      Yep, it’s all about enjoying the birds if it ever becomes a hassle, then kind of missing the point of having Pigeons. I’ve been there and you ever want them to become a job.. Hope things are going well with the breeding. Be looking for an update.✌️

    Congrats on the return! Birds look great!👍 Someone keeping your bird could be unintentional. Not everyone that has birds pays as close attention to the birds as others. Had a guy in the club show up to basketing night, handed a bird over to a club member to scan, it wasn’t even his. It had a chip ring on it and he thought it was his, it was from another club.

      Yeah, it’s hard to believe that people have that many birds they don’t know which ones are theirs. I know the moment I have a different bird in my loft but you are correct. It’s happening to a lot of us. Because everyone lost so many birds this year.

      It will take them a few days to get used to the pellets, but a little hunger will help a lot with that. Good luck. I hope it works as for you as it has for me.

    Corn and pellets is great but in racing it makes them super thirsty and hard to get light in weight , but like u said everyone has there own method, u might toss and fly more then I do ...

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Absolutely, everybody has a different take on what works and what doesn’t for me being thirsty in a race is a good thing. They will come home sooner or more likely to take a drink from the truck and you know that always helps. Keep up the hobby, my friend👍

    Exactly you watch them and you will know what is happening. Keep it simple and you will enjoy it. I feed chicken pellets also we don’t have any feed store selling pigeon feed so I found out pellets work great. It has all the vitamins and minerals also 👍👍👍

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, you know it must be healthy if they are giving it to chickens to produce nutritious eggs. Pigeons can make the best of any food but when it’s easily digestible like that and a complete diet, what more could we ask for?

      I can’t see it being intentional someone holding my bird, but it certainly does seem suspicious. When there is a strange bird in my loft, I know it immediately! That bird was gone just about two months Very surprised it showed up. That’s great Homing instinct

    That's right Mike, these are the easiest birds to take care of. They really just need to be approached like a dummy and stop over-intellectualizing them. If you need weeks and weeks to learn a method, then I can assure you, it hardly works and if it makes any difference is it makes the birds worse lol I love it when a bird arrives from months of being AWOL. I always reckon they were on their own. At times from a race they might join up with another breakaway flock and end up in another fancier's loft, but I prefer they get "lost" or go fly-about on their own and learn to survive. When they come back, they really know what's what. yeah I been a subscriber since the days of the white pigeons. I started dominating races in my region when I started asking myself one very obvious question: Why should the pigeons fly hard and fast to my loft. What is their motivation? You think they know you want them to come home fast and nearly fly themselves out of breath over all the other birds just to come to loft and "win a race?"They don't even know they are in a race lol lol That's why I can't win a one loft race, but club races and combines, those I can do something about (when the wind is not out to get me lol) since they are flying home to the loft where something is waiting for them. Something limited and something they all want and something they know if they get home first, they will have most of. I have two feeding calls. One feeding call that's just normal like everybody else and another call that they learnt to associate with raw peanuts. ;-)

    • @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons
      @Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for the great comment my friend, great information. I never thought of a separate call for peanuts, but they’re definitely smart enough to differentiate. Continue winning them races, my friend 👍

    • @Grootman
      @Grootman 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Rocky.Ridge.Pigeons When they know what that call means, you make it when they are loaded in the back of your truck and make sure to pour that peanuts in the feeder. Drive. Let us see if they have their own reason to race to the loft huh?
