Balls to the wall has to be one of the most iconic 80's songs out there. I was fortunate enough to see them play in Toronto last year, and when this track came on, you couldn't help but bang your head.

@@MartinBellamyMBDrums Not at all! Actually on floor toms they work wonders! I used a pair of kick mics (very similar to Shure Beta 52) on floor toms for the longest time, and they sound amazing - tons of low-end information, very great if you'd like to preserve the natural ring of the drum, enough mid-range and clicky top end for the attack. You can very easily EQ and compress hard without loosing that low-impact! Now I switched back to regular tom mics for my kit, but I'll go back asap to Kick drum mics. Same goes for low-tuned snares!

How long does it take to learn one you've never done before til the finished product we see? Plus what was your hardest to learn so far? Like it made you so mad you about threw the whole drum kit out? Just askin!😁👍

Also great question, usually a few days of listening, then a couple hours behind the kit to learn a song in full for a single take.
After that its just a matter of mixing which can take a couple hours to get things sounding right (EQ, Compression, Reverb, etc.)
Then its the video editing, and cutting clips for all the socials which is the better part of 3 evenings of the week.
ALSO! Hardest song? By far are part of my DNDB Series where I try to push myself in terms of style and dynamics without wrecking the songs Im adding drums to. These are all written ahead of time, but mainly improvised.

@@MartinBellamyMBDrums Thank you for answering. Ive always wanted to take up drumming. Both of my younger brothers both can play guitars, bass ,and some keyboard. My dad was in a local country/boogie type band back in the late 60s i still have his Gibson GSS-100 amp from back then and his England made Baldwin Sunburst Jazz Bass with a "Wild Dog/Treble/Bass/ContraBass switch on it.
Well, i had another couple of songs to see uf ya might want to try them :
