I love that you called the spider a he or a she instead of an it. Spiders are amazing organisms! I am crocheting these as a give away at my read aloud events for my children's picture book The Kid Who Was Afraid of Words. Langston Longwordsworth, the main character, is not afraid of rats, bats, bugs, or even most girls. But, there is one thing Langston is afraid of. Langston Longwordsworth is afraid of words! Oh, not words like "run" or "ball" or even "jumping". Those words are easy for him to read. But, show him a word like "magnificent" or "gigantic" and Langston's stomach drops. I wrote a story about a kid who employs a number of tricks, both at school and at home, to avoid having to read unfamiliar words. It is when Langston receives a book that he just has to read that he discovers something extraordinary about long, "frightening" words and overcomes his fear of them. My illustrator, Summer Morrison, did a marvelous job! I asked her if she could put the spider that Langston released out of his sister's bedroom window on the first page somewhere on each subsequent page for the reader to have fun finding. Your tutorial is easy to follow and the spider you made will be a hit at my read aloud events! Thank you so much for sharing!
so happy I found this! Im working on a shawl that has individual motifs that are spider webs and thought cute little applique spiders would be awesome and to give it depth and texture finding yours and with eyes was brilliant! :)
This is so timely for me only I have to translate this into a big, ugly tarantula for someone for Christmas. You've given me some good ideas here including how I can make the hairy legs. Thanks so much.
Very glad to have found this tutorial, great for a banner with crocheted spiders. My sisters birthday falls on Halloween and I plan to make a birthday banner with these spiders, thank you, your awesome 👏
I love this little spider! I don’t like spiders but this is great. He’s going on a Halloween/birthday hat for my nephew! I might just make a few to hang around the house for Halloween too! Thank you for a great little tutorial 😊
Awesome! Just what I was looking for! The Crochet Crowd recently posted a tutorial for a Spider Man square- red, blue, and gray with a spider web crocheted on top. My first thought was, "That's nifty. It'd be great for halloween in orange, purple, and green with the web in black. But it needs a spider." And ... here's my spider! Love your videos, keep em coming!
Absolutely! I see most spiders in the summer. They're all over the garden and it won't be long until the big ones come out into the open looking for friends!! :D
Hi . I love this video but If I want to make the spider biger, how do I do that. Im new at crochet and my mother love Halloween so want to crochet a big big spider at her.
Hi. Have you tried a chunky yarn? I make it with aran weight here but a thicker yarn might work. This one works best on the scale shown in the video. Failing that, you might need to find a different pattern. Thanks for watching!
Please check out my latest episode (17) as I've made a spider out of t-shirt yarn. This is the sort of thing that might help. You could also strand together a few yarns together at the same time to create a thicker ply. You'd need a bigger hook size for this.
You are too funny... Talking about the little legs feeding the web and now you gotta go learn about spiders lol. They become kinda sweet when they're armaghani. You sound just like me haha...
keeping up was hard you rushed it and not explained well. guess for a semi beginner like me but I made it, did a lot of rewinding and starting over... But I got a spider
Just found your video today and my grandsons are going to love these! So cute and easy. And i so appreciate that you are "real" and "silly" ❤

Cute idea he'd be cool on a crochet necklace.
brilliant tutorial! love your personality, thank you so much ❤️
I wish you knew what size they were. I've been looking for some like that and can't find any.
They would work on the side of a crocheted flowerpot for decoration for spring and summer. The make them look a little more real.
Absolutely! I see most spiders in the summer. They're all over the garden and it won't be long until the big ones come out into the open looking for friends!! :D
This is so cute and easy to make. Love it.❤
Thank you very much for your cute video. I'll make one to put with my other friggy magnets.
You could also put them on the top of soil of your indoor plants 🪴
Put a small magnet in the body and you have a fridge magnet !
Arghhh, that's a cool idea!!
Loved this!
Thank you, very well done.
