  • Malaysia announced on Wednesday (July 10) its plans to finalise and sign a comprehensive agreement with Singapore in September to develop a special economic zone (SEZ) between the two countries.
At a press conference following an investment forum for the SEZ, Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli stated that the JS-SEZ will offer the best of both worlds, providing investors with access to Singapore's sophistication and Johor's cost and resource advantages.

Good idea, another engine of growth. So it would be Penang, Klang Valley, Johor and Sarawak. If all these regions grow 7% - 8% per year then will drive the Malaysian economy even more rapid

@@NewmaticKe Still long way to go before next government. Anwar will be in power for 22 years unless there is someone better.

Johor GDP is only RM140bn and will grow 5% - 6% per year which is good whilst SG slows. By 2030, it will probably be RM200bn GDP but, still 1/5 of Klang Valley GDP which is likely to hit RM900bn - RM1tn economy - now already RM700bn.

Hope Spore will not learn the art of being corrupted. For food industry let’s have the strict compliance in Halal certification. Heard about false certificates. Spore should make sure our standard of monitoring and evaluation is being adhered to.
