Yeah I've admired the design of their logo for quite some time. I do normally shop at PetSmart more than Petco though. I just generally find more what I need for my cats there.
I was a Petco this one time and i was looking at the dog treats and one of the workers there just grabs a dog treat and eats it saying its edible and tasty and ask if we wanted to try some. It was a fun experience :)
Petco i find to be friendlier and more helpful. Also, the store seems brighter with more lighting. Petsmart is always more dim. Just an observation. I prefer Petco
I avoid getting animals at either but I would say petco takes WAY better care of their animals. There is definitely room for improvement, but they are better than petsmart
Alex Barnes petco is way more brighter and friendlier they also hold a lot of pet costume parties that raise money at least in my town they do but they also have more chic and fancier toys and pet wearables
I feel like Petco is more of a specialty store -- if I want a sweater for my boa constrictor I go there. If, however, I need bulk food for my dog, I go to PetsMart.
I've also notice that Petco has a larger variety of exotic pets. Most notably they sell a nice variety of salt water fish. Where as Petsmart and most other pet shops mainly just sell fresh water fish.
@@MaryC861 Personally in my town as well Petco is the only place (besides the specialty reptile store) that sells feeder mice. Both of the Petsmarts in my city sell hamsters, 'fancy' mice, and other rodents, but not regular feeder mice, which I think is really interesting
I bought two "male" mice from petco once, I asked if they were male for sure and they said of course we don't put males and females together...long story short I now have 10 little baby mice running around.
Petco has far more supplies for “alternative pets”(I.e. not cats and dogs!)...I own Guinea Pigs and generally can ONLY find a decent variety of products for them at Petco
I’ve realized it’s mostly biased on managers. I have 2 Petsmart’s near me and 2 Petco’s. The two stores of each company give off completely different vibes. No two stores are the same from what I’ve seen lol
Frfr I work at a recently built Petco and in the 2 years it has been open we are reading better stats than any of the other dozens of locations we have scattered around the city that have been their for years, even celebrated high milestones that corporate paid for a small party
I think Petco is better. Once I was at Petco and they were actually feeding their reptiles and even birds fruits and veggies. Also the one near me takes really good care of their fish.
Haha, yes. But all the small cages are the WORST no room for the animals to explore. We got one, because our hamsters were small at the time, until we realized how BIG hamsters could get. Now, my family resorts the cutting holes in storage bin, stick tubes through, etc. We realized pet stores were absolutely trash.
Honestly it varies from store to store. I've been to PetSmarts that have great costumer service and great animal care, and I've been to one (my local one) that has okay customer service and shitty animal care. Petcos are the same, but I believe Petco has tried to be more ethical by not selling wild caught animals anymore such as hermit crabs. I think animal treatment should always come first in my opinion.
I work at Petco, we get minimum wage, our hours slashed, AND we're expected to learn about animal nutrition on our own time. This makes it almost impossible to keep employees and we end up training new people into positions like dog trainer and groomer WAY faster than we should. I see Petco collapsing first, tbh.
Rey Luellen I work at petco too as a trainer and I think that your stores success is all based on partners. Your hours get cut if you are meeting sales and you only make minimum if you have no plans on moving up in the company. At my store we all work together to learn the nutrition and we work hard to make sales so we are good if you aren’t doing that then it’s not the overall company
Our dog trainer is excellent and makes 40 cents above minimum wage and has been working there for three years, coorprate keeps denying any attempted raises. We make the 2nd most in our district. The only people we have are the people who would endure ANYTHING to work with animals. We ARE a passionate bunch, which is why it's devastating for us to only have 2 employees on shift and leave customers waiting or unattended. They want us to be constantly trying to engage and educate to boost sales, but where are we supposed to do that when one employee is working the register while the other is doing the hourly animal walk?
Pet supplies plus gives you on the clock training courses on pet nutrition, they have for years. I liked that it’s completely unbiased too, from what I could remember it let you pick a few brands of your choice off the shelf and compare the GA and ingredients yourself. I don’t generally like these major retail pet chains but I could definitely see the big 2 crumbling eventually.
well, you can always try to get a job at PetSmart. You have experience, so I'm sure they'll take you. also, trainers and groomers at petsmart make decent money from what i've heard.
Petco just recently banned artificial foods so that alone secured me as a customer. But overall they just have a better aesthetic, and I like their rewards program, and discounts that they offer
PetSmart has a similar rewards program but you can redeem at the register instead of activating them online or whatever. They also pricematch to Co and Chewy
For me, we use Petco for our dogs. However for my lizard (got him at a petco) we buy his stuff from the PetSmart near me because they are hooked up with an exotic vet (literally an office connected to their building). And that veterinarian does everything for all the reptiles and animals there, the one that I go to. She helped so much when my beardy was ill. Buy some propane.
My experience, owning reptile, petco has more products available that I need, but they also care for their animals more poorly, putting many reptiles or small animals in small enclosures that aren’t cleaned often. I support petsmart more as a company due to the slightly better animal care, but the product diversity in petco is much better.
At the petco i work at we clean all enclosures twice a week. Mice get cleaned every 2 days, and all fish are fed fresh frozen foods. But thats just my store, we are just lucky our crew actually cares about the animals
