- A quick tutorial showing how to tie a falconer's knot. This is the knot we use to tether a bird to the perch or glove.
You should be able to do this knot from any angle with your eyes closed! It can be frustrating to learn with one hand but is one of the most important basic skills to learn before getting your bird.

So clever whoever invented this knot (or maybe lots of people refined it over years, I don't know..?) -- one-handed, locking AND quick-release -- genius! Thanks for showing us!
Oh, we use a similar knot for tying horses! That is really cool!
This helps me so much for my Study as a Falkner in Germany thank you Ma'am
Knots are cool, nice demonstration
Overkill is underrated. Two is one, and one is none.
Great video very helpful!
Useful video!
Excellent demostration/explanation. Only wish you could drop the music, or at least lower the volume.
Yup, was too loud for me too on this one. Lovely video otherwise.
Thanks! That was helpful :)
Some might say “Touché” but here it seems more apt to say crochet . . . ?
Very similar to a knot that we use for tree work. Bowline or running bowline. More corvids please
Amy, I'm still getting caught up having missed this one. Looks like the falconer's knot could have many uses. That cord seems particularly suited to it's use. I've see cord like that, but what is that type of cord called? What do I ask for?
It appears to be what would be called, in the US anyway, paracord.
@@grumpyboomer61 Nylon kernmantle rope would be the more general term. It's a braided sheath around a yarn core.
The rope in the video looks like it's either 550 or 750 cord, it's too big to be anything smaller like 90 or 275.
I cannot tied it to the D ring on my glove using one had. Could you teach this please ??
