Best Rubber Boots For Hunters and Outdoorsmen (8 Rubber Boots Reviewed)
I basically live in rubber boots as a professional wetland scientist and outdoorsman living in the wet landscapes of Maine, thus having the best rubber boots is important. For this reason, I have put a lot of time into thinking about and trying different rubber boots. Over the years I've learned what makes rubber boots good and what makes rubber boots, well...not so good. I also have first-hand experience seeing how different brands of rubber boots (myself and co-workers) have held up over the years. I'm not sponsored by any brand, I personally own or borrowed all of the boots in the review from friends and family.
In this video, I share my biggest tips, and suggestions when buying rubber boots for hunting so you can find the best rubber hunting boots for you and get the most value out of them.
Below you'll find each boot in this review, the timecode that they appear in the video, and Amazon and other affiliate links to each boot, this means I’ll receive a commission if you purchase through my link, at no extra cost to you. Of course, you are not obligated to use my links, but it does help fund these videos in hopes of bringing more value to you.

Collectively, between the rubber boots I've tried for work and hunting (Lacrosse Footwear, Le Chameau, GumLeaf, Muck Boots, Bogs) and observing coworkers' boot performance (Cabela's, Dryshod, XtraTuf), I've been able to identify the rubber boots perform the best over time and the reasons why they perform the best.

Tracking a Big Maine Buck on Snow | He Tries to Lose Me In a Stream & How I Pick The Track Up Again

Once bucks know they're being followed a fairly common tactic they will use is to walk down a stream a good distance to shake their pursuer - they won't just walk across the stream. This buck tried to give me the slip by doing this exact thing. In this video, I show you how I picked the track back up again quickly. If you're looking to start tracking I've left some more resources for you below:...

Tracking a BIG but OLD Maine Buck Track In Snow & Catching Up To The Buck | Allagash Big Woods Bucks

I found an old but BIG buck track during the late morning. Even though it was old I decided to take it because I figured I had a chance to catch up to the buck even though it was old. It was the last week of muzzleloader season in the Allagash so I had a feeling the buck wouldn't be moving too much. I caught up to the buck in only a few hours. BEST VALUE Binoculars for Hunting & Choosing Hunting Binoculars | 13 Binoculars Reviewed
Fellow wetland scientist here, thanks for the video! Do you have any recommendations for steel toe muck boots? I've had success with the Cabela's Zoned Comfort Trac Insulated Rubber Hunting Boots for sometime now because of the full rubber upper overlays it has to protect from briers, etc. I like the nylon shank on the boots too. Trying to find a solid pair that meet ASTM standards.
In Pa., we call the 760 and 7600, “ The Amish machine gun” …it’s all the Amish carry, so do most folks here…Very popular weapon.
How have these held out over the past two years? Anything you'd have done differently?
If they are in real good shape the ones I’ve seen are $1200 and up
The old Lacrosse boots were made in America. They are now made off shore and the quality has gone into the toilet. I owned a large gun/archery shop and sold many pairs of Lacrosse boots prior to them moving off shore in 2001. I NEVER had a return. I my self have had two pairs of my own Lacrosse Burley boots fail with the soles coming off. Lacrosse doesn't want to hear anything nor offer replacement or repair. As far as I'm concerned, they SUCK !
👏👏👏 bravo on a good in depth review thankyou
The 'circle sliding thing' is called a stopper ball.
Linemen's.....not Linesmen's. LOL
Awesome review Jason. Thanks
I really enjoyed your video. I’m 72 & I wear eyeglasses. I want to buy binoculars & I’m willing to spend $400. I want to spot deer, turkey & other wildlife. I want to bird watch as well. I’m currently looking at the Vortex Diamondbacks HD in 8x42, 10x42 & 10x50. I’d really appreciate your recommendation on which binoculars to buy. I’d consider other brands. John
Love the 760/7600 rifles. I have a 7600 in .35 Whelen and my son has a 760 BDL in .30-06.
My neighbor wear rubber boots to work at crown Zellerbach paper mill in Oregon City. Then his son started wearing rubber boots. They both went crippled!
Is this crown or public land you’re scouting?
Fun. Good camera work on this video too.
I was reading that one rubber boot manufacturer in Europe (not China) consumes about 750 tons of natural rubber per year to make 700,000 pairs of boots by hand. The rubber sourced from sustainable plantations in Vietnam. For the sake of the planet we should absolutely be seeking where possible to consume materials like natural rubber which are carbon sinks, are more biodegradable and don't cause plastic micro-pollution.

