    Ariel Henry came to power after foreign governments lobbied for him to be appointed prime-minister, and then the president was assassinated and Ariel centralised power. Ariel continuously prevented investigation into the assassination, and most people believe he did it. The government was already devolving into chaos before its final member, Ariel, was prevented from returning

    Perhaps the best that we can hope for in Haiti is that these gangs end up being a bottom-up government, providing some measure of protection to the population within the areas they control. Look up the "stationary bandit" theory of the history of governments, for example. And compare the Mafia as an example of a kinda-sorta benevolent gang. Are any of the gangs in Haiti positive forces? Probably not. But the doesn't mean that they couldn't be.

    I'm trying to think of how I could fit into those audience interests based on other channels I watch (which would be how TH-cam decides these things.)
    Real Estate- I watch a lot of tiny homes type content because it's interesting, but also NYC apartment tours out of morbid fascination at the price to space ratio that's way out to lunch.
    Home Appliances- I watch the channel Technology Connections, and I always find other fans of that channel in the comments everywhere I go so I can't be alone, and he has put out multiple high view count videos about two of his pet topics: why modern dishwashers don't use modern detergent effectively, and why heat pumps are the way of the future.

    Its so odd because when I consider the history of the new world; imperialism and colonization and such, it's hard for me to see any current regime as the "rightful government"when so many were born of violent revolutions or conquered by foreign interest. To me it feels like a lot of countries in the new world are ruled by former "gangs"(my home country of U.S.A included) . Like, at what point do they stop being seen as gangs, rebels, terrorists, and begin being called a militia? Is it numbers? Level of organization? Or is it just a matter of time and perspective?

      It’s a running joke on this channel, Toycat always says “Hi-tee” although he knows the correct pronunciation. There are a few others, with Greenland he says “Green-land” instead of “Green-lund”, for Abkhazia he says “Ab-skay-zia” instead of “Ab-kah-zia”, for Heligoland he says “Hel-jee-o-land” instead of “Hel-ee-go-land” and I’m likely forgetting a few. I believe most of these were from when he first started the channel as a teenager and genuinely didn’t know how to pronounce them, but since then it’s become a running joke.

    I wonder why the US doesn't go there and restore order so that the people can be safe/have a lawful body to govern them, in the same way that they tried to do for Afghanistan. But I guess they probably won't because Haiti doesn't have oil.

    • @geridamas935
      @geridamas935 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      No because it'll end up exactly like Afghanistan, as soon as troops leave, the provisional government will collapse. Might as well skip that step and have Haiti devolve, and hope it can be solved internally with some foreign aid (food,medicine).
