See you on the road!
PLEASE FOR ANYONE WATCHING! If you've watched the vid and are experienced in installing parts on a camper van, skilled in vehicle paintwork, please lend your man a hand, he's the nicest most generous person as we have all seen and would it mean a lot to him!
How blessed can you be? Look at the unwavering amount of love people show you. Such a beautiful thing.
❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful thing for a beautiful person 💕
AMEN & AMEN ❤️🤗🥰😁❤️ much love & best wishes for your new endeavors 😁❤️😁
Folks are like that if you let them. ❤
@@winterisbluafter you clean it suppose to dry a bit before you put vhs in, cause where it cleaned was probably still damped, it can mess up the vhs if still damped
Isn't there someone out there who could volunteer to help this young man with various experts on van conversions! He's so excited! He needs help to do everything right!
That would be a blessing I'm sure if the right the person sees this they will do it in a heartbeat. Great suggestion!
I was thinking the exact same thing!!
Wondering if he can go to an auto repair shop to help and at least guide him....anyone out there willing to assist?
Carbon monoxide monitor for that propane stove!!
I think you should also include A sink with a hand pump and a clean/dirty water tank! I’ve seen videos online of folks building them and it looked pretty simple!
You could also make an outdoor shower and toilet!
Super happy and excited for you Mateo!!
And the heater 💯!
INSULATION is the FIRST line of business in this build Mateo ❤😂💯💯 Hell throw in some heated floors 2 why not🤷♂️😂😂
Sounds awesome
Hi mateo
Yea I like that 70 style paint job as one person said insulation will work wonders in heating and cooling me personally think the latter should be on side and your fan just make sure your measurements are correct don't kn if u said you gonna put outlets in there are not that would be awesome but whatever you do gonna be awesome you kn your budget take your time no need to rush ❤❤❤ BE BLESSED
My favorite part of the video, Mateo? Your enthusiasm. I do think you will enjoy having the cook stove, as much as you love to cook. Does that need to be vented outside?. Good look with everything. Looking forward to watching your build progress!
Great idea! ❤
Hi Mataeo? I I loved all the items you showed and I can't wait to see it all come together.❤
Please remember a CO2/smoke detector! It’s a must have when using propane!! Like watching you and Lars. Glad you had a great experience with Minnesota! I love living here.
Agreed but mount the CO2 detector low as carbon monoxide is heavier than air.
You have enough followers that I bet a few of them would be more than willing to help you with your build out! Thus could be a epic cross country video blog series, meeting up with your subscribers who than help you build out a small piece of your van.
Hell, you could put out the shout out for help, map out what people are willing to do and make a itinerary of where you will go, North, south, east and west bro!
That would be the ultimate nomad road trip build out!
Take the build out on the road bro!
Let me preface this by saying it's not as complicated as it might sound and it's definitely worth the effort. You should consider building a large litter box (just a plastic storage bin from Walmart) with a small exhaust fan (a computer fan mounted on a piece of PVC pipe) ported out of the side of the van right behind the ladder, or through the floor. You could build it under the bed with access to it for cleaning when you open the back doors. Port a hole in the front just large enough for Lars to fit through. That will eliminate the odor and litter mess you dealt with in the astrovan. One part of constructing it would be to add an electric eye that turns the fan on for a couple minutes after Lars passes it, or you could just add a toggle switch up front where you have access to it so you could do it manually as you drive, another option is a remote controlled fan.
Yes. I have install a whole cat bathroom in my basement with an exhaust to outside. It is a game changer.
I lived in a van with two cats- had the cat box under the bed and had a little vent next to it (no fan unfortunately) but the key to cat van life is having that constant fresh air flow so I’d have the front windows cracked and set the installed maxx air fan to air in. (So air would come in through windows and out through the fan. Also- it’s more expensive than the cheapest litter- but that arm and hammer clump and seal (black box) is amazing and sold at Walmart!
