Actual on site filming, he actually cared for second channel
He cared for Gibraltar which says a lot since I do not think majority of Europeans and British know its an actual country
A cynic might say he fancied going to Gibraltar so he made it a tax-deductible business expense 😅
Second channel don't care (unless it's a tax deduction to)

yeah, i was looking for this comment xD
To be fair in other parts of the anglosphere we drive on the right. America and Canada are on the normal side of the road

Hello, sir, can I help you? -> No, I’m just checking the menu to determine whether Gibraltar is more Spanish or British. 😂
It is fun to watch, even if the channel owner is getting older from first time I watched him, when he went amazed over the border between Norway and Sweden for some reason - still is as exited as he ever have been over borders and how borders can connect all sorts of places. Keep up the good work, it is seldom one watch someone so existed over borders and maps.
This video is right up my alley. Even down to checking out the McDonald's menu. I never eat McDonald's at home but love to check it out when traveling abroad
I think this video crossed the line ToyCat. You clearly cared while making this video. While it was an amazing video, I am upset and feel betrayed. I expect less effort next time.
I think the bus fare was so cheap 'cause the spanish government implemented an economical help package around 2023 which made public transport way cheaper (I went from paying 3,3€/trip to 1,3€/trip)
Exact same thing is still in place across England
@@Nooticusnah England is defo not cheap u must be mistaken
@@LondonMoneyCashEnterprise bus fares are like a flat fare of £1.50 nationwide and have been for the last 2 years almost now. you must be mistaken. look it up.
@@Nooticus it’s £1.75 in London which I don’t consider cheap at all, they’re looking to increase it further. You are right about subsidies for the uk but not for London
No, what happened is the Government decided to subsidise bus fares to a maximum of £2 single-ticket but does not apply in London (on TfL-services), In Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, so not a nationwide flat fare of £1.50.
In London, TfL already controls the fares (since 1933/formation of the London Passenger Transport Board [LPTB]) under the direction of the Mayor of London but only for tickets valid on services run under contract to "London Buses Limited".
I agree that it is not particularly cheap though as £1 = ~ €2.32 or US$2.54 assuming that the Spanish government truly is subsidising fares at €1.30 (either way that's a bargain)
This is one of the most enjoyable videos you’ve put out recently Toycat! Pointing out Africa and Europe really put into perspective how strategic it is geographically :) Unsubscribed. Too much effort for a 2nd channel video. Not what I come here for.
real
As a Philadelphian I am so, so proud you wore the Wawa hoodie. Thank you so much.
Why you proud of that?
I was kinda baffled he had a WaWa hoodie 💀. I didn’t think England had WaWas. It would be like if he wore a quick trip hoodie or a bucees hoodie tbh
You were 10min away from Ceuta by helicopter ( Algeciras - Ceuta is one of the few Comercial helicopter lines in the world), you should go back and check Ceuta!
Of course it has to be noted that when you’re looking across the straights from Britain’s Iberian enclave, you’re looking at Spain’s own African exclave of Ceuta.
I’m not sure how easy it would be, but visiting both Gibraltar and Ceuta in the same trip would make for quite an interesting video
That’s pretty much why Spain can’t really do much about Gibraltar. Morocco would lose their shit.
@@ccf3294 yep and Spain in-turn supports Morocco’s control of Laayoune and Dakhla, so there is a chain of self-reinforcing partnerships between Britain, Spain, Morocco, as well as France and America.
Actually the mountain he showed in the video was in Morocco, but if you look a little to the left from there (irl) you can also see Ceuta
Bro, you didn’t even go to Morrison’s! Clearly the most British thing in Gibraltar.
Wawa sweatshirt in Gibraltar? That must be a first in history! 😂😂
Definitely make more on site videos‼️
04:54 you wrongfully gave that Europe point to the UK. A little bit of British bias going on there mate, eh? 😅
Do the Spanish cities of Ceuta and Melilla in North Africa
yes but they are legally spanish
Gibraltar is also legally british but that wont change some peoples mind on the matter
Having been to Gibraltar only recently, regardless of the legal status, it is clear that Gibraltar is neither Spanish nor British, but Gibraltarian.
@@darrenmurray861 It's like Hong Kong not british and not chinese
fun fact: oranges are a hybrid between mandarines and grapefruit and somehow the result of this hybridisation produces one of two different hybrid species - the sweet orange we're used to; and the bitter orange that grows there in Seville, which is mostly just used in processed form like marmelade and i think orangeat
12:14 In case anyone is wondering: the Liechtensteinian McDonald's is a swiss McDonald's.
And the Andorra one is Spanish:(
Basically cuz the locals were asked "Do you wanna go back to being part of Spain and being spanisha again?" And most of them said "Fuck No".
They ran a "Plebiscito".
Awesome and informative video! Now do Tristan da Cunha :)
It would be one way to get him off the internet for a while. Since it's only accessible by boat. That WAS your intention wasn't it?
11:44 are we just not gonna question how or why or anything related to how these two rivals are just sitting right next to each other McDonald’s and Burger King seems like they’re in the same building too but that’s probably just an illusion because the McDonald sign is behind the building I’m guessing.
Close but definitely not the same building
I thought that was normal?
Great transition from 2nd to 3rd channel content :D
great transition to allow me to talk about @AndrewAndrews, the premiere source of in real life toycat content!
How timely considering I just planned a trip through Spain and Portugal including a 2 day stop in Gibraltar. As someone exclusively subscribed to Toycat’s 2nd channel, I love this! More on location videos like this!
I seen a thing on a wanted criminal in UK who fled to Spain on the lam... but when he realised the net was closing he swam over the gap, walked up the beach and surrendered himself to the British authorities instead. That was very smart move cos he avoided all the extradition process and being stuck in a Spanish prison for months while it went thru.
Are Spanish prisons bad ? It’s not like a Mexican prison is it ? I thought Europe was at least a second world continent
Great to see something like this on the second channel rather than the third

