Good for keeping rail-mounted accessories zeroed, bad for lack of modularity.

It's a completely unique production gun from a small manufacturer of course it's going to be expensive. I really don"t think he cares about making bank at all right now the Retro world exploded it makes sense to make these and get a payout on production but he wont all about his XCR that no one needs. There are a bunch of great opportunities right now for retro guns and not many are capitalizing on them. The problem is the leadership of most firearms companies. • @AnonEMus-cp2mn
      @AnonEMus-cp2mn 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree wholeheartedly with the need for coverage and when I owned one from 2015-2018 I truly loved it. Overall I still regard the XCR-L with having the smoothest charging handle, most solid action, the most efficient ejection system, and the simplest barrel-change system (with no noticeable zero shift) out of any multi-cal rifle to date. But there were a few issues that eventually lead me to sell it (and a .300 conversion kit with it). I feel like it would be irresponsible for me to not inform you about a few issues I had.
      1.) _5.56 Suppression._ A 16" barrel with a Sig762QD suppressor on the lower gas settings still had backpressure that redirected gasses through the receiver gap, which happens to be right in front of the shooter's eye. Despite sporting a very adjustable gas piston system and having superb ejection, it had more gas to the eye than an AR. This can be remedied with tape or silicone sealant on the receiver, but without it this was a glaring problem. .300 had no issues whatsoever and was a dream to shoot.
      2.) _Overall weight and dimensions._ Since getting into suppressed shooting, front weight and profile become big factors when optimizing a fighting rifle. While the magazine sits very close to the chamber, this geometry comes at the cost of having the barrel sit 0.5" further forward than an AR. When every inch comes into play (especially when a suppressor is involved) it is one of those things you begin to notice. The same can be said for the weapon's forward balance point.
      3.) _Recoil._ Despite being one of the heavier 5.56/.300 rifles, the piston recoil caused the weapon to have more noticeable climb than ARs of similar barrel length and suppressor weights. While I'd hate to be picky about this obvious drawback of piston systems, this factor coupled with heavier weight and a lack of gas mitigation didn't add up when considering this weapon system for a serious role. To it's credit the long-stroke piston system did run cleanly and reliably.
      4.) _The Stock._ I regarded the Type II stock as the best I've ever seen in 2013 due to its slim profile and solid construction. It was easy to adjust and absorbed recoil well, but its flaw is that the locking surfaces would sheer themselves down over time, making the stock loose. (Something Sig's MCX stock hinge addresses) Rob Arm's solution to this was a set screw you'd loosen and make the stock lock up tight. Only that it would 'tighten' the gap by forcing the stock hinge open rather than pulling it shut. In essence it would lock the stock in a position where it wasn't fully closed. A crooked stock, even by a few millimeters is not in-line whatsoever. Electrical tape on the locking surfaces remedied this because they locked the stock by forcing the hinge closed and protected the surfaces from wearing out further.
      4.) _Upgradability._ The XCR is an excellent $2000 gun, but it has no means of becoming greater than that. Despite delivering in ways the ACR and SCAR couldn't, its lack of aftermarket support severely hinders any way of making this excellent weapon become greater. No triggers, few stock options, and no means of shaving the weight. It just felt like a dead end when I really tried to make it outcompete ARs.
      I wish you the best in your next purchase and hope you don't find yourself in a similar love/hate relationship with your rifle of choice. If you do get an XCR-L then you should be just fine for what it's worth. Good luck!

    That is such utter BULLSHIT. The M96 isn't HALF as good as a Stoner 63. Unless you like a gun that WILL break it's bolt at some random time in the future. Unless you like a gun whose fire selector can't be operated from the shoulder. Unless you like a gun that can't keep the Q.D. barrel in the trunion half the time. Unless you like a gun whose trigger group can't even hold itself together without a bunch of cotter pins....etc. etc. etc. Materials and workmanship aside, the design isn't NEAR what a real Stoner is and internally is NOTHING like a true Stoner 63.

    Will any of these firearm manufacturers ever remember those of us in the "middle class" and build some quality offerings in these models, among others, that are affordable? There's no way myself, or many of my friends, will ever be able to chunk down $1000-$2500 on most of these new products being shown. The manufacturers are pricing themselves right out of a huge portion of possible customers...and that doesn't make a whole lot of "business" sense to me. Or, maybe I'm just being delusional...idk.

    Oh and why do y'all use a proprietary lower on the XCR anyway? Is it necessary? Don't you think you'd sell more if it worked on a regular-ass AR lower and you sold the upper by itself? Also, don't you think it'd make sense to drop KeyMod like everybody else has? It's over, M-LOK won. Unless you're contract bound you're not winning any sales by sticking to KeyMod.

    Right. So instead of making parts and components for those of us believed your hype and bought one in the 90's you are just putting together parts to sell off the remaining stock of components. Now you will have 200 new customers who hate you because spare parts and service for the M96 will remain unavailable. Every one of those 200 rifles will remain a safe queen for fear of breaking the weapon and not being able to get it fixed. Not impressed.

    Seems perfectly reasonable.
    We’re going to scrape together all of the remaining parts that we have left and sell those guns to the public at a vastly overinflated price, and once those are gone that is it!
    So in essence as with the previous generation of this rifle, if a part breaks on your shiny new stoner 63 clone you will be the proud owner of a $3000 paperweight.
    Lots of luck guys.

Makes no sense that the average joe that only has under $1000 to spend on a gun has no other choice then a ar15 or Ak variant. I can almost guarantee that the company that starts making a mass quantity of other weapons like mp5s, AUGs, retro rifles, etc. and sells them at a reasonable price will dominate the market.
