    Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
    With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

    As a contractor in the UK I used to carry an obscene amount of tools with me in a toolbox in the cab and the John Deere toolbox on the tractor was full of bolts, nuts, circlips, linchpins, split pins, washers, chain links etc. Etc. Being far from home at times it really helped me finish a job and or get me home!

    Guy I worked for had a 8230 that was our planting tractor. That spring he sent it to the local JD dealer to have the block gaskets replaced. While they had it apart he told the to go ahead and replace the rods and mains. They did the job and we got it back. For 2 weeks it wasn't pushed hard, just moving equipment around the yard. After running it for about an hour or two pulling a ejector bucket the oil pressure dropped. When we pulled the oil filter, it was completely stopped up by metal flakes. To shorten the story, they had to put a brand new engine in the tractor because they couldn't find a reman for it. Bad thing is the tractor only had about 2500 hours on it at the time.

    My grandfather had a problem with his dogs wandering off on his farm so he installed 6 large outdoor speakers on the HAM tower facing in different directions. It worked very well to recall the dogs and less observant grandchildren. If he were alive today to see how far Deere has slid he would probably have recommended Fendt.

    I loved your closing line!!!!! As a fellow countryside dweller (down in southwestern Missouri) I agree with you 120%! There isn't enough money in the whole world for someone to pay me to live in any sized city. Decisions, decisions, decisions, always there're some tough decisions to be made. Whether to pay for a reman engine plus labor to put it in, or invest that money plus a big chunk more to trade for a tractor that's newer and has fewer hours. Good luck!! I know you and your dad will decide wisely.

    Thoughts to think over as what to do about tractor. If it was me I would do some more looking around at other units before making that ultimate decision. On the other hand your local dealer is really working hard to keep your business and that counts also when you look at how he will cover you and all your equipment service wise. Is important factor. Know these new tractors are not cheap. The one you are trying out has 500 hours and that is pretty good now days. You mentioned you thought it had been taken good care of. All that counts. My dad said that in university they taught him that it only makes sense to buy a new tractor if you can put 1000 hours a year on it. So we are running two JCB fastrac 8250 and both of them are over 10 years old. So far we had only 2 issues with them in the field or on the road. Its nice to run a new tractor but the old ones are great too and they aren't as costly to run. And if there are some manufacturing issues for brand new models we dont have to deal with them since they are already sorted for us.

    Zach watch out for some of those reman engines from John Deere. I have a friend that is a farmer in Illinois. He paid for a reman engine for his 9560 had it installed. Then got it back from the dealership to start planting season. Less than 2 hours on the motor after getting it back from the dealership the freaking camshaft gear broke off the camshaft. Oh to say he was a little miffed about the quality of John Deere's reman engines was putting it mildly. He took his entire fleet to the local Case IH dealership and traded EVERYTHING in planters combines tractors everything that was green to red this spring. Why John Deere claimed he abused the motor and was trying to refuse to pay for the repairs on the reman engine he just bought.

    if your stuck on green look into the deere quad track in our area there were several turned in from rentals this last year but track is not the only answer there large LS low profile tires are showing great promise in similar traction floatation and a whole lot less upkeep and initial cost.

    would be really sad to see the 9560RT go, was one of the first new pices that came to the farm in the old youtube days. especially knowing that you did put in quite some money before that season to keep it. maybe the new engine is the right call, because you have a pretty new drive train then.

  • @Mrsnichols1965
    @Mrsnichols1965 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    When the video title showed up and it didn't start with the dogs, I got a little worried.
    That 9570 with the Cummins sounded quiet, and like it wasn't working very hard at all. My only thought on the 9560 with the bad engine is, you can throw a lot of money into an engine, and still have an old tractor around that engine. Good luck on your decision.

    Before you decide on a reman check out Western Truck and Tractor, It's along story but he installed a reman in a tracked JD and it only lasted 2 hours. The cam quit turning and screwed up the valves and tappets. I'm sure your dealer would like you to go with the reman so JD company has to warranty. If they overhaul they have to warranty, I'm guessing they may be nervous about having warranty on that series engine. If you opt for the reman Trade it off before reman warranty is off!!!! Enjoy your videos , Keep us up to date, Please and Thanks. Have been watching Warren for several years and no he didn't duck any thing up he's a damn good independent mechanic That works on a wide range of machinery.

    That's why we got rid of our 9560 tractor. It had issues all the time. Plus you get stuff jammed in the tracks. So I had it listed for sale for more $$$ lucky somebody offered to buy it. And I had them meet me and a friend of mine at a area. They liked it brought it then a hour later at there area they flipped it over goimg down a steep hill no serious injuries. They ket the kids drive it. U should always have a small tool bag just in case u have to hop in another tractor. We had a security company install the same security system u guys have. The wife checks to see who's at the door when we are either gone or at work. It's always the kids friends or FedEx.
