When I am fishing the run up Hickory Creek on Lewisville Lake a 3/16th or 1/4 ounce under spin jig with a small fluke or curl tail grub, both is a shad/minnow pattern is all I ever take with me. For 45 years, its never failed me if they were there!!!
@@thesouthwes When fishing for Sandies...dont be afraid to down size your bait. You will actually get more fish and just as many big ones off something like a 3/16th rattle trap than you will off one thats 1/4 ounce. These fish are more pelagic than not and consume a lot of energy swiming and chasing bait fish. Their fast pace metabolism can digest several smaller bait fish quicker and more efficiently than they can one or two bigger bait fish. Thats why smaller baits produce so well.
Good fishing man, here in North carolina we have a 14 inch size limit and 10 fish per person, almost impossible to meet that 14 inch requiment everything is 13 and under
"water is kind of dingy you might want to use a brighter color" i was told you actually want to use darker closer when the water is dirtier. though.... i will say my friends and I caught 25 each using a white lure so... i dunno.... lol good stuff through bro.
Not sure what creek you were fishing but it's a bit early for the run. You should be able to catch them pretty good in two weeks or so. Leave the crankbaits at home just go with plastics 2" or less. If that lake has hybrids they will move up in he same creek around 2 weeks after the whites show up.
I did. It looks like they are the same thing. I thought that sand bass where yellow bass, and yellow bass and white bass are not the same. So I was wrong

Can wait to hit it this coming season! I’m slowly learning more about how to catch them. Thanks for the tips!

I limited out on a white rooster tail. They go crazy for those. I can't remember the size but the smallest one

Not necessarily they start late January if the weathers right, I caught a limit already, 4 of them were over 15 inchers females loeaded w eggs
Loved the video. I have had success using white and silver rooster tails. Nothing like a white bass slamming a rooster tail.
I thought it wasnt safe to eat the fish from here. Or is it only the Trinity River thats bad?
