Nice vid, so , how is the ORU carbon fiber paddle, do you feel significant difference to justify the cost, is it " wobbly" at the coneection points? What are the grips you are using?
It has been a good paddle. My mom still loves it. It does need to be tightened often to prevent wobbly. It looks like they have changed the design on the new ones they are selling, so that might not be an issue anymore. Just a suggestion (gleaned from experience 😳)…and you may have already, but just watch Ken on Paddle TV as he does his many evaluations of different kayaks. Besides the twist, he does a good job of showing the reach. Twisting allows that extra few inches to lengthen the stroke…with a smooth follow through. I love watching experienced paddlers. Looks so easy!!!
Any gators? I have seen them quite a bit paddling in Florida when we were in inflatables…no issue…we just respect their right to be left alone! Have fun, I love watching your vids!
Thanks Kathy! We have watched a ton of his videos. He does a great job. We are still practicing a lot of his techniques! I have a video coming up at Wacissa River, that is where I always see gators. We saw 8 last time! But no issues, just respect their space for sure!

So…I enjoy the update on the paddle. Really trying to decide if I want this one or an Aqua Bound or Werner. Hey, I made it to Florida with my new Beach LT at Thanksgiving. First time in the new boat. Did a couple springs with their rivers and a bit on an inlet and ocean. I am so happy to report that the Oru Beach did just fine paddling upstream against quite a substantial current. Handled large swells well, too. Since part of my paddling includes camping, I went with the Beach to haul more gear than the Inlet would have allowed. It is tempting not to just get an Inlet, too, for an even lighter weight option! I will continue to follow your trips! Thanks!
That's awesome! I'm thinking of getting the Bay ST for longer trips. Going to decide after I have had the inlet 6 months :) I'm thinking of getting an Aqua Bound paddle too. I have heard good things!
