Lyrics Out of the water The cold black Nordic sea Risen towards the eternal sky The land lays open and free Up high the mountains Where the wind catch its speed and chill Snowstorms are born And rage loud through the valleys and the hills Above two ravens Messengers of the wise One eyed God Who rules this land Of the strong and the great And tall Beautiful Behold this thy land Open and free This thy home of the brave Dark endless forest Where at the day hides the shadows of the night Snow covered vast lands As great as the eternal sky Now in the midst Of this wild and this open and free He placed my kind To possess this their land to be Above two ravens Messengers of the wise one eyed God Who ruled this land Of once strong and once great But now Forgetting to behold this their land Once ours once free This my home of once brave
In my opinion, Hammerheart is the album that really started the Viking Metal genre, and no one will be able to replace Thomas, every time I listen to One Road to Asa Bay and Home of Once Brave, I cry and get emotional, I contains a chill, and I think how much this legend could have involved in the development of this musical genre. Maybe one day I will be able to reach Thomas's grave and light a candle for him, I hope that the next generations will discover with true to this band and to appreciate the music of this legend.

He’s a product of his time I think. I just got into this as a hip hop head and heard tracks like father to son, I peep all the nationalist shit but this shit still goes hard
For Whom The Bell Tolls was released in 1984, as part of Ride The Lightning. Hammerheart was released in 1990, so maybe it's the exact opposite, regarding who took his variety from whom.
Lyrics
Out of the water
The cold black Nordic sea
Risen towards the eternal sky
The land lays open and free
Up high the mountains
Where the wind catch its speed and chill
Snowstorms are born
And rage loud through the valleys and the hills
Above two ravens
Messengers of the wise One eyed God
Who rules this land
Of the strong and the great
And tall
Beautiful
Behold this thy land
Open and free
This thy home of the brave
Dark endless forest
Where at the day hides the shadows of the night
Snow covered vast lands
As great as the eternal sky
Now in the midst
Of this wild and this open and free
He placed my kind
To possess this their land to be
Above two ravens
Messengers of the wise one eyed God
Who ruled this land
Of once strong and once great
But now
Forgetting to behold this their land
Once ours once free
This my home of once brave
Rest In Peace,pelle and quorthon.

That's beautiful, than I'm not alone thinking like this. 🥰
My favorite bathory song for sure
It's a banger
This is damn!! Good! But Valhalla still my favorite 👀🤘🏻🤘🏻
For some reason I think of this as an outro song someone walking into the distance so valiantly.

The way how he could capture the emotion of nostalgia in this song is pure genius
swedish melancoli of the deep forrest and snow!
I believe it's the concept of what once was compared to it's downfall now. Values, pride and ownership degrading.
5:40 For The Once Brave, The Bell Tolls
The Golden Walls of Hell Awaits
Yes wtf
Put something original on your gravestone, something that will stand out please
Those screams at the end of the song, are those of ultimate misery. Rest in peace
Quorthon put emotion and soul into his music, I'm sure of it, he still lives in his music, no matter how absurd that sounds
Not absurd at all
This the only thing that soothes the disparity of late

Imagine Quorthon seeing what Sweden (or just West/North Europe in general) is becoming now..
This song only becomes more true over time.
He would see right wing manchildren with anime profile pictures crying about literally everything? Truly a fate worse than death