Our Petco always has nice clean reptile/tarantula/snake cages, they have hides, clean water and food dishes (reptiles). The small animal cages always seem pretty well taken care of also. The ferrets barely ever stink as they seem to clean their litter boxes quite a bit. Petsmart crams too many mice into their cages as they are mostly sold for feeders but the store is pretty well taken care besides that. I prefer Petco because it's only 5 minutes down the road, Petsmart is a whole field trip, I have also noticed the diversity of products at Petco.
Both are pretty much equally terrible when it comes to their live animal sale practices. Advocate for poor care, bad and dangerous care in store, mill bred animals. It’ll vary a bit from location to location, but none are good. I will give petco a point over petsmart though for sometimes having their betta fish in filtered tanks instead of those awful cups
I would agree if it werent for the fact that petsmart doesn't let us give animals fresh veggies or greens. Birds and reptiles and rodents NEED veggies. But they dont allow it.
Both companise badly abuse and neglect their animals. If you think the reptiles on the sales floor arent being cared for properly you should see the ones they keep in the back of the store
I personally don’t like Petsmart, from a bad experience with them a few years ago. One day, I brought my dog to get groomed at Petsmart, and when I got back to get him, he was scratching at his eye, clearly something was wrong. I later found out that one of the groomers literally cut his eye with their grooming scissors, and never told us. Now whenever we go to get him groomed, he has serious anxiety and stress from that event, and I feel so bad for him. Still to this day I’m super upset with whoever groomed him for not telling us about it. 😔 Edit: just to be clear, we stopped going to Petsmart for their grooming and other services afterwards, and now go to Petcoach for grooming, and I’ve noticed Petco is a lot better about pet nutrition, and stopped using artificial stuff in there food, which shows how much they actually care about our pets. 😊
Zelda Collins, Yes, I totally agree. I'm just so glad that the injury didn't make him completely blind, as far as I know, he can still see pretty well in that eye, but there's a possibility he could be partially blind, but no real serious injury in the eye thank gosh.
Yeah and at least the petco I go to you can see big cages for hamsters even thought there are critter trail’s I see none that have been bought which shows you how much the employees there care about your little pet or big pet that’s why I’m never going to petsmart it’s just bad for pets and I remember a video I saw of munchie’s place reviewing the tiny tales hamster cage she said that one of the employees said oh a tiny trail those are good cages which shows you that petsmart barely cares about pets.
paula competition is good for the consumer. to have one service provide everything would allow them to control the market how they like and thats, bad and super anti consumer
I can’t believe this video was posted so recently with no mention of Petco going artificial free and being the FIRST major pet retailer to do so!! I’d definitely say Petco is setting a huge step away from this pet warehouse like Petsmart!
@@jasminangel6718 Which, for the most part, don't have any negative effects on the animals. So yeah, artificial, while often thrown around as a big bad thing, is mostly harmless and not a bad thing at all. Petco is just using it for a bit a popularity boost.
@@mbrookshire918 Yep, they just did it for popularity. If they cared about pets, they wouldn't be selling cramped little crittertrail cages and little betta setups. Or getting their reptiles from the equivalent of puppy mills.
Help I am dying actually from rotavirus depends on the species, most reptiles and fish are captive bred but there are many that are not. They can flourish or flounder in captivity, generally wild caught animals are looked down upon though.
@@Generatrix you think any animal in at petsmart is happy anyway? That makes me sound super sensitive - it's not that honeslty, it's just they are usually in pretty shit conditions
in my area there is a Petco and PetSmart basically side to side with a few buildings and a street separating each other. I like that I don't have to go far to see what each has to offer lol.
Except no one is EVER available to help me when I need it at my local one. It's like a ghost town and I have to wander around FOREVER. But, it's the only place around that sells me feeder mice so I have to go there and go ghost hunting every 10 days or so. Sigh.
I stumbled across that as an observation. I was astounded going into a retail store and the employee went out of his way to see what I needed, got it correctly identified, and a great price. He even said I could return it and get something else if it didn't work out. I told him I wouldn't return it, not fair to the business, but let him know he did a badass job.
I work at petco currently and went into a petsmart recently for the first time and I was blown away by how much nicer everything was in comparison to petco, and I bought my dog a new bowl there, I felt so dirty 😆😆😆
I always thought Petco and Petsmart were some how linked, like owned by the same bigger company or something lol. But I stopped going to petsmart because when I adopted a rat there, the lady picked him up by the tail (which you should NEVER do) and literally threw him in the box and was all around just extremely rough with such a small animal. I had to run in there again years later and they had a dog adoption day and all the dogs were crammed into TINY cages barking their heads off. I've heard some horror stories about petco but have yet to see anything for myself, so I opt to go with them.
That is so HORRIBLE, honestly that woman shouldnt work there if shes gonna grab small animals like that. I work at petsmart and I would never do that. That's just plain horrible
Petco does animal adoption days too. They let the smaller dogs out in a little area. But bgger dogs usually stay in the kennels. since they can just jump the barrier. At least at my petco
As an employee and leader of one of these company’s stores, I’d say the biggest difference between the two is that Petsmart still has a warehouse feel, having more variety in stock and more options, but Petco seeing smaller has the extra time to put more emphasis in animal sales, care, and services (as you said). Petco in January 2019 got rid of all cat and dog food with artificial ingredients like flavors, preservatives and colors, eliminating popular brands such as friskies, pedigree, and milkbone creating an even more limited selection of products. While i can see they’re trying to focus on healthier options for pets, creating an environment that feels organic and very “part of the family”, they’ve shortened their market and audience which is risky; however petsmart i think still has that costco/walmart feel where you have a wider selection of products at cheaper prices which many desire but it doesn’t feel very homey “part of the family feel”. In all petsmart has more customers in total, and Petco has less but more repeat customers. I am proud to work for one of these retailers and i have no quarrel with the other. I definitely agree which what you said that petsmart is like the expanded version of the pet section of a grocery store and Petco is an expanded version of a basic pet store.