Give way sign isn't Stop sign in other countries, it also means Give way. Stop sign that is used in the UK is also used in other countries, it does have the same shape and it also says Stop on it.
Nice Wawa hoodie! Are you from the Philadelphia region?
On second thought, this is a silly question. You're obviously from the U.K. It's just that most people from outside my area have no idea what Wawa is, let alone someone from a different continent.
Listen to his accent and take a wild guess
I made this comment right before I went to bed lol
Crown Dependencies and Over seas Territories aren't part of the UK.
Unlike France who's Over Sea Territories are fully part of France the British ones are all self governed and apart from in international deplomacy and defence they are free from interference by the British government.
... what country are they a part of? France integrates them fully, but not fully integrated doesn't mean not a part of
Yes, they are legally part of the UK, they just have autonomy.
@@ibx2catthey are a part of Northern Macedonia.
@@ibx2cat They're just not part of any country proper - they are territories governed by the UK. I know you've addressed this before, Toycat, and that you don't like making the distinction, but it's not much effort to make it. What next? Puerto Rico has actually been part of the US this whole time?
BOTs are not like French departments, I would rather you called them what they are.
@@ibx2cat They're territories which aren't recognised as countries and as such is why they aren't represented in the UN. Just like The Isle of Man, it's linked with but not a part of the UK.
Not being integrated by definition would mean they're not part of the country.
This is also the reason why British citizens don't have the automatic right to reside in the Oversea Territories.
Surprisingly fun and wholesome travel blog. Can't wait for the episode where Andrew colonizes Haiti for the British crown during its instability without a formal President.
Spanish McDonalds sell beer as an option when you buy a meal deal, British ones don’t. So the best way to work it out is: can you buy a beer in a Gib McD’s?
Yes you can.
The remainder of the British Empire. after the Decline and Fall of the British Empire, the British still own rather a few territories around the globe.
I live in Gib and would descibe it as a British themed Disney park in the south of Spain. Government and professionals speak English but most of the service workers migrate over the border from economically depressed La Linea and speak hardly any English. Eventually I think it'll turn into an approximation of Monaco and is already a proto version of it with the filthy rich in the marina on their yachts.
I'd add to that a 70s British theme park lool
Well said, I live in Seville and I’m Spanish and American. I’ve gone to Gib several times and it’s like a theme park for whenever I want to visit something like the U.K but without spending the money time and effort to go to the U.K. Very nice place!
Can the UK really spread across every continent if it's not actually attached to every continent and just islands? (this is a joke, I may just be unfunny but this made myself laugh)
2:49 The Wawa hoodie!!!!! ❤
yeah im in shock
The music went hard I be vibin'
Toycat, are flights to Gibraltar cheaper than flights to Malaga for you since it’s technically a domestic flight?
I only ask because I live in San Diego USA where you can get a flight to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico for about $300 round trip. If you use the Cross Border Express and fly out of the Tijuana airport, it is about $100 round trip since it becomes a domestic flight.
Its actually the opposite lol
It's quite simple really. Spain sentenced the entire population of the Netherlands to death, for heresy, and sent an army to carry it out. They were stopped by a coalition of allies, Britain among them, and as part of the surrender agreement, Spain ceded Gibraltar to the UK, "in perpetuity"- FOR ALL TIME, in other words. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
"Wow, their butts are SO ugly"
**proceeds to zoom in**
1. Australia isn’t a continent
2. The Pitcairn Islands is in Oceania, so yes it’s in every continent
Australia is usually considered a continent in English-speaking countries (as well as here in Russia), while Oceania is a ‘geographical region’/‘part of the world’.
Thank you for showing me around Seville! Ya'll should read 'Digital Fortress' by author Dan Brown, some of it takes place in Seville, Spain.
Why did driving on the right side of the road give a british flag?
In was in Gibraltar when this video came out lmao
Someine from the northeastern US here- WHY DO YOU HAVE A WAWA SWEATSHIRT???
I love gas station merch
Was 2022 in Sevilla, stranded for a day in Lisbon 😅

