The Japanese fighter absolutely dominated the range with his karate in and out style, Seksan was drawn into his game plan and didn’t engage in clinches which was never going to end well when fighting karate practitioners.
Important for Thai boxers to use their kicks to cut off the movement of karatekas and TKD fighters. Asahi restricted Seksan’s left leg early knowing this, and Seksan didn’t attempt to use it much even though Asahi’s stance left his lead leg in particular exposed to it. He followed him desperately looking to land after getting hurt instead of logically controlling the ring to find and return damage. Bit of an amateur mistake by someone of Seksan’s caliber but against world class competition it’s easy for viewers like us to criticize them because we’re not fighting. He showed a lot of heart at the end there.
@@justsomebird4285 Idk if Asahi's lead leg being exposed mattered because the bladed stance allows him to move backwards fast to avoid the leg kicks but then again I don't see what else he could've done besides closing the distance and forcing the clinch like the OP said.
@@ramanmonkey it just means it’s harder for him to check the kick. But it also means, yes, like you said, he can move back faster, but he could also side kick from that position faster, and side kicks have more range than teeps. He knew to use his style against the Thai properly.

This kind of gloves is not fitting for stand up martial arts, because it obviously can cause unnecessary injuries to the eyes and what not. I think there is a reason that in regular Muay Thai they use boxing gloves like in boxing.
