- Sun political columnist Brian Lilley talks about a recent video of a steelworker in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, who confronted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on his record of not doing enough for the working people. Meanwhile, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre released an ad with a message of hope.

What BS? I'm not a JT fan but the guy complained about not having a doctor, which is a PROVINCIAL issue, ie. Doug Ford. He complained about 40% in taxes but that's not true because that study has been 100% debunked. He said he doesn't have dental benefits but working for Algoma and only paying $50/visit means he 100% has dental benefits. People can hate on JT all they want but if you're gonna use bogus lies to try and 'gotcha' him face to face, come with some FACTS and not nonsense.
Put the hat back on. The Steelworker’s BS is worse than Trudeau’s:
1. If he does pay 40% in income tax, he makes $246k. That’s just the way the tax code works. So, he’s either lying about paying 40% or feels that rich folks shouldn’t pay more. Either way, not a good look.
2. He pays $50 to see the Dentist… as part of Algoma Steel’s Dental Plan. Which has nothing to do with the National Dental Plan.
3. Not having a Doctor in Algoma is a Provincial responsibility. Ontario pays the Doctors and licenses them.
4. He’s supporting a guy that has voted against Workers Rights/Unions for 20 years. Voting records are public. He just has to look them up.

Things won't change under the Conservatives. It's not how Canadian politics work. I am a low income earner, and my life has improved under the Liberals. I talk to other low income people that I know, and they all fear another Conservative government because the Conservatives make changes that benefit the richest third of Canadian earners and not the lower two thirds.
Remember that the Conservatives said that NAFTA was going to be great for the Canadian economy? It didn't benefit workers. I killed Canada's manufacturing sector. Killed unions and drove down wages and benefits while raising the pay of the highest page individuals to new heights.
And let's not forge about the housing crisis. That falls squarely on the shoulders of the Conservatives who came up with the plan that housing could be the backbone of the Canadian economy, and to make it so, let's allow everyone to buy a house and to hell with the banking checks and balances. We cry because under the Liberals house costs have gone up 100%. But they went up far more than that under the Conservatives before them. I bought a townhouse in 2000 for 40,000. In 2015 it was listed for 260,000, sold for 250,000. Now that townhouse's estimated value is 450,000. So I don't blame the Liberals.
As for the CO2 tax. If the Conservatives can it, they will have to come up with a new scheme because Canada's economy relies on exports, and many of the countries Canada trades with are now adding tariffs to products made in countries that are not meeting their climate accords. Axing the CO2 tax would harm Canada in other ways. And the Conservatives know this because they are no better than Liberal-lite.

Pierre has stated many times that our immigration system is flawed and that if elected he’d reduce immigration to match the amount of available jobs and housing. So if we don’t have adequate housing or jobs, we won’t have immigrants….

If conservatives are in power there will be incentive for you to earn more as you will take home more. Well Im a senior citizen in small town southern ontario and I cant even walk my dog at 7a.m. anymore.Last 2 years the amount of druggies wandering around has increased exponentially.I dont feel safe,so Pierre's message was spot on.

I am in NB and do not feel safe walking around my city anymore by myself when I used to my whole life. I know it will never go back to what it was before but it would be nice to get some feeling of safety back.

Spending billions in Ontario as usual . Forget the rest of Canada just buy those seats in Ontario . Look at the 40% increase in government jobs at double the cost of running the government and where the majority of those jobs and costs are Ontario .
I think you didn’t do well in geography class. The grift is one Provence further east. Ontario has close to half of Canada’s population and gives as good as it gets. Meanwhile La Belle Provence gets most of that western tax money and the majority of federal jobs go to Quebecers who work in office buildings in Hull which are owned by Liberal cronies. Their free post-secondary education system and many other social programs are paid for by the 50 billion per year in transfer payments from the west. Meanwhile, Quebec won’t even allow a pipeline to carry western oil across their province to be refined in New Brunswick. They bend the west over twice on that one.