You say "sorry Australia" but the Australian head of state is the British king or queen
If you come to Canada, AKA Victoria British Columbia- the Americans can take a choice of a few ferries from Washington state ( Seattle ) to the city and spend the day in what they consider Britain... sort of. The Monkee love was quite funny ! g
I have been to Victoria actually
Why did you give a flag point to the UK when you said “and they drive on the right hand side of the road like in mainland Europe”?
2nd channel
don't care
The real question is do they speak Spanish, English or British ? If they speak Spanish then they’re Spanish, English then they’re international or American and if they speak British then they’re English
Loved this third channel style video. So fun and well edited.
Also i cant believe you’re actually going to go to Haiti… i thought it was a joke lol… Good luck i guess !

Gibralter is not a colony.
I’ve been watching you for years I don’t know why I’m shocked to discover you aren’t just a head and shoulders in the corner of the screen???
Interesting oranges trees. I'm from Argentina and many cities here have those trees normally close to the main square. But they are not oranges, I can't remember, even in Spanish, what their name is. Now I don't know if the orange trees are a Spanish thing that brought here to South America 🤔
Don’t touch wildlife.
The UK has two European colonies. The other is Northern Ireland.
Love the Wawa hoodie! Orange trees growing just as street trees also interested me in a trip to Nice, France. They look great. I live in Florida and now wonder why we don’t do that?
Americans don’t like female trees. They’re explicitly banned in most cities foliage departments. That’s why we have so much pollen. Since the 1950s the lawncare departments in every American city has been instructed to plant male trees so we don’t have to clean up rotting fruit on the sidewalks everywhere. This means come spring the trees are gizzing everywhere with their yellow clouds of tree cum. That’s why pollen season wasn’t bad in past decades but now it causes giant yellow hazes in every major metropolitan region 🫠. I get the cities didn’t want to clean up fruit but they created a new problem. Now arborists think they should’ve planted only female trees but not let any pollinator trees near them so that the females couldn’t grow fruits to drop. That’s why we have no female trees on the sidewalks
Next video pitcairn island!!
Another British colony in Spain is the British holiday resorts there
A big chunk of my province, Alicante, may be considered another British colony haha
Rest in piece British Mallorca
also this is about Gibraltar
Spain wants Gibraltar…bit hypocritical as they have a piece of North Africa on the other side of the Gibraltar strait which they nicked off Morocco…..
It's mad how Spain gets mad about Gibraltar, but Spain themselves hold on to Ceuta and Melilla
(Northern) Ireland is the OG UK colony 😢😂
Ireland dates its colonisations back to the Normans which would mean that England was the original colony then Wales then Ireland.
I’ve crossed two international borders by foot: Italy-Vatican, France-Monaco
The British sure do own a lot of islands that piss their neighbors off
Don't know if its all of them, but a lot of them have voted to stay with us, so its not like we're keeping them by force...

Gibralter (Jabal Tarik), named after the man who conquered Spain
Jabal Tariq means mountain Tariq. Jabal Tariq is the original Arabic name.
Gibraltar should be handed back to Spain as some kind of special dual nationality territory. It makes no sense at present.
kinda reminds me of the luxembourg & germany river border, which is considered to be apart of both countries at the same time
Spain controls the south of the straights in its own enclave of Ceuta, so it all balances out (even for Morocco, which is missing Ceuta and Melilla but has gained Laayoune and Dakhla through cooperation with Spain and the west)
The locals are British and have a right to self-determination. They voted overwhelmingly to stay entirely British and rejected the notion of Spanish, or joint Anglo-Spanish sovereignty.
I don't see why it should be seen as an issue. It isn't like no other territory in the world ever changed hands either - that's often how the present people of many countries gained their territory. Spain itself was taken from the Moors, so I fail to see why the similar principle does not apply to Gibraltar after Spain ceded it.
@@ThePurplePassage good point, this is true of the other territories mentioned as well

Achivement unlocked: going outside
In August 2017 I drove, about 6:30 AM to around 9 AM from La Linea de la Concepcion using the A-381 and AP-4, all the way to the Santa Justa station and dropped off my rental car. The sun did not rise until 7:30 AM. I was staying two days in Gibraltar at the time. It was a bit hot, temps getting up to +35 degrees, and the aircon not functioning quite as well as it should. I went to more local places, avoiding McDonald's. On the Spanish side, for breakfast I had some toast and I thought the spirit of the late Andrew Sachs had been working in the kitchen - hence the extra butter chips on my toast plate (Mr. Fawlty: "Manuel, there is too much butter, on those trays!"). It was a good visit overall, all the same.

The Empire isn’t what it used to be.
I like your Wawa hoodie. It's a Philly thing. For those curious-- Wawa is a convenience store chain located in the broader Philadelphia Metro. It's name comes from a local Native American tribe in a rural section of Pennsylvania called Wawa. The name honors the tribe's favorite game, the Canada goose.
