I got a group fitness instructor certification so I could start teaching a class a week at my gym. Not only do I get paid (and have the earnings go into it's own bank account), I do not have to pay for my gym membership anymore. I'm saving $120 per month, while getting paid to exercise.

I ask my friends at work if they want a homemade lunch that I cook at a cheaper price than buying a takeaway lunch. So I cooked more and I get extra money from my friends as well as provide a healthy lunch for them. Lucky they love my cooking... :)

Another way to save money are homemade soups. Make your own broth and stock. Load the soups with your favorite veggies and make extra on a large pot. Freeze extra soups in individual containers and take them to work on the days you don't have anything ready to pack for lunch.

I utilise the salary packaging program that my workplace offers. I have packaged my mortgage and essentially get to pay $10k of my mortgage repayments using pre tax dollars every year, thus lowering my taxable income. I use the money I save on paying tax to make extra repayments on my mortgage. It’s a double saving!

I do no spend weeks, where I cook only at home and the moment I started putting away the equivalent of one pay per month, my saving habits changed substantially! I automatically know that I have the equivalent of one pay to spend on expenses, and it's incredibly encouraging to watch a savings account build up from this mindset. It allows my spending to never go beyond a certain point - and this has helped my save the equivalent of 65K in a matter of 3 years, all while moving out of home for the first time, travelling, and starting a business from scratch. Finishing all my beauty products and makeup before buying something new, and having a capsule wardrobe of basics from Uniqlo for winter (where we tend to spend extra on sweaters, boots, knits) has been so helpful!

Amazing advice, will show this to my young adult kids. Do you get paid monthly and you just take 25% and put into savings a/c? That is a huge effort, well done.

In South Australia we have a 10c rebate on bottles, cans and some cartons (not sure if other states do this too...). I always carry a plastic bag so that I can collect any bottles/cans that I buy or are lying on the street (you’ll be surprised how many you find especially in parks and beaches).
Once a month I take my collection to the local depot and exchange the cans/bottles for cash! I usually make between $30-50. The only downside is that you’ll need somewhere to store them, they can take up a bit of room and they don’t accept crushed cans/cartons.
It helps the environment and makes me money.
I still limit my pre-packaged drink consumption because they’re expensive and usually unhealthy , but it’s nice to know that when I do splurge I’ll get a small rebate.

I save on my electricity bill by setting my thermostat to 65 degrees Fahrenheit while I sleeping or away from home. I turn it up to 72 degrees and use a space heater while I am home. This plus using weather stripping on the windows and doors has significantly decreased my electricity bill in the winter.

Great content! I love how many really practical ideas you put in your videos. I have chronic nerve pain and can only work a few hours a week. I live off $20,000 a year and have started investing using the RAIZ app. I do a lot of meal prep so that I don’t spend money on expensive food when I am out and it also means I know what is actually going into my food. I have a number of ‘no spend’ days per month. I have a minimalistic capsule wardrobe. I make a lot of my own beauty products using natural ingredients. I do yoga and pilates at home using TH-cam videos so my workouts are free :)

I heard about the $5 bill savings idea last year and live by it now. Every time I have a $5 bill I put it in a jar in my kitchen. Every few months I have $300-$400 for something I need or want. You never notice just $5 but they add up fast. Its so easy and effective. It came in so handy last year several times for a weekend holiday and Christmas or just to pay an unexpected bill.

Love how your channel has grown! I remember doing the $1000 challenge with you back in 2015/2016 lol. Awesome stuff!
One way my Wife and I have recently started staving money is actually kind of interesting. Since our child was born my Wife hasn't worked (not to say a stay at home Mom doesn't work) but she's been wanting to make some money to help contribute. So, we joined up with DoorDash and now make a few deliveries when we go into town. It's nothing huge but it definitely adds up and the whole family gets to be together while we do it! We could easily make a couple extra thousand by the end of the year with it, even after counting for car depreciation and taxes. And the best part is (aside from working when we want to), we allot the majority of our profits into our dividend account! Yay!
Hope we win a copy! Love the videos!

Introduce the latest trend amongst your friends by holding a 'fiver party' when it is Rocco's birthday. In lieu of gifts guests pop $5 into a card and the pooled money buys one single toy or experience gift. It is minimalist and environmentally responsible as it reduces the packaging and waste that is such an issue with toys. Most parents will get on board if you are specific on the invitation as to where the money will be spent eg '(childs name) is saving towards a new bike' or '(childs name) loves the meerkats at the zoo and is saving to participate in the 'adopt an animal' program.

I guess everyone who can just put the extra money they saved in a savings account, doesn’t need the money to live. I hardly buy new toys in a store, we always go to thrift stores. The money I ‘save’ I need for other stuff. Same goes for eating at home instead of buying on the go, or putting 5 dollar notes in a jar of ‘saving’ by being a minimalist. I save 1000’s a year but I couldn’t put that into a savings account 😏