I'm a woman and i painted a van and a car before and i used house paint and it turned out great you got this God bless you both
That sounds interesting, did You roll it on or use a Brush?
I can’t even imagine.
I painted the outside of my camper (Class C) with spray paint. It looks great and brighter.
Press play then press rewind… make sure it drys before you put your movie in
The oven and two burners is going to be a game changer! Can’t wait to see what you cook!
Number one: Insulation! Spray behind and above the interior panels ❤❤ and use foam board too wherever possible! Enjoy the project, no need to rush.
Dr. Good Vibes is back with another episode of positivity, good-will, and just plain fun. Look at all those toys!! Yeah!!
Might think about a sprayer instead of roller
..smoother and faster
Yeah I wouldn’t ruin the van with roll on paint. He’s just asking for rust. I’d pay to get it done.
My husband is a General Contractor/Handyman (has done a LOT of paining, houses & cars) & said the same thing!
I would recommend when you add the maxx air that you consider installing a door on it so you have the option to seal the van. Reasons could include: cold weather, ensuring no one can hear you as much if you are inside and someone is creeping the outside, ensuring safety when you leave the van (with a lock), and avoiding any smoke coming in if near a fire or forest fire.
💯
Not saying it hasn't happened but I've never heard of anyone breaking in via Maxx fan 🤷🏾♀️
My favorite part was watching you thinking about what you’re going to be doing, and seeing how excited you are. 😁
You and DualEx should get together and do a really cool video together on your build. Good luck buddy, hope all turns out the way you want it. Stay safe
That's a great suggestion!!! DualEX and Mateo would be an awesome collaboration! Plus, everything would be done right. No questions asked at all!
You must do the basics 1st. Insulation and soundproofing, then build or at least tape off your layout. With propane you will need a vent and safety alarm. Waterproofing as well. What will you use for heatwill you fo AC? All this needs to go in 1st. Your water tank then your electric/ battery system. Also use a monitoring system you can run on an app on your phone.
💯
I'm wondering if TH-cam nephew have a plan /layout for the build? He has the "stuff", but does he have the "where/how". 😊
I'm here to see it all. Good for him!❤❤
Hey Mateo, check out how BrookeandPippa just sanded and painted her van. Y'all are both moving into older vans, it's fun to follow along.
I was just going to recommend the same thing!
I saw that wow great job!👏🏼
You need a sink in the van 😂
It's so inspiring to see someone's wildest dreams come true. You deserve every ounce of comfort and luxury you need out there on the road Mateo!
If you go to Wal-Mart they'll restore your headlights for about $20 for the whole thing. I had to do that a few years ago because they were super cloudy. They did such an awesome job, they looked brand new. EDIT: When you get to the LED headlight stage in your build make sure you do more research. Some LED bulbs require additional components like ballasts or to regulate the electrical current and ensure proper function. They make conversion kits but I don't know much about those.
Great info on going to Walmart for Your headlights. Thanks for sharing.
Facts,it really works too.
Thanks for infor about going to Walmart to get headlights restored.
OMG my husband won't get rid of our VHS tapes because he knows some day he'll find a VHS tv. Y'all would get along perfectly. And our camp at burning man is a full solar camp and we give lectures on how to build your own. I'm learning SO much about solar now!
My vhs tv just broke : (
I am most excited about your paint job. I was born in 1960 so I was a teenager in the 70s. And I love that style of paint on vans. It is so cool and retro and it's coming back.
Hey Mateo, as a person born in 71, I am all for the 70s style vibe paint. Take a step further and put some shag carpet in there also. Lars would love it❤
Ooh ya , not even fully but like a big he can take out and clean easily
Awesome idea!!! I'm a 71 baby also😊 Maybe a throw rug would work
No, no shag!
Oh hell no on shag! I had a shag carpet and they are difficult to vacuum!
That would be too hard to keep clean but maybe a shag rug
Stay away from black and dark paint colors for the exterior. They draw more heat than light colors, and can make it miserably hot in the summer.
