my current audiobook, I've got about an hour and a half left and I am thoroughly enjoying it! I love all the evidence of crafting in the background of your video... did you knit that sweater? I am a knitter too! And also like doing cross stitch and start sewing/quilting in the last year or so. I'm hoping to start learning weaving and crocheting this year... basically any fibre craft I am interested in haha! All your plants are so pretty!
Thank you so much for all of the kind words ! 🥹❤️ yes! I did knit my sweater! I love meeting other knitters and crafters too :) ! I am not up to date on the kingsbridge series and I want to change that- I've been dying to re-read pillars and world without end for years, maybe this year is the year !
There's always room for one - or one million - more, Peyton! Welcome aboard! Looking forward to the books that you talk about in the new year! And don't worry, the camera shyness wears off pretty quickly (at least it did for me).
I totally understand loneliness. I retired and all my friends have left me except one it is hard to meet people at my age. Books are my friends and I love watching booktube. My family is all gone except for a daughter and she has her own life. I have 3 grandson’s but they don’t live near me. 😊 I read mostly biographies and memoirs. Historical fiction. History and classics.
Just found your channel!! Welcome to booktube! I hope you have an amazing time here! I love the crafty aspect of your channel I also love to crochet/ knit! 🫶
As a big fan of horror films who has moved around a lot and had trouble making friends as an adult (and also struggles with depression), I really connected with a lot of what you said! I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos! The best fantasy series I read this last year was Ken Liu’s The Dandelion Dynasty… a hefty time commitment, but an amazing story with great characters!
Hi, welcome to booktube! You are so sweet and I love your vibes. I recently started my booktube channel and it’s been a scary start but also so fulfilling! I understand how you’re feeling and I’m excited to follow along!
I moved from a city of a million people to a city of 80, so I understand the loneliness. I was lucky to find one person who loves books as much as me, but I do wish I had more people who liked what I liked. Ninth House is one of my favorites! I also loved horror and the one person who talks with me about books hates horror! I’m excited for your channel and to hear more about horror books! Earthings messed me up for days, that ending!!! Keep it up❤
I rounded out the end of the year reading mostly high fantasy, which I loved. And I get titles to read from TH-cam, too. I’m hearing Ninth House in a few places, also, so maybe it’s probably time for me to read that.
@@bookinhand_it's gorgeous! Mine isn't that pretty. I also got back into horror recently, so I wonder if you've read Between Two Fires by Christopher Buehlman. It's a fantasy/horror set in the Middle Ages, not very scary but pretty good imo.
I'm a very simple person so i became a fan as soon as i saw your adorable dog, lol ❤❤. Also, i spy The Wager in your basement book pile - i've been hearing good things about it, have you read it?
A refreshing honest reflection of your passion for reading. You come over as the genuine person that you are. Well done, be proud of yourself.
🥲❤️ thank you !

Welcome, welcome! I'm more on the author-y side of things, but yes to all bookish content!
Welcome Peyton!❤ i can absolutely relate to being a passive observer in the community. I'm an introvert working on being more social this year!

Welcome to the booktube community! I love horror and look forward to watching your channel content. Great video!
Thank you!! Appreciate it 😊
Welcome to booktube. I loved your genuine & vulnerable answer to why you love reading. Reading is such a great escape from our everyday worries!
Also: Earthlings is one of my faves too! So freaking strange and unsettling and fun.
