- In an interview for the FRONTLINE documentary “Pelosi’s Power,” Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi offers her own perspective on her decades in Congress and shares details about key legislative battles.
“I said, 'Well, we have an opportunity of a generation,'" she tells FRONTLINE. "We’re not going to let anything stand in our way to pass the Affordable Care Act. If there is a big fence blocking us, we will push open the gate. If that doesn’t work, we’ll climb the fence. If that doesn’t work, we’ll pole-vault in.’”
Pelosi was first elected as a U.S. representative (D-Calif.) in 1987. She served as speaker of the House from 2007 until 2011 and resumed the role again in 2019.
The following interview was conducted by FRONTLINE’s Jim Gilmore on Dec. 6, 2021. It has been edited for clarity and length.

Pelosi should have allowed the National Guard to be at the capital, WHICH PRESIDENT TRUMP HAD REQUESTED
Pelosi never denied any requests for the National Guard, nor has that power to begin with. That power lies with the Capitol Police Board.
Furthermore, Trump never requested any National Guard members to be present on January 6th, even while he was aware of the situation on the ground.
There’s a lot of things wrong with Pelosi and her corruption, but this is not one of them. I say this as conservative that it’s important to accept when our own side has gone astray, and attempting to whitewash or deny what really happened on that day creates a dangerous and false alternate reality that could further harm this country.

I do think some need to go. However, if one really serves the best she/he can, then it's a benefit. Speaking with zero class of a prior president is not ok especially while contradicting herself by blaming this person and that person for how difficult it is to be female in politics and oh poor me how I was treated yet she displays the same behavior towards people she dislikes, has had public meltdowns for so many years that she really cannot be taken seriously. It would be commendable if she addressed the issues that are eroding our country and what they are doing to turn it around but she cannot speak transparently nor can she speak of any work being done for the people, to undo the damage this horrific admin has intentionally caused to our society. They do not care about us, they care only of lies and manipulation..using us all to gain financially and become more powerful. It is evil period. 2 years and what have they accomplished? The sad excuse for a leader seems to need full time nursing care or drug rehab-it is something unlike most of us have ever experienced. There is no foreign policy now, this too is a wreck but of course they will never speak of it, only speak of how horrible DT is and how amazing they are. Descant is called them a regime and yes very appropriate term. Lies, corruption all to purposely dismantle our society for personal gain. If that isn’t a threat to the people, our territory, security financially as well as homeland security, our constitutional rights have been violated too many times to keep track of. This is not about labels such as Republican or Democrat and so on..this is about our country and our people having proper leadership. I do not care what party they associate with only that they are capable to get the job done. This is our right as Americans. Our constitutional rights like I said are being toyed with as they please. They profited massively off of covid..they have lied and lied, if they are speaking they are lying. We can assume this after 2 years of nonstop pathological lying that is commonplace for these politicians..unapologetically, pompous lies from the people entrusted with our home, our safety and economy. It is painfully evident that we are in such a deep hole that was dug by these people on purpose. We must not be divided, they want this. They do not care about you nor I or any of us. We need strong leadership that is in line with our countries constitution of course!!! This country was founded on these principles and it must be protected and maintained for us not politicians. I truly wish this wasn’t the state of our beautiful nation but it is, we must remain free thinkers and seek truth..form opinions based on fact..we have to read and ensure we are all informed so that way we can do what is necessary to save us all, save America from this downward spiral we have been victim of..we have to or our fate, our children’s lives and so on will be further jeopardized. we accomplish nothing by fighting and we are capable of communicating intelligently thus productively as we share the common goal of loving our country and preserving it along with our amazing way of life. My family came through Ellis Island from Cork Ireland a very long time ago to escape famine and persecution. How precious and unique America is..perfect no but this is our country, it belongs to the people not politicians seeking to undermine our livelihood period. We must do what is right and be United in peace again as we all have the same goal. It is very sad but we do not have to agree to tyranny. It isn’t the American way. One nation! 🙏🏼🙌🏽
