We've found that 3M aluminum foil tape works best. You can crimp down pretty well on the tape to ensure good contact between the main fuse and leader fuse. And with it being metal, the tape acts as a good heat conductor to make even further sure the leader fuse ignites.
@tumbledmesh332 HDPE it doesn't throw shrapnel out if one does blow in the tube. DO NOT use PVC EVER. I've seen videos of it sending razor sharp shrapnel at people when something goes wrong.
I hooked mine up with one zip tie, some I taped. a lot of work. Hoping for a great show, but for some reason the fused lit but the mortar fuse didn't light. I ended up lighting 40 mortars by hand. Deeply disappointed. What went wrong?
Hard to say. Perhaps moisture in the fuse? Was it humid on that day? Maybe the zip tie was too tight? Did you trim the fuse at a 45 degree angle? There are so many factors that could have gone wrong I cannot give you a clear answer.
I bought this similar rack and this was helpful. Would paperclips work also to hold fuses together? Like laying one fuse on the previous one and just holding in place with paperclip.
I am wanting to buy some 3" and 4" mortar tubes (I have a shopping cart ready to go on your site) but finding racks to accommodate those sizes is very hard. Any recommended resources to get this done?
..if u have the tubes or buy them..racks looks easy enough to build..im sure theres diy tutorials on youtube..just looks like 9 pieces of small wood and nails?
Yes, HDPE tubes. You can't buy HDPE at Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. It's a special order product and you usually need to buy thousands of feet at a time. The best way order tubes is order them online and they ready to go. I'd recommend www.pyroboom.com
Nice video. Good instruction We don't have time for zip ties in pro shows. We us good old masking tape. Tom D.International Fireworks Mfg.Douglassville, PA
Great tutorial and I love the art on your rack!
Thanks!

The nail clipper tip was worth watching the video. Thanks
Thank you for that. I wonder if there is a video where I can watch it burn?
Thanks for the tutorial this is what I wanted to know. How you fuse this stuff together.

I'd not recommend paper clips. We sell 100 zip ties for about 80 cents. I'd also consider using tape. Just about any tape works.
What are the dimensions and wood size for the rack?
17.5" wide, about 10" tall and about 3.5" wide (w/o the base).
I came to c what was painted on the rack very cool chicken lol I always start with the last shell and work backwards dunno why lol
what size tubing should you use? is it dependent on the size motor? like you not want to put a 1" mortar in a 2"tube... or does that not matter?
The tubes should be DR11 HDPE. These work with all consumer shells (1.75").

Pyroboom sells 3 and 4 inch racks
Can I use one zip tie instead of two?
You can, but you are reducing the risk of losing your passfire. I'd not recommend it.
@@PYROBOOM alrighty thanks ima use 2 zip ties 👍 thanks for the tips
This was awesome thank you very much!
Are those HDPE tubes? If so where can i buy them at? Home Depot?

great technique thanks
Thanks!
I like yellow 4 second fuse for launching cans one right after the other. I think the 10 second fuse is way too slow
Where can I buy the same rack
You can buy a plain wooden rack from www.pyroboom.com Custom paint job like this was done by a friend. Thanks!
New sub
What size fuse do you use 2mm or 3mm?
I'd use 3mm or 1/8 fuse, but really it does not matter, as long as it passes fire.
Instead of using a leader fuse, why not just do fuse to fuse? Seems like it's long enough
If the leader fuse is long enough, then you sure can do that.
thx 4 the vid
Thanks!
