Stick, as always, thank you for sharing your journey with us. We will continue to embrace the journey and have happy trails! God bless and keep you as you go to work with The Boy Scouts. I hope you keep us posted when you are off the AT. Maybe you could finish at Mount Katahdin Maine and then turn around and head to Springer Mountain Georgia. I wonder how many people have ever done that. Blessings
The Barefoot Sisters did a "yo-yo" of the AT. They started in Maine first. And yes, they did it (mostly) barefoot. As of 2015, 7 people had reported yo-yo hikes to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy. I don't know about the number since then.
Im following 4 hikers on the PCT now. Do your homework, get with a group and go. You'll do great and your videos are always so great. You can do the AT SOBO later on. Love to hear you're planning your next adventure. Talk about enbracing the journey, you definitely have 😊
I never overnight hike without my puffy, I bought it in 2021 at Neel gap. I , like you , made several important gear changes while hiking on the Appalachian Trail!
PCT is absolutely stunning with a variety of extremes and terrains. AT is one note i find almost in terms of terrain. The PCT has desert, alpine, forest, lakes, rocks, wet and dry areas..
Kinda interesting that it was cold when you started the trail and its cold towards the end of the trail. Seeing that this is my first hiking season following hikers on a long trail Im not to familiar with the other long trails. Ive seen a few vlogs of the PCT and of course its beautiful. And it looks very different from the AT. But I think you should come to Wisconsin and do the Ice Age trail. It doesn't have huge mountains but it does have a lot of other beautiful geographies and its a thousand mile trail which wouldn't require 5 or 6 months of time off. Anyway I think its great whatever you decide to do. Ill be there to embrace the journey. I could do another long hike😂. I saw an interview that Captain Jack did and he said he was thinking about once he was done at Mt Katahdin he might turn around and go back to Georgia. I never heard if he decided to do that forsure of not yet. That area of the trail looked pretty nice. Thanks for spending the extra time on making sure we have videos. But also understand if you can't because of the service. Always remember to embrace the journey and happy trails❤ ✌️🫶
Thank you again for all your hard work on your videos! Yours are the so detailed. I'm loving those close-ups that you've started putting in. Your videos are just a joy to watch! Are you off at your Boy Scout camp now? It sounds like Frizzle and Nichols will finish while you are working. As for your question about the PCT or 2-time AT, I think it depends on the type of terrain that you like. The PCT and CDT both have large sections of desert. I have hiked in desert before -- Big Bend National Park and Guadalupe National Park (I live in Texas). Short backpack trips there were fine, but I don't think I'd like to do a long hike in a desert. There is such a concern about water -- you often either have to depend on water caches or do heavy water carries. Also, the lush greenery of the East Coast is absent, except maybe in the Pacific Northwest part of the PCT (although even the hikes I've done there didn't seem as luxuriant). You do get some tall mountains with gorgeous views and have more varied terrain. But for me, I prefer the AT's greenness and abundance of water. So I'd go with 2-time AT.
Yes, I am now off trail. Water is life!! Definitely bonus points for the AT! Thanks for your thoughts! I do look forward to exploring those parks in western Texas. I was in Texas last year but did not make it that far west.
Though I watch you go SOBO on the AT, my vote is the PCT... I have yet to watch anyone do the whole PCT, so, why not be my first?!.... (Hooray for Nickels!)... Happy Trails! 👟🎒🗻🪨⛺️🌲💚🥾
@@sticktheeagle I've done a few short hikes since Jan '22 but didn't really get interested in possibly doing longer, overnight hikes until this past year when I discovered the AT...so, stared with AT vlogs... I'm no "spring chicken" and watching your videos is helping me decide if a thru hike is realistic for me to do or just hiking sections of it...thanks for sharing the past few months of your life with us viewers!
Fires out west have prevented complete PCT thru hikes, though all recognized detours make it a complete hike. If you do PCT, I would suggest SOBO. Watch Feral. His PCT and final leg of triple crown was SOBO. I lived in the southwest for 30 years. Heat sucks everything out of you.
For these last few hundred miles, you may want to think about ultra light hiking boots, 6 inch tops for your ankles. Maybe 8 inch. I have 8 inch Cabela hiking boots, very light but cushions well, great tread and thicker soles. Those little sneakers these last few hundred miles offer no real support really.
Agreed, if your feet are hurting that bad, maybe time to rethink your shoe brand or style ? If I recall some time back, there was a dude on the PCT who had similar issues. At one of the re-supply outlets, he got talking to the outfitters there. They suggested a different shoe, and sock to wear. Issue resolved almost overnight for the dude.
Hey Stick, I have watched everyday. You seemed to have the best 2 days on a long time going through Smarts, Cube and Mist. No doldrum periods when you had to psyche yourself up. That's great -- what do you think it is?
Oh how I love the comments section on Stick the Eagle. Yall bring me so much joy!
AT Sobo brother for your next adventure

