- This new addition to Altra’s line up, the FWD Experience, is a great way for runners who wouldn’t usually pick an Altra shoe, due to their signature zero drop, to lace up the brand's signature look for the first time. But is it enough to convince you to try and pair?

Team zero drop all the way 🎉
Nice! What shoes are you running in at the moment?
@@runningchannel Altras, always. But they’re busted and it’s time for an upgrade.
While it's not for me, I can see the sense in a shoe that helps peeps transition to zero drop
New balance and hoka have shoes with 6 mm and less drop. Some of them have as little as 2 mm. And they’re just as wide in the toe as these but they actually fit the rest of the foot for most people better than altra does. Altra needs to get it together.
Bought these as soon as they dropped. Best Altra's I've bought so far. I'm buying a 2nd pair
I bought the black. They are great to run in. I think I may buy the white and green and switch those to my runners and my black to my every day work shoe. My favorite Altra to date for daily miles and pairs well to the Vanish series.
Looks good in black 👍🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Subtle and cool eh?
@@runningchannel and for every day👍🏻👌🏻
This sounds awesome. I have chronically short Achilles, so wear heel lifts in my Altra Olympus to avoid calf issues.
Sounds like this could be a shoe you should try out! Let us know if you do 🙌🏻
Often our achilles tendons are weakened and shortened by decades of wearing footwear with a drop
Been wearing Altras for a few years. I might like this one better than my Via Olympus or Paradigms. A drop seems to help me, so I recently bought the Karhu Metsari Run.
I started wearing Altra for road and trail in 2017 and would now never wear another brand. I've suffered horrible blisters in all other brands since I was a teen (now in my 40s). Tried every trick in the book and nothing worked. In Altras I can run 100km completely blister free.
They are awesome shoes aren’t they? Which ones are you wearing currently?
@@runningchannel I currently wear Escalante for road and just completed a 50km trail yesterday in my Lone Peaks. As soon as I started wearing Altras my blisters disappeared. My first ultra in Salamons, my feet were an absolute mess and even in Hokas, not much better. Some Altras have a wider toe box than others, so I do have my favourites within their range. I hope more runners discover their magic!
I tried this shoe today and did not like it, went from the torin to the paradigm. I also feel like Altra has been narrowing the toe box, is that just me?
They are on my Christmas list!
Good idea!
I tried this shoe out for a few miles and it was one of the best feeling shoes I’ve experienced. Had to return them though because they were too narrow. Got the Topo Atmos and it’s ALMOST perfect except for that prominent arch support.
I bought these shoes and i dislike running to try and pull me away from cycling. So far these have been awesome! 🎉
Will only buy a zero drop
Love the zero drop.
Love Altra shoes. I am a huge fan of the zero drop. I’ve used them for thru hiking, running and everyday wear (nursing). I like some models more than others but am excited to try out the new “experience wild” trail running shoe. Though they just came out with King MT 2 that looks amazing… huge fan of lone peak series and they look similar with a more aggressive lugs for more technical trails. I’m an Altra nerd to the core. (But sometimes Nike temps me…)
I’ve got these, they’re great but I prefer the paradigms
Exactly what I am looking for!
Would totally try it
Sounds good. My go-to brand has been Salming for years, but they're no longer making anything with a drop less than 6mm. Time to switch brands, and this shoe looks like a contender.
If you try them out let us know what you think! 😁
I almost purchased altra. Stuck with my gel kayano, as its old reliable, where i didnt fancy a £100 gamble on shoes I don't enjoy
It can be so tough when they are such an investment now aren’t they. Enjoying the Kayanos? They are a cracking shoe!
Oooo colour me interested!
Have you had a pair before James?
It's an interesting shoe, but it's definitely not the first one Altra has made that has a heel rise, although they only do that very infrequently.
Have they addressed their horrible durability issues?
What is the best max cushion thick outsole trail/road shoes?
But have they fixed the shoddy construction? The show falls apart !
Looks kinda like Hoka
A pity they're all too narrow and hardly footshaped
Which shoes do you run in?
Nope. I’ve worn their shoes, not for me. While some will point to the science of zero drop shoes yada yada, the fact is, people aren’t setting records in them. Give me team stack height all day long. I prefer to enjoy my run
Quality is lacking since they were bought out. I’ll never get Altras again.
Nah… I only buy zero drop from Altra. That’s what they are known for.
They are gonna last 2 weeks then self destruct. As comfortable as altras are the durability is not there.
They look stiff!
Horrible quality. Soles disappear within days
Oh no, sorry to hear that! What's your favourite shoe to run in?
I am kind of anxious about this move. Had other brands transitioning away from making zero drop, wide toe box shoes starting with little things like this. Altra is the only real option für wide toe box, zero drop running shoes and I hope they don’t leave this behind. They already went pretty narrow toe box with the new outroad…🫣
They have already promised that they won’t be moving away from their zero drop ethos this is just a shoe aimed at getting others into the brand.