0:32 Mateo, I wanted to call you Winter. I'm an old hippie that truly enjoys your shows. Your huge heart, compassion and kindness to others is showing. You're cool Dude. Would love to party with you if we ever meet up. I'm on the East Coast but you never know! I live in Grassachisetts and have been smoking weed for 58 yrs.....yikes!!!?
I'm still voting Jethro to be the name of your new van! So excited for your year ahead!
Randomly stumbled upon your videos a few months ago. I gotta say I love the content. its very refreshing and genuine. Looking forward to more adventures!
Absolutely favorite part is the oven. Your meals are so unique and amazing. ❤❤
Definitely agree!!!
Doing the fan install is an easy process. Make sure you clean up the metal shards real good. Maybe put plastic down to catch most.
Important thing to remember: file the edges and prime paint the bare metal or it will rust. Then you use silicone to make sure screws and every where is sealed. I have a video on my channel of when I had somebody to do it for me because I am disabled.
You encourage me I am 53 years old and when I heard that u was going to stop doing van life I was sad then u came back with your new van I watch all your videos and u young man encourage me if u only knew how much I live in my jeep wrangler unlimited sport jl
My favorite thing is the paint. I love that 70's vibe too and can't wait to see how it turns out.
Hi Mateo!! i love that you have a home base in-between your trips....
*Mateo* once a VHS _tape_ starts to degrade, no amount of liquid cleaner
can restore them. Liquid cleaner are good at cleaning the *heads* of the VHS player itself. Years ago I transferred all my Grandpa's VHS tapes to DVDs. Best to invest a transfer tape to DVD and get a DVD player. 👍🏽
I love you and I'm not a hater..but you're gonna regret painting the van yourself. I tried to warn you! It's gonna look cheap and pathetic. Prove me wrong. The 1 to 4 grand paint job by an experienced painter with the right painting guns would've been worth it after all..right?
Great advice!!
On the VHS tape, you may not know this, but most vcrs have a tracking knob you can adjust the picture to make it clear as well, it may not be the tape or heads.
Your Maxx Air fan is a standard opening of 14"x14". Don't cut the size of the bottom flange or it won't fit! Looking forward to the build!
And on your paint job, the purpose of the sanding is not to remove the existing paint, just the clear coat. If you should accidentally go down to bare metal just make sure to put a rust preventive primer on those spots. Good luck!
Good morning Mateo & Lars blessings to you 🤟🏾❤️🌞💪🏾🙌🏾
Same to you!
@@winterisblu Thank you I love your channel ❤️🤟🏾
Great reference to Ryan...he's quickly become a GOAT in the van life space.
I enjoy both of your channels equally. Keep going King
I'm trying to figure out why I'm so excited about "our" van build! Lol Seeing you pop in that VHS tape made me so happy! I hope you're able to fix it. That stove! 😍 I'm looking forward to seeing the decktop!! And 24k views in 7 hours--you're so loved Mateo!
Add kitchen cupboards a sink and outdoor shower from your sink 👊🏾
Looking amazing!! To add to the van maybe security cameras and a tiny bathroom?
MATEO: "I'm not that big of a TV watcher but this will come in handy when I'm bored"
ME: "WHOO HOO. . . a Roku TV! The most important part of the install!" (Clearly, I'm bored a lot 🤣)
I love it. "Yeah, im going to do this myself and learn". I respect that. The "do this" and "dont do that" crowd can warn you of this or that, but they had to learn too. Again, this is your van, your journey, your channel. Just keep being true to you is the only critic that matters, whether it be 1k subs or 1M. After all, Winterisblu.
Thank you for saying that!
@@winterisblu It's the passion that makes you king, Mateo. No one has the drive to bring people the best of not just van life but life as general than you. It's easy, relaxing, uplifting, kinda spiritual. It's good food, and Lars and those funky tracks of yours. I call you "Dr. Good Vibes" and that's what makes this special for everyone.