Nice video. Thanks.
I got 2 pairs of steel toe muck and 1 pair of the Bogs Snake boots. Not sure what will last the longest I’m in very rural Kentucky. We got snakes and nothing but blackberry briar everywhere. My biggest complaint so far is how hot they get in the summer.
Killing animals for fun? Sicko!
The first kind of boots like these I got for Horse work are from tractor supply, they're by Itasca they're similar to the first one you displayed but they have really good traction on the sole actually
LE CHAMEAU boot is the best made boot of all the boots you reviewed. No synthetic rubber, 100% sap rubber, leather lined. Not really a bout for different terrain mostly used for field bird hunting
❤ Awesome hunt congratulations to Grandpa😊
idk how you come to that -i use rubber boots all the time and the most locking thing with rubber boots is the lock of rigid thick sole , and thick rubber should be doubled and strong around foot area so foot is stable. rigid sole is what makes you foot not roll and be able to stay stable if you step on edge of the terrain. soft boots make you foot slide all over the place
I'm only 10 minutes in to your reviews and I can tell right off your not very good at this. Sorry, but that's my take.
Im looking for a 760 for myself in 30-06. That is the ULTIMATE go anywhere protect yourself from everything rifle. Legal in all 50 states too if im not mistaken, but dont quote me. Me personally, if i ever go to Alaska someday ill be having this as my adventurers best friend. And yes i plan to get some 10 round mags too because bears and moose alike. If you believe the native peoples the hairy man too. 30-06 will take out an elephant sized critter so a 10 foot ape man thingy should be no problem. Lmfao, in all seriousness these guns are terribly underrated in my book. And im not an old man neither, im 24 and even i can see the value in something like this. Could be a good SHTF too, depends on who all will be using 30-06 as a bug-out cartridge so id think not many.
This is by a good amount, the best binoculars review I’ve seen to date. Thank you very much for spending all that money and time to educate us.
For yourself and some of the guys you know who track deer in Maine, what is the average shot distance in yards and what is longest shot you've had?
Well you tried your best great video are you going to try for him next year if so GOOD LUCK THANKS for sharing keep on videoing 👍🏼🦌🇺🇸
That was the best review of binoculars that I've seen and I believe I've watched them all. Thank you very much
Man you get in there that’s some thick shit and that’s where the big boys will be too some sick ass footage of how a monster lives and lives another day he knows he’s fighting for his life they are very smart animals I always try to think like they do but they live there yr. Round I don’t and yes get outsmarted too it’s ok they will make a mistake This is some true/real on the edge hunting keep it up I will be following 👍🏼🦌🇺🇸
Now you have me on a string I need to see what happens with this buck Good tracking video good luck be safe and ENJOY the woods 👍🏼🦌🇺🇸
How do u feel about the jx3 after several years , is it your go to saddle ?
Very good review. Only thing missing is the Apexel 10x42 Auto Focus Binoculars? I find these to be crystal clear, compact, well built . Wondering what is your take on these?
Great rifle. But look at a Browning BLR.
I Walk threw running creeks i have a gold claim i need a boot that's durable and light it needs to take a beating and be high enough to not let the water in . any recommendations out there please
Congratulations. Nothing like a Maine moose hunt. Great memories for everyone
Great video jason, i was looking for a review of rubber boots since the last month, only finding outdated videos that does not describe the true utility of the boots. I was planning on buying the Arxus Primo Nord Zip, i have not seen any videos reviewing this brand of boots, do you know the brand?, and well if you have time, could you make a video for beginners about rubber boots? its only a request, im so sorry if it is weird what im saying, but thanks in advance and thanks for this video.
Been hunting with 7600 for 22 years never had a animal go 60 yards in 30/06 the gun is a beast
I have 8 pairs of USA made Lacrosse Burlys , big chiefs, Trapers, and vintage Professionals top lace. All in perfect condition, 15 to 40 year old boots and waders, and all used all year fishing and hiking . I used rubber protectant on them and keep them stored in dark they will last forever. The china made aren't same quality
Magazine bud.. hand on magazine
I would have been shocked if he got that deer. Tracking a mature deer is very difficult. They aren’t stupid. Standing is a lot better.
Last 2 pairs of muck and last 2 pairs of lacrosse have been junk. None lasted a season and I only get to hunt 20-25 days a year. There is a definite market if someone will build a quality item.
In Fall of 1977, when I was 17, I followed a nice track in big north MN woods in 6” fresh snow. Going north After about 3 hours the trail ended. The deer had walked backwards on its own trail for about 15 yards, then made a big jump, landing a good 15 feet off his trail, then headed northwest. I was amazed how smart he was to use that tactic to lose me. I followed the new trail for 2 more hours, never did see it
Very annoying video, editing reminds me of Max headroom, oops I had a short snooze just there😴😴😴😴
The opportunity for kick outs is pretty concerning
It’s something to keep in mind. But I can say that since using them I haven’t had any trouble and I’ve really liked how small they stack together, which is the benefit you get for sacrificing the pivoting tree bracket
cool video are you still using the jx3 and would still recommend it?
Thanks, yes I still use it and recommend it. I also use a Dryad Drey. Which one I use on a particular day depends on my situation. You can check out my Drey review here:jasontomeoutdoors.com/dryad-drey-review/ which compares the JX3 to the Drey
