Interesting and it's a shocker to learn that the first convert to Islam in the region was a Mech chieftain, who lived in the 13th century. As a betrayer, it appears he was boycotted by the larger Mech (Boro tribe of current day North Bengal) society. There is no trace of Islam among the modern day Meches/Boros. All the Meches who converted along with Ali Mech and helped Bakhtiyar Khilji's soldiers may have eventually adopted a different language and culture altogether. The indigenous desi muslims of Assam are possibly their descendants.
There are no indigenous desi muslim....it is a history made out of thin air by congressi historians to settle Muslims in assam and use them as vote bank. Listen to the speeches of ajmal... I have seen many muslims of barpeta and dhubri area writing baruah hazarika etc(which were ahom military posts strictly reserved for upper caste hindus) The funny thin is most of these muslims cant even speak assamese properly. If you see a muslim in assam be 100% sure he is a migrant...if he speaks proper fluent assamese be sure he is a new gen of old generation migrants who grew up in assam. All of them want assam to be converted to an islamic state.
I am a Kamrupi and my ancestors did this. But we are not bigots. The POW were well respected and settled in local lands. There were no communal feelings.

The matter is it's proved from his royal court scriptures that he returned to Nadia and defeated Bakhtiyar Khilji along with his Turkic forces brutally. After his son Biswarup Sen & Keshav Sen ruled Bengal, defeated Khiljis and hold the title _सगर्गयवनान्वयप्रलयकालरुद्र_

Khens were not koch..dont make absurd claims. Khens are just any other ordinary kamrupi. Koch are tibeto burmans who migrated to assam...they have no link to any indic language like axomia or sanskrit.. Pritus court language was kamrupi prakrit ie axomia/assamese. All extractions are found written in kamrupi prakrit around his reign . After prithu...kamatapur was ruled by sandhya...at one point of time kamrup broke into many small pieces and kamata was looked after by bhuyans(landlord)..but then after many years they passed it to koch. Koch has no link with khen or prithu.
Koch couldnt rule kamata which was given to them by the bhuyans... Koch kingdom broke.. Hajo which was always a part of kamrup...stayed with kamrup. Koch behar which was a part of bengal ruled by koch became slave of mughals
