Hard to believe that all that's left of Pantera is Rex & Phil the music and memories. Long Live The Abbot Brothers and what they meant to metal an all of us.

Rex has always reminded me of John Paul Jones in the way he's often overlooked because of who else was in his band but is an absolute monster player in every aspect.

Ryan Miller I can hear him perfectly well in every Pantera album I can recall hearing. With metal in general, the bass isn't typically as prominent as in some other genres, and with Rex in particular, I don't think he likes to be the focal point (listen to the mixes in this video, I'm assuming those are his own, and he is very much filling a supporting role). That said, with a good stereo or a good pair of headphones, he can be heard loud and clear if you can tell the difference between guitar and bass tones, in everything I've ever heard him recorded on.

I put a lot of money into Ernie Ball over the years, just because so many artists use them. But I honestly never really liked most of them, and their "reinforced" ones are bogus as well. - D'Addario is similar but a little better. - But DR... Dime was onto something. I have played a bunch of DR-sets, including Dime's signature-set, and they're all just great. From the feel to the sound and consistency. I was pleasantly surprised. - Dunlops are great as well. You really don't need to go with the major companies like Ernie Ball and D'addario or Gibson and Fender or Canon and Nikon etc. - They make fine stuff, but not necessarily the best just because they're the biggest.
