Totally. Like sure it isn't perfect, but the way he acted and spoke made you say, "That is Thrawn", at least imo. I honestly would've rather they had the same voice actors from Rebels play all the characters, but we got what we got
I think Thrawn gained so much weight because he didn't have time or resources to train his body like before and he spent all of his time analyzing the future, learning about more history, and perfecting his battle strategies biding his time to come back to the normal galaxy

You're right, but that scene is still funny to me because it's not like they've been waiting for him to give a speech or something, he has just been chillin with these dudes the whole time like: "Okay guys, once Morgan Elsbeth arrives you're all going to stand like this and then I'm gonna come out and you start chanting my name. Just like we practiced! We need to make it look really cool and epic. Good job everyone. You guys are the best!

Thrawn does not have access to the familiar society and military-industrial complex he knew. He had to keep his people together, organise and lead the repair to all the damage to their equipment and ships, and keep up discipline to the troops they had remaining. Add that onto his estimated age, and he's probably not that lean mean fighting machine he used to be, but manages to still hold onto some moderate fitness despite it all. I live in handwavium, and this performance is fine to me.
Chiss life expectancy is around 80 years old. Thrawn here is old therefore his appearance makes sense. Based on the novel Thrawn Ascendancy it seems the Chiss (like humans) appear older as they age. One of the older military leaders in that book I believe was described as having a gray beard and as we all know the (younger) Chiss characters have black hair.
I believe Thrawns storm troopers are all mindless zombies controlled by the red tape inbuned with nightsister magic. I feel Captain Enoch is a similar entity to what Marrock was. If you dont believe about the zombies part look at how they had a split second delay after Enoch said "march!" Then they melted in line behind him like they were mindlessly following Enoch. Also Ezra's chainmill underneath his clothes is melded together Storm trooper dog tags. If Ezra has that many dog tags and Thrawn has that many storm troopers.. i mean you see where im going with this?

Lars is killing Thrawn's performance imo gives me chills. and if you think his performance is lacking because he isn't boney or fit enough, reminder he's supossed to round his 70's at this point in time. 2nd of all I've noticed (especially within the Ashoka series but other live action show as well) translating visual appearances from animation to live action verbatim straddles that "uncanny valley" line. CW and especially Rebels characters had very profound proportions to make every character design pop. the beginning of this series had me kinda worried when I saw the Phoenix group's mural that they were going to emulate the animated visual style too hard. but I'm happy they didn't. it makes characters like Ezra and Sabine more human and characters like Thrawn, CW era Anakin & even the clones a lot more believable. on the flipside of that if they adapt irl proportions verbatim to an animated show it could look just as off. imagine CW & Rebels Maul with actual Ray Park proportions.
I know this is a Star Wars channel, and im mostly a star wars guy, but I see Thrawn as the SW equivalent to Star Trek's Khan Noonien Singh. Might have been cool if they went in the direction of him actually looking more fit and living, and adapting to this inhospitable world.