But petsmart sells lots of things that will kill animals, including their own brand tiny tails. Petco doesn’t sell the best things either but they’re trying to be more informed and sell what’s healthiest for your pet, not what’s cutest and will get your kids attention.
I work at Petco and we got a new CEO last year. Hours have been getting cut and the budget is tighter. But I think they'll be fine. I'm a reef keeper at home and I wanted to work someplace to get a discount on my hobby. I found out that Petsmart does only freshwater fish, where Petco does fresh and salt water fish.
Beaste Beat there are several different vendors that the stores have options to order from... as far as the specific vendors the store I work at uses I don’t know but there’s quite a few vendors that are used.
I think PetSmart avoids saltwater fish because idiots don't take care of them and they die. Too many parents would just buy their kid a saltwater fish and throw some tap water in there with a bit of salt. it's probably safer for the fish this way. everyone I know who keeps saltwater fish just go to aquarium stores since they mostly carry more saltwater than freshwater.
Learning that Petco was sold in 2015 makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t been in there since my rabbit Molly died (rest in peace) until I adopted two rabbits last year; to say they’re more skewed towards dog owners is an understatement.
PetSmart went from privately owned to public at some point in the last decade, and we got a new CEO in 2018. I work there. It's changing, but as I'm just a lowly cog in the monstrously huge machine, I couldn't tell you how.
That was the problem at PetSmart. A lot of stores had a one filtration or 2 where one of them connects to the majority of takes so if one tank gets sick then it's going to spread. We actually had the fish not available for sale because we had ick so bad that it spread to the other tanks and also a lot of animals that come in sick from the vendor as well. so we normally had a lot of cages filled with animals. The feeder fish are a different story as they get stuck to the filter so easily (not a way to stop it) or they just die because they have short life spans. Petco seems to be better with animals and fish. We don't have a lot of sick fish and once a tank does get contaminated then it's solved quickly. Also we don't have one big system so the illness doesn't spread.
Mmmm bananas my friend had her/his beta fish for years like 5 years. He got it at pet smart. (Sorry for the he/her, they were female but he’s trans now)
@@scin1tyThat's ok it's amazing considering most of the pet stores have terrible conditions especially for fish I had a goldfish that I got from a fair for around 5 years but sadly he passed away last week
to me it’s always seemed like petsmart had more pet supplies for sale while petco had more animals for sale; a larger selection/variety of animals as well
Which could be the reason of PetSmart's lead in the business. Maintenance of a pet is much more expensive that the pet itself most of the time. If they have loyal customers, their revenue would grow largely
It's the opposite here, PetSmart has all the animals(and they manage to neglect all of them lmao) and Petco has the quality supplies with a couple animals and the store is cleaner with slightly Superior animal Care (not by much) definitely prefer going to my petco seeing the animal care doesn't make me want to barf or cry and I can get some safe toys for my little mice.
@@nathanrileyschulz5862 nah. Look at the fish section especially and it's night and day. Petco offers more variety and unique fish. PetSmart sticks with the more common fish and only introduces maybe a few unique colors of said fish.
@@danibobmk1998 petco reccomends heat lamps for leopard geckos when they actually need a heat pad cuz they asorb heat from their bellies but petsmart reccomends heat mats for leopard geckos which is good
I worked at PetSmart for several years. I was a drug addict/major alcoholic. I was nearly black out drunk every single day at work there. For some reason i was never fired. Pretty shocking. I was an extremely good employee, even as drunk and high as i was. I was named employee of the month on many occasions. Got many raises, and ended up becoming a leader. I quit and rejoined several times. I have to say, it was a decent place to work.
jthedog and the sad truth is everything amazon is doing, Sears has already done A LONG time ago. Sears sold vehicles, homes and everything in and around them. They practically invited the online store but it was way too soon. Company man really needs to do a “sears, once bigger then you knew”
The Petco near me has a staff that owns their own reptiles and animals, and it really shows by how knowledgeable they are and how well they take care of the animals there. The last time I went to the Petsmart near me I saw a dead snake in one of their cages and one of the employees aggressively said "I'M WORKING ON IT" before storming off. It's no competition.
Just don't go get pets from petco or petsmart. they all come from places where they breed the animal till they can't. Adopt or find someone who just had a litter of the animal you want.its a lot cheaper too
one thing they have in common is that they both treat small animals horribly and spread a lot of misinformation about them which is one big reason as to why it's pretty common to see small animals being mistreated, neglected or abused
I would feel like that too cuz the Petco near me is smaller than the petsmart, and there is less of them, but honestly their both big and are both large coorporations
ExoticLuck I don’t know which stores you’re talking about but I’ve worked for PetSmart as a Petcare associate and we’ve never tortured or hurt the animals. I can’t speak for every store but make sure you have proof before making such claims.
Petco used to sell what would be considered "store brands" of dog food: Beneful, Pedigree, and the like. Now they only sell the higher-end brands (Science Diet, Eukanuba, and the like). PetSmart, on the other hand, still carries both types of dog food. I usually bought a 50-lb bag of dry food for our dog. Ended up going to Costco.