I’m not sure about numbers, but it is not done very often. I love sharing this journey!
PCT definitely, following you since beginning of the AT, I'm embracing your journey !!!

Awesome! Thank you! I’ll be doing some watching too.

I’ll follow wherever you decide to hike Stick.
😁👍
Please do the PCT. Would love to see you hike thru my state of Oregon. Also, love all your safety tips. Your filming skills is amazing.
Wow, that’s a hard call. There’s something mystical and magical about the AT. The PCT would be a new experience. Can’t wait to see what you decide.
Both of those sentences are So True!
Good to hear your feet are improved. Thanks for your work editing.😊❤
You’re doing so great Stick! Definitely PCT.
PCT gets my vote! Just do it! Thanks for asking. A big fan of your AT journey. Thanks so much.
Awesome! Thank you!
❤ KEEP TREKKING ALONG 💕
Yessss do the PCT. I also live in Oregon (near Portland) . I should be able to do trail magic.
PLEASE DO THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL AGAIN BUT DO SOBO
Not only did you not miss Mist Mt, but you did not miss Mist Mt in the mist. Fun moments with back to back privy storms. Welcome to the White's!!!
Love the play on words!! And it was perfect to catch Mt Mist in the mist.

Ice Age Trail!! Maybe I will come and do that!
PCT 100%! But it would be fun to watch you do the AT SOBO
SOBO adds a whole new experience!

@@ItJustDawnOnMe of course! I haven’t watched any PCT blogs yet either but I am going to be watching some this summer!

Nice!! I will definitely be changing my sock… as that was worn out. But I still am weary about boots given that they did not work for me in Georgia

You know what? I’ve just realised that with your comment. Maybe it’s the nice views that seem to be payment for the hard work I do climbing?
PCT and then the triple crown!
It’s either one or three!
By instagram I can tell you are in the Whites. Wow! You are doing it! I wonder if your height is and advantage getting over the rocks 😊
It definitely is helpful!! I have longer reach to capture handholds.
I vote a SOBO on the AT!!!
AT SOBO with me a fellow Ohioan!
Are you doing it SOBO?
Originally that was my idea. But since most people do NOBO idk it makes me kinda hesitant.
@@garrettphillips2729 one positive about SOBO is that Springer never closes. But I do like Katahdin as the grand finale.
PCT!
For exercise, training, and knowing what to expect - AT.
For experience, novely and diversity - PCT.
Your choice...
Good ways to look at it! Thank you!
Definitely PCT but plan on budgeting a lot more! Prices for resupply are high plus airfare. Garmin for safety is recommended.
Yes, I would definitely purchase a Garmin for PCT!
You’ve got a triple crown in you, I know it! PCT, then CDT!
Cool! Sounds adventurous!
PCT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PCT!!
PCT, PCT, PCT :) :) :)
PCT! PCT! PCT
Glad Frizzle and Nichols made an appearance....looks like Nichols got the girl.....they make a nice couple..... Frizzle is so great on camera..
I was wondering about their relationship LOL
Most likely just friends. Unless something new has happened, Frizzle mentioned a boyfriend in Boston on earler vids.
Just friends😄
