Jason, thanks for taking the time to discuss Maine-specific whitetail hunting details. I've been hunting 5 years now, and from zero deer harvests and low spotting rate my first season, to about 3 deer a year harvests on average (in about a 3 year learning curve) I've learned a bit. However, like you indicate, it is extremely difficult to not only locate and sort-of pattern the mature bucks in Southern Maine, it's even more of a challenge to place yourself in the right tree or travel spot (near bedding obviously, if it's not rut seeking luck) to harvest one of these elusive animals. Do you have any trophy bucks yourself? and if so, could you do some videos on the specifics of those hunts? Also, detailed scouting tips, hunting tips, etc...would be great. I'm not into all those gear-based videos out there, just the natural nature-based science, and also 'hunting-pressure' strategies. Thanks! -Jay

Hi Jay, yes I've got lots of video filmed of my 2021 season and am hoping to put together my thoughts while I was hunting through the year. As for trophy deer, I've shot a handful of 8-pointers and get the opportunity to shoot at least one 8-pointer a year. I now often let them walk bc they're not the caliber I'm looking for (usually young and about 100-inches). So I see some decent bucks for southern Maine. I've been eating tags learning how to be more consistant with bigger class bucks over the last few years and I plan to show my thought process and strategies while I'm learning on this channel

@@JasonTome I spent all last season passing on bucks and does at first. for about 40+ sits (I saddle hunt), and during pre-rut/rut super early November I caught a glimpse through brush of the thickest, heaviest looking two bucks with racks i could see well at 90 yards or so. Next hunt I moved my spot to a tree closer to what i thought might be a travel route for them and never saw them again! I continued through the whole season hunting as big a buck as possible, and finally had to settle on just any old buck night before last day of muzzle loader. It can be frustrating and elusive, but somehow it's still way better than Christmas!
