Just finished this lovely podcast! :) Keys things to take from here: * Make the most of your vacation time by enhancing your skills through courses or internships. * Build your network by constantly being in touch with people so that whenever an opportunity arises, you’re the first person they think of. * Young aspirants applying for jobs or sponsorships should do some basic research about the maritime industry. * Interviewers look for clarity of thought & your aspirational vision during the interview. * There's no need to worry about autonomous ships taking over within the next decade, at least. * Make time for fitness each day, as it's equally vital for your mental health as it is for your physical well-being. Kudos to Karan bhai for initiating this, and a big thank you to Capt. Karan Kochhar for sharing such valuable insights. 🙏 Looking forward to more episodes of the KSN show! 🙌🏻
I’m a truck driver here in California that goes in/out with port containers. So cool watching your journey out in the sea and now we get a podcast! 🤘🏼 always willing to learn something new!
Good start. Very engaging video. You can see why this guy got to where he is. Might I suggest that there are distinct similarities between you two. Both determined to improve. Happy to help others. Go that bit further than most to achieve a goal. And both influence those around them. I could imagine working for this bloke you would get a fair deal, and a listening approach. Also lovely to hear he considers recommendations, respects effort and a willingness to learn over just paper qualifications. In my experience of employing people, often the paper means nothing. Some people are very good at collecting them. Other very skilled people aren't. My philosophy has always been to give people a chance. They can do the job or not. I really enjoy your at sea videos and now I enjoyed this. Get the right people on. Keep up the high standards. Build your network, and you will make Captain before long. If that is your chosen path.
Bring cruise ship members too, Indian navy guys who did transition from Indian navy to Merchant navy, Doing business on land tips after retiring from sea. These are some future podcast topic ideas
Podcast !!! 🎉Congratulations my sailor boy ! Stay bessed ! ⚓️👦🏼❤️ ..and Thanks to Captain Karan Kochhar for sharing his wonderful experiences with us ! 🙏
I know nothing about ships but just to hear Captain Karan talk, his attitude to life, he would be my choice to Captain a ship. I wonder if Karanvir will still blog if he becomes a Captain.

Hello ❤ You know sir i am in the library and a sudden thought came into my mind that "karan sir isn't uploading since some months its been a long time of your video, he must not have gone again on sailing and then i came to your channel and saw a new video uploaded 3 days ago 😅 Loved the podcast, its very informative and it added some more excitement and understanding before getting a sponsorship (i am preparing for sponsorship and imucet for the next year). Also he's such a nice man. 😊
@@KaranvirSinghNayyar I am home after doing a world cruise, which went from Australia then up the West Coast of Africa calling at Walvis Bay which was wonderful as I had seen it on your videos. We also called at Mauritius and Cape Town, Cape Verde then the Canary Islands and onto Europe. Mainly the Baltic countries.
Absolutely love your effort ❤ Am a nurse by profession but in my free time am also watching your videos and getting knowledge about marine life. Good content for the upcoming mariners.
I am currently in euro tech maritime academy pursuing a gp rating course and sadly I couldn't do dns or bsc and I'm looking forward to completing 36 months as soon as possible and sail as a second officer just like you and create content I love making content thanking you for everything and you've truly inspired me whenever am in a doubt regarding anything I look your videos feels like a elder brother telling and teaching me everything❤ @@KaranvirSinghNayyar
Karanvir, I had a doubt.. I seem to know Karan Kochhar..!! the name and his face sounds/looks very familiar.. The moment Karan says his Dad was in the navy.. I'm sure we have met and played together.. probably when he was with his Dad was posted in Mumbai at NOFRA..!!! I guess over the years we grew apart and now after so many years I get to see Karan again yes.. Its after 1999 that i am seeing Karan Kochhar again..!! Dont know if he still may remember me ..!! been a while..!! Great to see..and Thanx Karanvir..!! 🙂
Good evening sir, that’s the beauty of this world and media. It’s the place where all the magic happens. I am glad this show was the place where 2 old friends could connect. Thank you for watching🙏
@@KaranvirSinghNayyar .. might I Suggest, apart from calling big/famous personalities on your show, you could call, some absolutely obscure and normal day to day run-of-the-mill seafarers or people connected to shipping, like.. say... - Teaching staff at various institutes (not just the principals or Director, but the teachers, the one's who teach Celestial Navigation/Cargo Work.. etc) - Commandants from the Coast Guard, those who run the MRCCs - Retired Senior Indian Naval Personnel, to take their perspective and View of the Merchant Navy (from the Indian Navy POV) - One of the ABs or Bosuns from the ships that you have sailed on and similar .. Just a suggestion. Cheers 🙂
Nayyar: My batchmates say, the current training of our engineers is crap; hence they have a hard time getting a good company's entry. Mate, too much Hindi. In my time, only English was the tradition in DMET.