Our local Petsmart has cats from the local animal shelter. The idea is to encourage people to adopt the cats. Sometimes I'l go in and just say hi to all the kitties, but never buy things, cause I'm a broke teenager who's not old enough for a job
Ours does that too. They also allow people to adopt fish that have been brought to their store. It's cheaper than buying the fish they tend to give them to you with instructions. I know at mine the people in the fish section are extremely educated about the fish they are selling, they refuse to sell fish to people who haven't cycled their tanks, and they ask for a list of fish that are in your tank when you go to buy because not all fish get along.
Petsmart near me does a good job for fish and reptiles Petco however had to have a 5 year old tell them how to make it so there baby leopard geckos did not die because they were on sand and were digesting it when trying to eat food
SneakyRaptor the gamer Not all Pet co or Pet Smarts have bad care, it’s just that the majority of people who work there take very little care of the animals they sell and know very little. Betta fish and goldfish are the most common abused pets because people who buy them and people who sell them don’t educate themselves. If you work in a pet store and you specialize in a store that only sells pets and pet related products then by all means you should know well enough. Pet co keeps their betta fish in tiny cups btw.
I remember my old manager from another place went to PetSmart and the fish tanks were beautiful. I mean she got her staff to clean them out. I could tell the difference!!! I was so impressed.
There’s no difference I’ve been kicked out of both multiple times Edit: editing comments are corny but people are asking what I did so...I pressed down on bin full of those rubber chicken dog toys repeatedly after being asked to stop
@@lol-lt5dv yeah I recommend this restaurant great meals and cheap prices you could even get meals for free if you don't let anyone see you eating the animals.
Small locally owned pet stores...that’s a neat memory. There was one where I live that was “owned” by a Red Lory and a Blue and Gold Macaw. They had the run of the place and asked the customers for spare change, along with an impressive repertoire of wisecracks. Shopping at small businesses really was more enjoyable than the big box mart experience is now.
In the two states I've lived in, this holds true! Which is why when I'm looking for something, I usually go to petsmart first, that and they always seem to be closer. XD
izzy beans I agree. The Petsmart in my town is tiny and has a cruel aesthetic, while the petco is so friendly and has all sorts of reptiles, birds, rodents, and fish
“Pets never get tired of eating that stuff!” ... *looks at my dog who doesn’t always eat all of her food, dry or canned* Yeeeeeeaaaaahhhh.... about that......
Have you thought about changing the food up? I order from the Farmer’s Dog for my yorkie and she loves it! She gets a month worth of 3 types of fresh meals: Turkey, beef or pork, and she devours it!
My 15 month old Bernese who has become so picky that I currently have Hills LB adult, ProPlan LB adult, Eukanuba LB adult and canned versions of all them... They do tire of their food.
At my PetSmart, all the employees love animals! When I got my guinea pigs, Bonnie and Clyde, the lady had named them, told us their favorite foods, and stopped is from getting a shyer pig when we made a joke about being loud.
I work at a petsmart in Atlanta and I can vouch that. I work in pet care and the amount of sick animals we ALWAYS have is horrendous. they allow sick animals to be sold rather than spending money on treatment. I've had animals that would be easy to treat, but due to just lack of care and lack of wanting to put money into animal care they're just left to suffer and die. there's a solid few employees that truly care about the health of the animals but the amount of greedy corporate slaves (managers mostly) make it incredibly hard to give them accurate care. Our fish were dying frequently, 100's every day due to not having cotton filters which caused the PH to sky rocket. I told multiple managers and district manager AT LEAST 10 times and nothing got done because they don't care. it's one of the cheapest pieces of equipment and incredibly easy to order but they'd rather put the money into proprietary brands and dog grooming while letting the rodents, fish and reptiles die and live in awful conditions. we aren't even ALLOWED to give reptiles proper lighting that would suit their specific requirement and without that they have life long defects and can even die. It's disgusting. Petsmart is absolute trash and does not care for the animals, customers or employees, only profit. I've heard petco is about the same. I have been to 1 single petco though that seemed to be doing generally good in pet care. sorry for the rant, these industries are just disgusting and we need to stop worshipping them and ignoring/excusing this behavior.
sadly the nice ones are only nice in the sense that they're incredibly good at covering up just how many sick and dead animals we have. I once again have seen this first hand working here.
I’ve found it’s really up to your local stores and their specific managers. The Petco near me has better service and lately has been taking cafe of their animals just as well as Petsmart.
Yeah, the petsmart in the city where I live is shit compared to the petco, the petco is really nice. The petco in the town where i went to college though is terrible, and there isn’t a petsmart there afaik.
Idk there’s 4 of each within a hour drive for me and ye know every now and again you wanna go see what everybody got and I swear every petsmart it’s like they would highly prefer you u turned back out the door
Petco has stepped up their game in the past couple of years. They went to higher end brands, no preservatives and fillers. They're going after the "all natural" higher end specialty store.
Wendy Pierce yea and Petsmart has kind of been getting worse with quality, especially when they released their new Tiny Tales brand and making hamsters seem even more like kids toys when they're living beings. Petco selling high quality pet food just makes me wish I could afford their prices and never have to shop at Petsmart again.
@@dancingghost930 Those cages that look like neon castles, yikes! They need more stuff that's meant for a family room not a kid's room. Not much design attention has been given to the small animals and it seems to be in the same unfortunate place that cat furniture was in about 15-20 years ago.

