Hello Kenyetta, new sub here. Just began following Texas 2.5 Jonathan. I have an offset but not a LSG. I looked hard at these and wanted one year and half ago, but being new to smokin meat (back then) I kept my investment smaller. Now wish I had gone with them. What a nice premium pit with heavy steel, workmanship, fit & finish. Thanks for such a great unboxing and walk around video. Look forward to seeing you cook on it. Thanks again- PHIL N FLORENCE
This is the exact same grill that I ordered with the exact upgrades besides the custom plate you got for your logo... Hopefully I'll get mine in December or January... Here in California Enjoying your video buddy
We must be long lost kin!! sorry was spying your other smokers as you did the walk around. I am going to get a Lone star Grillz but 1st I have to get rid of my current (cheap) off set and my Kamado. As you panned to show the stack I see that you have a MAK smoker (I do too) I have a kamado and I have a Weber Performer (looks like you have that off to the right of the new smoker!!) I also have a Pit barrel smoker (its a rib making machine!) you have a new subscriber! its nice to meet folks with my same affliction lol
Hey Gadjet Griller... thanks for subscribing! I have a Weber MasterTouch which is like the Performer’s brother. When I made this video I had a Pit Barrel Cooker that I recently sold after acquiring two Hunsaker drums. I admit it.... I’m afflicted too (or is it addicted?).... LOL.
Robert Marshall you are right Robert! They (Lone star grills) have a 8 to 12 week wait before they ship their product! The MAK pellet grill I have does a really good job and puts out a really good smoke flavor (for a pellet popper lol) I mostly use it during the long hot Texas Summers then switch to the off set when the thermometer finally drops into the 70’s and below. It will have to work longer this year!
You can fry your bacon and make your eggs and pancakes on the griddle for breakfast, while at the same time, you slow-smoke your ribs, chicken and brisket for lunch/dinner. Make a day in the yard out of it. Nice...real nice!
Congrats on your 24x40! That’s what I ordered originally and then LSG announced the 20” models. That’s a great pick! Get yourself a pry bar with a nail puller, it will make the uncrating much process much easier...... something like this amzn.to/3tODb4r Also, have a wire cutter or something that will allow you to easily snip the straps. Happy smoking!
What a great pit! Congratulations on the new cooker. I can tell you’re excited and I can’t wait to see your future videos. Thank you for taking the time to upload this.
Thanks for your compliment. This was easily the most excited that I've been about getting any of my grills/smokers. Getting a good stick burner feels like I'm reaching for the pinnacle of BBQ.
I don't recall the exact timing but I know it was much closer to 8 weeks than 7 months. Also, I originally placed my order for one of their 24" offsets but while I was waiting for it to be fabricated, LSG announced their redesigned 20" offsets so I changed my order to the 20x42.
I love this first video. Can you do a comparison of the ash pan and how High it is when compared to the opening of the firebox. Also did you buy a cover for it, I’m wondering how the cover would fit with the ash poker on the back? I would love to see more videos!
Yes, I'll try to get a shot of the ash pan inside of the firebox. I also bought a cover from Lone Star Grillz. I haven't tried it with the ash rake & fire poker on the back yet but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't fit. The cover has plenty of extra space for the smoker but its heavy enough to keep it from blowing away in adverse weather.
hombresg33 Shipping to my house in No. CA was $446. ($95 crating fee, $201 shipping & handling fee, $75 residential delivery fee & $75 liftgate charge).
Congrats on that sweet cooker, brother! Be sure an tell yer daughter Mr. Bones said "Two Thumbs Up" on her logo !!! Yer in fer some Great Food, an Fun Cooks! See ya in Th Pit! :-)
Thanks, I will let her know that her work has received compliments. She takes her artwork very seriously & from time to time, I've posted some of her drawings on social media.
Its funny, LSG's website doesn't list the charcoal basket as on option for our model. I only found out about it because it was part of the original order that I had for one of the older pipe smoker models. When I changed my order to the new offset, they asked me if I wanted to keep all of my upgrades in place. My invoice calls it a "Charcoal Basket with S Baffles" and it cost $125. On a separate note, have you had any problems closing your firebox door? I took everything out of the firebox for the seasoning & then put everything back in when I was ready to fire it up. Now I can't get the firebox door to shut flush. The inside of the door handle keeps hitting the rectangular shaped metal box that's inside of the firebox (its on the left side in between the fire grate & I believe the lowest level that you can place your firebox cooking grate. It has to be a simple fix that I'm hoping that I can figure out before I have to call LSG on Monday.
Hmmmm..... The only problem I've had is the handle tightened up quite a bit after I seasoned her. It feels really tight now and makes a small grating sound when I close and open it. As far as the little metal box, are you talking about the welded in piece that catches the latch on the inside of the door handle and keeps it closed? If so, it sounds like something in your firebox is slightly protruding outside of the firebox and keeping the latch from making it all the way behind that metal box where it goes when the door is closed.
Texas 2.5 Thanks bro.... you were right! Logically I knew that something had to be preventing the door from closing because other than the damper & the door handle, the firebox doesn’t have any moving parts. Hearing you say it made me check everything again & I discovered that I did not place the ash catcher add-on into its correct position at the bottom of the firebox. Changing its orientation solved the problem. Now I have to learn how to keep the temp between 225-250 for the seasoning. I’ve been all over the place.... sometimes too hot & sometime too cold. I might try another dry run before I cook something.
Awesome! Glad it worked out. I definitely have alot of learning to do on offset fire management so that I don't have to constantly monitor. But I can already tell this pit is worlds ahead of my last offset. Glad to have other guys around who are learning too!
Not bad. I work in Conroe, so i'm only about 15 minutes away from them. Been to their store a few times, and the quality of the welds and craftsmanship is the best i've ever seen. I used to work for a commercial AC contractor, and we would pipe in water supply, returns, huge ass Water cooled AC units, and whatever else needed water. We had some damn good welders, and after a few years, you can easily spot a great weld from a hack-job. Lone Star Grillz has nothing but great welds on every pit i looked at. Been selling all my "Toys" to make room in the garage for my final toy....a new LSG smoker.
Thanks John. I haven't quite made up mind. My wife bought a couple of whole chickens that she asked me to cook on the Pit Barrel but I might put them in the LSG instead. Brisket has also been on my mind lately.
Your daughters drawing is awesome.
Thanks Derrick!
You are the man!! A Mak, Komodo and Lone Star Grillz. That’s the best backyard yet up ever!!
LOL.... thanks T. O’B!
The Price ,you can't Beat It.👍😎🇺🇸🇺🇸
Great video sir. I’ve been looking into buying one 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks for watching!

