Yeah... Jan Akkerman is one of my All times favorite guitarist....!!! Focus was a great band....
1974! Colin left early ‘75. Pierre came back for a live tour, and David Kemper was drummer in the studio album of 1975 called Mother Focus.
The genius Akkerman and one of my favorite bands!!
Nice ! Great line up !
I'd like to see the whole gig!
Fantastic !!!!
According to Colin Allen, this was 1974. Saw on another post.
The chord and tonal center being improvised over is NOT a Dmaj7#11 ( lydian) tonality! It is a D dominant 7 chord sometimes morphing into a D7sus chord (C/D ) and uses a Mixolydian key center! The singer does employ a #11 note at one point inferring a Lydian dominant scale.
wow
The mixer guy in the white tee shirt is awesome
that was cool when he emerged from the shadows to place a croissant on jan's speaker cab for after the jam
Bert wearing protective goggles against the torrent of saliva emanating from Thijs's juicy lips. Great playing and production.
what did i just read
Great
Did this improv ever make it into an actual song, especially the guitar parts?

It was all going so well and then Thijs started singing . . . . .