I really enjoyed it and the people and pets I worked with. Fond memories. At the time, they had 3 stores. Last time I checked, it still exists and they have expanded to more stores.

I’m a dog trainer for an unleashed by petco (only supplies w/o the live animals, usually for one stop shop purposes in the city). I’ve always heard that working for petco is better than petsmart. Plus the products are artificial free. The ownership of petco bouncing around is REALLY evident in the mass amounts of computer training they make you do on a weekly basis.
I work for one of these companies (ide rather not say which one) and I have to say it depends on what store you go to, some petcos are better than some petsmarts and Vice versa. Now I live in a bigger city and I have a PetCo closer to me but they are smaller and never have what I need. I drive a little farther to the PerSmart because they have everything I need, really good prices on stuff, and I find the staff to be really great in both PetSmart locations here. Not saying the staff at PerCo isn’t great, I didn’t interact with them. They just happen to be the better option for me but PetCo is cool too
My girlfriend is a trainer at PetCo. I think they're better because the offer things like grooming, walking, "puppy playtime," donations, VetCo and more. They have a wide variety of everything where PetSmart seems smaller in size. PetCo has more animals and more food/items.

Why did I just watch a 11 minute video about which pet store is better
We're together on that question... and I'm from Brasil which makes me even more lost why I watched this! hahaha
I did because I thought I'd learn about who treated the animals better so I know where I should shop.
This didn't help.

