@@mikem9892 it still would have needed sanding even sticking with the white color. The top layer needs removing. Now I personally would have used the rubber sander to take the decals off leaving no scarring to the paint until I really knew what color, and then just buffed the white. Fortunately everyone has their own idea of how or what... it's what makes the world go around 😊.

You need to build yourself an enclosed tent area when your ready to paint. You need a dust free area, otherwise your going to have dust, dirt, bugs and god knows what else sticking to your paint. Then you also need to worry about if it's going to rain or not. I would hate for you to do all that work for it to get ruined. Best of luck on your project, can't wait to see the end result ! I personally think it's a great idea to travel during the build out. Figuring out where you want to install everything, before it's permanent is smart. Safe travels to you and Lars🤗🥰
You should watch other videos of people painting their cars because you need to sand your whole van in order to get a better paint job and to make sure the paint doesn’t peel off.

The van already looks 100% better with the decals off! What a productive day! I also think it's a great idea to do short overnight or weekend trips while you're doing the install and finishing. I just wanted to say thank you for using real ceramic dishes and mugs! So many people are afraid to have real ceramic dishes in a van, but you totally can and it makes a much nicer presentation and dining experience. I am a ceramics maker and artist and while I don’t travel full time or live in a van, I do travel cross-country several times a year and I take a lot of ceramics with me and use them on the way. Also, I just adore Lars! He’s so cute! I have two black cats and I call them the Trouble Twins because they’re both a little bit naughty, but their real names are Jellybean (5 year old male) and Nori (4year old female). I love that you have your little van kitty. He seems to really like it and he seems to love the new van, especially the bulkhead shelf! I hope you can keep that open for him to enjoy.
I wouldn't say so much that people are afraid, but since they are traveling it's a mini earthquake going on behind that drivers seat. Yes one can take precaution and put something around dishes for protection, but all it would take is one forgetful drive away.

In fact, I have traveled cross country with fine art pottery at least a couple dozen times and never broken anything. It’s my business , so of course I know how to pack things, but I don’t always do anything special other than typically I will put a piece of paper or a towel between them but that’s mostly because I don’t want to hear the clinking noise that they make. But I stand by my point that it’s really not as fragile as people think. Other than literally not dropping it on a hard surface, it’s really just a matter of putting it somewhere that it’s not going to move around.

I work primarily in porcelain (no bones). It’s very strong. I am a jewelry maker and getting hardware onto earrings is not easy, so I drop them quite often and they very rarely break. Only if it hits just right and to be fair, they are basically the same as glass at that point, so it’s expected that they will shatter being dropped on the hard floor. And cheap depends on what and where you are getting it. One of a kind handmade are certainly not cheap.

that is a very high cholesterol, carb, saturated fat meal but healthy. i would suggest you try spicing with rosemary and thyme which are both cholesterol fighters and make everything taste like stuffing (which I like anyway). so they are arterial cleaners in the holiday meals, hah!

Suggestion: Get a couple of painting quotes, before you try doing it yourself. It might be cheaper than you think, especially if you stick with white. Good luck.
I know nothing about hand painting. But look for small independent auto painters. Quite often they have a lot of left-over White paint from other jobs. I recently had my front hood repainted because of damage. Cost less than 200 and did a great job of prepping and painting.
It's so exciting getting to see the new build right from the beginning. It seems like Lars is going to be just fine making that his new home with the cool kitty cat hideout. Lol. That's exactly how I do/did...I need to be in the van with my pup to see and feel what's needed and what needs to go where...I'm currently on my 3rd arrangement in my van. Went for the mood I want, the activities I want to do the most and driving/camping helps me see what needs securing, what is not set for mobile dwelling et all. So happy you have a Ford now, I do too and 1999 e150, Osage Edition which came with a automated sofabed/two way sofa, that I was determined to keep. So I've been building around...interested in what you come up with as far as layout and design. Keep going, Bro!!

I would just remove the decals and leave it white. Less work and white will keep the van cooler in the summer sun. A darker color will absorb heat.
Or with the design he invisions, leave it primarily white & add medium to lighter pastel colors

Hi Mateo you should wear a dust mask when sanding paint, and a paint respirator when painting your car. You can get sick from breathing that in.

Suggestion: Get a couple of painting quotes, before you try doing it yourself. It might be cheaper than you think, especially if you stick with white. Good luck.

I know nothing about hand painting. But look for small independent auto painters. Quite often they have a lot of left-over White paint from other jobs. I recently had my front hood repainted because of damage. Cost less than 200 and did a great job of prepping and painting.

It's so exciting getting to see the new build right from the beginning. It seems like Lars is going to be just fine making that his new home with the cool kitty cat hideout. Lol. Wow, that's such a work-intensive project, but you just stuck with it until you knocked it out! 👏🏾👏🏾 I think it's a very smart idea to experience living in the van as you do your build out, so you get a true feel for little adjustments you might want to make 🤔 Love to see you doing and learning as you go. It feels a bit overwhelming to read all the people telling you to wear a mask. It may be a good idea, but rather than so many separate, repetitive posts, maybe a simple "like" on the original comment would be enough? Anyway, I hope it doesn't affect you negatively to read so many such comments. That's exactly how I do/did...I need to be in the van with my pup to see and feel what's needed and what needs to go where...I'm currently on my 3rd arrangement in my van. Went for the mood I want, the activities I want to do the most and driving/camping helps me see what needs securing, what is not set for mobile dwelling et all.
So happy you have a Ford now, I do too and 1999 e150, Osage Edition which came with a automated sofabed/two way sofa, that I was determined to keep. So I've been building around...interested in what you come up with as far as layout and design.
