Hi Lou! I really appreciate your coverage of topics that could sometimes be considered "controversial" as a lot of people seem to shrug them off instead of discuss them. Thank you for another great video :) I was wondering your opinion on rewards at school?
Thanks for watching! I think school is a challenging place and the education system is not conducive to children's wellbeing - they are under resourced, stressed and driven by external judgements (exam results, ofsted ratings etc). In this difficult situation judgemental practices such as using rewards and sanctions may be a teacher's only option. If circumstances were different - more staff, more freedom of how to spend time, less pressure on exam performance etc then I would hope teacher/schools would be willing to do things differently and work more collaboratively with children rather than coercing them. I have got a video about why we don't praise at Forest School that explains my thoughts around this topic - th-cam.com/video/FkE4PAc81Ho/w-d-xo.htmlsi=TGmL51sbExsjUWk_ Alfie Kohn is also a great person to look up if you want to explore why rewards are not conducive to learning and development.
that chiff-chaff !! love it. thank you, Louise for another brilliant video.
Thanks for watching! Happy whittling! 😀