Because Veggie, *you wanna make sure they don’t eat ya fellow veggies*
Look I'm watch this at two in the morning the day before I get a parrot I am asking myself all of the questions I can spam
Rey Luellen yes, I have the same problem at the petco I work at!
Nurse Courtney what’s their rewards program like?
Petco also takes Petsmart coupons and reward dollars.
Amber Porter petsmart takes petco coupons too
PetSmart has a similar rewards program but you can redeem at the register instead of activating them online or whatever.
Edit: just to be clear, we stopped going to Petsmart for their grooming and other services afterwards, and now go to Petcoach for grooming, and I’ve noticed Petco is a lot better about pet nutrition, and stopped using artificial stuff in there food, which shows how much they actually care about our pets. 😊
People should sue Petsmart, cutting an animals EYE with scissors is not something you can just ignore, an animal could get blinded by that!
Zelda Collins, Yes, I totally agree. I'm just so glad that the injury didn't make him completely blind, as far as I know, he can still see pretty well in that eye, but there's a possibility he could be partially blind, but no real serious injury in the eye thank gosh.

Neither of them take good care of their reptiles
I stumbled across that as an observation. I was astounded going into a retail store and the employee went out of his way to see what I needed, got it correctly identified, and a great price. He even said I could return it and get something else if it didn't work out. I told him I wouldn't return it, not fair to the business, but let him know he did a badass job.