@@ToddSt What a great Nic-name for Mateo! I always enjoy his positive attitude.
@@Kammy44 oh yeah, it fits. You know I stumbled on this page when going through a rough, nervous Wyoming winter, and Mateo just gave me these good vibes about life. He's the Elvis of van-lifers and has that rare gift of personality. And that's his success. That's what makes this channel tick. It's kinda funny because I know how stressed he is over this conversion, but whether he nails it or goofs it doesn't matter: It's the road show that makes him king. Hopefully, that will be soon.
VanlifePlus is a mechanic and van lifer. He knows a lot about electrical as well. He’s located in Canada. He also insulated his van with spray foam. Very smart and room efficient.
Yay!!! New video!!!😊 The stove I'm most excited about Mateo!!!
Hope you enjoyed it!
‘Kitchen’ and ‘bathroom’ -the stand so you can have a tiny sink with storage underneath and a toilet either with a bags or something like that
70's paint job....can I say it - Groovy!! lol you'll be stylin grooving down the hwy, I'm so very happy for you
New Beginning for Mateo & Lars🫶🏽🪬
You are really doing it Mateo! I can't wait to see you learn how to do so many exciting things. I know you realize you can never fail unless you quit and I don't see a quitter in you. Adventures in van creations await you!
I loved everything. Can't wait until you start building it.🚙🚙🚙
OOOO THE 70s PAINT JOB IS A GREAT IDEA & I FEEL LIKE IT FITS YOUR VIBE. I LOVE THAT. IM SO excited to see this build & am so thankful we’re on the journey w you ☺️
This is awesome!
Can't wait to see what you make this Van into!
I love the Deck idea.
My suggestion:
Maybe Make a foldable bed that can double as a mini couch.
Also, much love for Pokemon VHS!!! ❤️
I screamed YAAASSS when he showed the new van inspired colors...that's so him..omg.. can't wait for the final reveal.
Love everything but really like the oven. I used to follow a girl that had one and she loved it.
When you do the deck on top, maybe put just a little of the fake green grass for Lars. That way he wouldn't just have wood to walk on.
This is going to be fun watching all the changes.
🙏🌹
Good video! Recommend u start building soon otherwise that summer heat will destroy you!
WOW Mateo, you took me way back with the VHS 😅😅. The fan and oven are my favorite things. Can't wait to see the van build.
God has really blessed you. Keep being the wonderful, loving and kind person that you are and your blessings will continue. Love you and Lars 🥰.
Place the ladder in back, a lot safer!
Those are cool colors!! Midnight blue would be nice as well ❤
I been waiting DAYS for this. 😂😂😂 heyyy mateo i love that smile. ❤ Notification gang 💪🏽🥳
Ayeeee Whatsup!!!
I know, right?? I was so worried when he said he was selling the Astro. But I'm not now! He's Baaack!
The stove is my favorite thing. That would be a must have for me I love to cook & bake. You got some nice things 👍
My one suggestion is when it's time for you to upgrade your solar, don't just keep trying to add more 100 W panels it'll be wiser to simply up the wattage of the panels by double or triple without losing any of that valuable rooftop real estate. When you get around to your build and build your kitchen just leave space to build in your camp stove. Great videos all the way around!!!
For me personally to do van life I want a lot of power minimum 500+ watt solar, at least 1000 KWh LiPo batteries and min 3000 W inverter, indoor fresh water (hot & cold) would be a must, some type of toilet and must have an indoor shower. No indoor propane use only outdoor. 3 in 1 microwave, air fryer, convection oven combo a dual burner induction cooktop, a good sized dual zone fridge/freezer.
Heated floors would be nice but not a deal breaker. However reliable "house" AC and heat are a must.
Good luck with your build! I'll be watching!!!