Damn....I need one of these smokesr. you have a hell of a collection
Just ordered a 24x40. Any words of wisdom on uncrating? Stressing a bit about it.

@@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ Appreciate the response. Will get the bar ordered. Again, my thanks.
Congratulations on the new pit. I have an LSG 24x40 and love it. Can't wait to see yours in action.
Very nice smoker from LSG. Your arsenal is impressive, along with your MAK and Kamado Joe. Your rocking the perfect storm of BBQ greatness !
Grate video ! Hope to see more in the future 👊🏻
Thanks Rusty. My next video will be on my seasoning experience.
Great video!! Keep em coming

Hey, thanks for the shoutout, bro :) I just got to that part.....should've waited to give all my comments until the end, apparently ;)
Right on! I have been toying with the idea of vlogging for quite awhile. Watching your videos gave me the last push of inspiration that I needed!
That's really cool to hear. Have fun with it! I sure am :)
Very nice! Congrats on the new cooker :) Fire it up!

So it took 7 months for your LsG to be delivered? I thought it was about 8 weeks for shipment??
I don't recall the exact timing but I know it was much closer to 8 weeks than 7 months. Also, I originally placed my order for one of their 24" offsets but while I was waiting for it to be fabricated, LSG announced their redesigned 20" offsets so I changed my order to the 20x42.
How many months did you have to wait to receive that beauty ...
Edgar Gomez The lead time on the redesigned 20” offsets is short compared to the traditional pipe smokers. I only had to wait 3 weeks for mine.

Would you mind giving the specs on that charcoal basket? I will eventually have one made. Thank you!

One other thing: would you mind giving me the measurements of that charcoal basket so I can make one? Thanks so much!
If you don't mind me asking, What was the lead-in time from the moment you placed your order, to the day it was delivered?
I received it 35 days after I placed my order. It took 25 days to build and 10 days to ship from TX to Northern CA.
Not bad. I work in Conroe, so i'm only about 15 minutes away from them. Been to their store a few times, and the quality of the welds and craftsmanship is the best i've ever seen. LSG's craftsmanship has met my expectations & I can say that it was certainly worth the wait. Hope you're able to get yours soon!
BOOM!!!! Awesome! Congrats on the new rig, brother! I can't wait see you fire this baby up. What do you have on tap for the first cook?
Thanks John. I haven't quite made up mind. My wife bought a couple of whole chickens that she asked me to cook on the Pit Barrel but I might put them in the LSG instead. Brisket has also been on my mind lately.
No shame in breaking that in with a brisket!!
