I always liked the way he holds the bass like rookie punk but he is so solid in time and musically expressive as few in Rockers now at day! Pure Groove in his hands!
I always loved Rexs work. I might get castrated for saying it, but I wish they would remaster the pantera albums so that his bass isn't so drowned out by Dime and Vinnie.
Band aids. If your in the studio recording, or rerecording, the slides, pulldowns and general working of the neck will wear down on your finger tips. It's also possible he ripped off his natural calluses. I play bass, but I have ripped calluses off while weightlifting. To continue, I put the calluses back on with super glue👌
@@talearingo248 usually years of playing and touring makes your finger tips tougher. I was wondering why he was using bandaids myself. Common sense and 20+ years of playing guitar and bass tells me it isn't because his fingers hurt.. and you don't know what you are talking about
@@talearingo248 Ok then.. I seriously doubt he's using bandaids because his finger tips are "worn". Most likely busted calluses. And btw, you spelled "his" wrong.. learn to fuckin type
Craig dudes it's a Euro based on an NS-2, so pretty much the same thing...Just slightly lighter weight and more affordable, yet modern. Basically a licensed and very special copy of Stuart Spector's american NS-2
Chase Holland Rex is a Spector artist and doesn't play Euro's wtf? That again is an NS-2 and I can tell simply by looking at the bass. Euro's are factory made and there are no white ones like that...you could perhaps purchase a custom one but otherwise very limited in the woods/colors. Check Spector site for details
Idk either BUT..It's kind of bugging me With his alcohol issues, me too, he might have really bad eczema and the fingertips tend to split at times and it's kind of impossible to keep from happening.
Nothing simple about what he does. The fact that he could even keep up with Dimebag while still locking in with Vinnie takes a considerable amount of skill.

1:20 HOLY SHIT HE'S PLAYING WITH HIS FINGERS
Thank you for being born Rex!
His amazing, so talented. And he looks so good here, I loved Pantera.
Tigress I prefer his look when pantera is still playing he looks like a beast

It really isnt drowned out
You can hear him pretty clear when Dime is doing his leads man go back and listen. Especially the remastered stuff
It's so wierd to see him playing with fingers :D
My favorite bassist. Super underrated

Excelente bajista
What songs did Rex play in this video and from what band?
is it just me or is the bass somehow criminally low on this one...drowned under the backing tracks
rex is a fucking beast never gets old
1:50 song?
What's with the taped fingers ?
THINKING THE SAME?
Don’t you think he finger tips might be a bit worn after all these years of touring and recording etc.? Use common sense

What model Spector is that?
Think it is a NS-2.
Marcus Langeström
No, it's actually a Euro. You can tell by the rounded corners of the bridge. I have a white Euro myself.

Excelente comentario.
Is that a spector bass?
***** Of course : ) A Spector NS-2 to be precise!
Very Nice bass
murilo ninj actually a euro lx but still badass! Lol

+murilo ninj Wrong, euro. Rounded corners on the bridge. US are more of a sharp angle.
Every bassist have played with fingers, i can't understand why everyone goes crazy just for watching him playing with fingers.
It's because he almost always plays with a pick. That's why people go crazy.
not bad
El bajista de rock con más groove
Fucking God Master
Wtf is that on his fingers
Idk either BUT..It's kind of bugging me

too simple. end of comment.
