    Clearly for any officer to rise above the rank of Major, they need to become a political animal. Once that happens it is no longer about fighting for what is best for Australia and our troops, but about pleasing your masters to get the next promotion and staff posting tick in the box.
    No wonder retention is abysmal!

    You are all missing the point. The cancellation has nothing to do with money. The GEO satellite is 40,000 km away. They want to change that to have them 300km away like starlink, rather than 40,000 km away. Learn some space engineering please. - "With the acceleration in space technologies and evolving threats in space since the project’s commencement, Defence has assessed that a single orbit GEO-based satellite communications system would not meet strategic priorities," Defence said in a statement. Instead of a single orbit solution, Defence must instead prioritise a multi-orbit capability increasing resilience for the Australian Defence Force." So much safer to have multiple satellites, rather than 1.

    • @matches4382-u2k
      @matches4382-u2k หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ''Learn some space engineering please', ok.
      'So much safer to have multiple satellites, rather than 1' - single orbit (in this case JP9102 GEO) is multiple satellites.
      'prioritise a multi-orbit capability' - indeed, multi-orbit as discussed usually involves more than one orbit - ie more than one of - LEO, MEO, GEO payloads. Not 2 x LEO payloads.

    I fail to understand why any country would even talk to LM or Boeing about satellite technology. Space X is the go to supplier. Unless of course your asking because LM is asking you to run this down. LM is old school and has repeatedly failed the US military. Through their super expensive and unreliable equipment, they have knocked themselves out of the race. And you appear?? to be going in to bat for them. Personally this seems like a complete waste of money. We have too many real issues with our military service before passing this money down the drain.