Agree 100%
But petsmart sells lots of things that will kill animals, including their own brand tiny tails. Petco doesn’t sell the best things either but they’re trying to be more informed and sell what’s healthiest for your pet, not what’s cutest and will get your kids attention.

RealToWonder you think petsmart cares at all about its animals?
Learning that Petco was sold in 2015 makes a lot of sense. I hadn’t been in there since my rabbit Molly died (rest in peace) until I adopted two rabbits last year; to say they’re more skewed towards dog owners is an understatement.

There's one thing they both have in common though: They both carry dead or disease-ridden fish
I have never gone to a pet store where at least half of their beta fish are alive
And reptiles

I know at mine the people in the fish section are extremely educated about the fish they are selling, they refuse to sell fish to people who haven't cycled their tanks, and they ask for a list of fish that are in your tank when you go to buy because not all fish get along.
Our petco does this. Our humane society actually doesn't allow the petsmart in our town to adopt out cats.
I'm a broke teenager who doesn't want a job
Nemesis Chan well maybe in the future you would like to make something of yourself? Good luck?

As someone who works at petsmart, I can confirm it is Pet Smart. It used to be Pet's Mart, but they changed it so it sounds less business-orientated.
And im just over here "petco feels nicer than petsmart"
Little Person i like petsmart more it’s nicer where i live
Hailyn Adams It does though! I don’t know why, petsmart gives me “You shouldn’t be here” vibes
i be here having no petco
Our pet smart let’s us pet the cats and guinea pigs etc. they only let us not pet the parrots :p
no i got my hamster from there and she was VERY malnourished
I can tell you what Petco and Pet Smart have very in common.
Their horrible care for fish.
Petsmart near me does a good job for fish and reptiles Petco however had to have a 5 year old tell them how to make it so there baby leopard geckos did not die because they were on sand and were digesting it when trying to eat food
jade silva Lol reptiles too how could I forget.
And birds
I remember my old manager from another place went to PetSmart and the fish tanks were beautiful. I mean she got her staff to clean them out. I could tell the difference!!! I was so impressed.
There’s no difference I’ve been kicked out of both multiple times

Small locally owned pet stores...that’s a neat memory. There was one where I live that was “owned” by a Red Lory and a Blue and Gold Macaw. They had the run of the place and asked the customers for spare change, along with an impressive repertoire of wisecracks. Shopping at small businesses really was more enjoyable than the big box mart experience is now.
I think it depends on where you live. The petsmart I know looks like a fancy Dillon's. The petco I know looks like a sad Wal-Mart

Petsmart and target

I don't really have favorite pet stores or just stores in general
The only difference I need to know is Petsmart has 0/10 care for there animals and Petco has 1/10 animal care.
...also -10 for Employee care and Wages!
At my PetSmart, all the employees love animals! When I got my guinea pigs, Bonnie and Clyde, the lady had named them, told us their favorite foods, and stopped is from getting a shyer pig when we made a joke about being loud.
At my PetSmart they care WAY more about the animals than PetCo does. Especially the reptiles.
Conspiracy: Petsmart and Petco are owned by the same person
I’ve found it’s really up to your local stores and their specific managers. The Petco near me has better service and lately has been taking cafe of their animals just as well as Petsmart.
THANK YOU FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE SAID IT!
@@RajZoneTrader You obviously havent looked at the food Petco sells then.
