Love Utrecht Paints, I have used your oil paints and oil paint mediums all of my professional career. I was introduced to them at Syracuse University by my Art Professors. 👍😃❤️

Adding a phthalo green/ viridian hue to this palette creates a beautiful, deep transparent black (a VERY deep purple) when it’s mixed with crimson, ontop of making a wider gamut and the convenience having immediate access to a green
ultramarine can be used in place of cobalt blue, although it is usually more violet and semi transparent
cerulean blue hue can be made with phthalo blue and white, BUT
Be warned phthalo blue is an incredibly overpowering color in mixtures- a small amount of it will show up very strongly in mixtures.
The hue is ironically much brighter and more staining than the genuine pigment, which can be either a pro or con depending on wether you want a bright blue that retains its brightness or a very slightly less bright blue that desaturated into more natural colors as it’s mixed

Thanks for the additional information! Being able to mix the color black from other colors is an important skill, especially for artists who want to avoid animal-derived Ivory Black (bone char) and the slower drying Lamp Black. Great insights!