Hey !So nice hearing from you. You got this friend❤
Thank you so much 🤗
My favorite things are the stove of course and I love that you are painting it funky and doing it yourself. Can't wait to see the progress and the adventures ahead! This video made my day, so happy for you. ♥
If you can pull off that van color with the 1970 look that's gonna be bomb.
For safety and not having a recognizable van for stealth van life, I would not paint van with any color other 25:19 than white or silver or grey to blend in with other vans so that ill-intended folks don’t know it’s your van to harm or steal from you.
Congratulations on everything Mateo. ❤. I’ve been a silent watcher for some time. I hope I run into someday. I’ll be a full time Van lifer by this summer.😊❤
Been waiting for an upload... It's a good day 😃💕💕
Hope you enjoyed it!
Great video buddy!!!!😃👍
I love everything You have, this rebuild is gonna be outta sight!
I love the latter (which I think looks better on the back) The Deck Is Gonna Be Out Of This World Kool,
The Oven/Stove Is Kool And The Gang, Ya Gonna Need A Chef Hat, Cause You Gonna Be Happily Inspired, Maybe So Much SoThat You Will Write A Cookbook/Van life Adventure Book Including Lars Would Be A Great Read.
Anywho, I can go on and on, I'm So Happy And Excited For You!
APTTMH
🤎💪🏿✊🏿🤎
Van upgrades are so exciting, even the little upgrades. Especially the changes that make the stay more comfy or space efficient.
I just love your enthusiasm for your van build! I am looking forward to seeing you cooking on that stove!
I can't wait for the van build and to see you cook with the oven! These are definitely some amazing additions to the van! ❤ Stay safe and have fun Lars and Mateo!
Soft mount that oven. One of the best features of your new heat is that it isn't a built in. Use it inside, sure, but the option to work outdoors will make that the perfect range on hot days. That piece is the keystone for Foresty's built-in crossed with a full function pull out kitchen.
Don't be afraid of the propane. It really is the same as what you have been using. You can install a built in system with an out side tank. I stuck with 1 pounders, refillable Flame King. The extras ride in a tube tied onto a shelf on the left frame rail. Anybody who has a POL tank and can do math will let you refill off their tank for $2 per can. Cheapest way is your own POL tank, with an adapter hose... but then you have to carry it.
If that headlight restoration kit doesn’t work, I used to detail cars and this is what we did.
Wet sand it (by hand) with a really high grit sandpaper then buff it out with a buffing compound. Usually works best if you have a hand held buffer but don’t necessarily need it.
Love the channel and excited for this year.
I am super happy for your purchase of the fan and oven. Because circulation on hot days and cooking days is super important! I am happy about all of your purchases. You had a whole year to imagine this new build! 😊
I just watched Brooke and Pippa paint their van the same way. It turned out pretty good. It was the last video she uploaded.
I'm sure you'll do great on this build brother, if you don't know something just youtube it lil saved me a hand full off times lol can't wait to see it all starting to come together and yall hitting the road.....stay safe and blessed up brother
I'm so happy for you Matteo! The VHS player may just need a more thorough cleaning. You can do this by running the video cleaner several times, or better yet by taking a cotton swab and dipping it in rubbing alcohol to clean the heads manually, and letting them dry before you try playing a tape. Also, I can't wait to see the meals you cook with that stove, you're obviously a very talented chef!
So happy to see you went for solar. I've been an advocate for years and it's saved me a lot of money.
It may be handy to get a twin induction cooking plate as it will run off solar in case you are low on propane..you can just switch. It's faster to cook and keep your safety in mind with no flames.
Can't wait to see what you surprise us with next lovey.
❤ Lori
The Max Air fan will be so nice for you two...plus can't wait to see that paint job!
I know this build is going to be awesome. Thanks for bringing us on the journey Mateo!
Add a small A/C in the back window, kinda like Dave's RV Life in his van...then you might see if you can buy a fabricated rack for your van to add a bicycle and maybe even weld in a 2000watt generator so it can be used to charge up your stuff on rainy/cloudy days. I think the colors for the van you picked is awesome! You might consider a very small wood stove, check out Foresty Forest build on his van! Anywho, that is great having people out there donate stuff they are not using for a great cause!
the 70s vibe print on your van is totally you! WIcked, nice!
I’m so excited for you! Thanks for taking us along for the build this is awesome!!
Can’t wait to watch you paint ur van!!! 😍😍
Oh my my favorite thing is the solar. We have off grid solar it is so cool and helpful with the electricity bill. Get a composting toilet. It has to be awful when you have to go and you are not near a city or camping site facility. You have to decide Mateo. This is your van, your build and your home when it is all done. Take us along. You have such a positive attitude. Ok I said a lot😂
With all the talk of retro paint jobs on the van and the joys of VHS(I remember when it was a new thing!), I now have the A-Team theme song stuck in my head! Showing MY age now Mateo! 🤣
Can’t wait to see how this build progresses.👍
Currently watching! I was early today 🌞 Excited to see your journey with the new van
Hope you enjoy it!
Stove and fan. You will do great. Looking forward to seeing your progress.
If you are going to use propane you need to install a carbon monoxide detector. Please mount it near the floor. Carbon monoxide is heavier than air and if you mount it too high you would be dead before it actually went off. Many van lifers make that mistake. Happy for you ❤
I'm not sure if you already have this - but you should set up an wishlist & people can buy you things for the van, I'm sure people would love that. Really loved the oven, can't wait to see the set up for that
Dude , you honestly should do some research and hunt for an Auto Custom Paint Shop, the paints you got, made me worry!
Yes I agree and my husband and I have a painting business. Not for cars but I do know he needs to get a sprayer, not spray paint or a paint can
@@xposingthespiritualRealm YES! 🙌! Thank you for agreeing! ❤️
👋 Hello Winterisblu I am so happy for you things are coming together my favorite part is the solar panels, Air Max fan and also the 70's look paint job that your thinking about doing is Great👍May GOD Keep Blessing You Always😘💕.
How about a cat tree/hammock for Lars? Have you watched Dean on 1bike1world? He built a cool two-tier bed/traveling nest for his cat, Nala, in his VW camper van. I think Lars deserves his own little nest somewhere in the new space.
Mateo I hope to meet u one day! I watch all your videos!
Me too!!!
Thanks zeze!!
Like 100. I'm at work. Will watch on my lunch break. 😃
Hope you Enjoy!
@@winterisblu Loved it and am looking forward to the build and its outcome. Especially the 70s theme paint design. My only suggestion if you don't have one already is to invest in a carbon monoxide detector being that you now have a propane stove. 😃
go to some scrap yards and find some extra headlights and taillights and whatever elese you might need for the van, Save a lo of money
My favorite thing is probably the oven. Building a counter to insert your oven/stove with counter space to prep and wash dishes.
Can't wait for the big reveal.
Scotch Brite pads work excellent for taking off the clear coat and scuffing up the paint so that new paint can adhere to the body. And rustoleum works excellent for rolling on, however you will have a very bumpy orange peel like finish if you use a regular roller. But.. if you use a high density foam roller for painting cabinets. That paint will look nice and smooth with less orange peel. Oh also my favorite thing was the stove and if it were mine I would get rid of the old tiny vhs tv and mount the new TV up there. Maybe make it so it flips down so that when not in use it is not bumping you in the head lol. It's gonna be cool! Can't wait to see how you build it out and how you do the kitchen sink or counter for the stove. Oh and also excited to see the deck and solar build too.
The little oven is so cute, kinda reminds me of my old easy bake oven lol
Thank you for sharing your videos, I enjoy watching them and learning about van life 🥰
I can't wait to see The Completed Build, Wonderful 👍
🎉 exciting. Invest in a electric sander for sanding the van. Your arms will thank you. I love the 70's vibe color. Lars needs a cat walk made for him in the van. Maybe a long shelf that goes around. Love the max fan. 🎉🎉🎉
