They say that they don't want to answer to shareholders and all this nonsense. But when you get a TV network involved, they have to put there ratings and revenue above what you want.

I have seen a report in the last week that actor and former WWE writer/flunky Freddie Prinze Jr. is floating a "SGA" affiliated promotion where all wrestlers are members of the Screen Actor's Guild which would provide insurance and retirement. Listening to Jesse Ventura, getting his SGA card while making Predator was one of the smartest things he did.

I agree with Jim about Matt Taven. I just saw him wrestle at an indy show about a month ago, not the first show I've seen him at, but he still is a really great worker and deserves a big break

Mid is a fair assessment because he is probably is going to be better than the lower half of just about any promotion but not draw what the guys on top do. I appreciate guys that can be a good natural heel and make it feel authentic like him though
I always thought of CYN as the wrestling promotion that was targeting the MAGA fans and the guys who have Punisher logos on everything.
People are running their own promotions now to make some money on their own terms and probably to a lesser degree as proof of concept, hoping for another Tony Khan to appear and give them money. I wish these guys luck, but right now, it just sounds like another indie company hoping to make waves. Lucha Underground was actually on a cable outlet and Netflix and still folded, and MLW said they had a television deal with Vice, and it was just a one-shot, and they already have a product to show.
It would be funny if EC3 and The Titan can get a TV deal in a couple of months when Jeff Jarrett failed for years trying to do the same for GFW.

We are quickly finding out that while Vince's idea for a lot of these guys may have been not good at all, their own ideas are sometimes way worse. The dude runs a business.

Control Your Narrative might have a deal with ViacomCBS or Paramount as they just rebranded themselves. Paramount (ViacomCBS) seems to be getting into wrestling now. They're bringing back WOW (Women Of Wrestling) this year and it's gonna air on the CBS channels on Saturday nights this fall. WOW is only an hour show so if Paramount (ViacomCBS) was looking to get into the televised wrestling game, maybe they want to air wrestling for 2 hours on Saturday nights so they needed another show to fill up that 2nd hour?

Yeah, EC3 has a show on the Russo brand and they talk about it weekly. Very insightful stuff on what he's trying to create. He mentioned they had a TV deal with Russo recently. I can only imagine Cornette may have an issue with the fact that EC3 is a fan of Russo and asks for some advice. He also mentioned that they'll have access to 100 million homes, so there's that🤷🏾♂️
"Access to 100 Million Homes"... could mean a lot of things but it sounds like Old School Syndication Deal (home of Xena, Baywatch, Renegade, Highlander, etc before USA picked them up)

Personally I don't see why he would return to WWE unless it had something to do with the rights to anything involving Dusty. However I could see this CYN promotion being his next step because he hyped that he was going to do something that's never been done before. That was prior to leaving AEW. It could be a throwaway line, but who knows? Only time will tell, so we're just gonna have to wait and see.

Just about everyone that works for the NWA both backstage management and talent are right wing. Same with MLW and some of AEW , WWE and Impact. I would say Ring of Honor but nobody really knows what's going on with them right now. Just because you have a right-wing mindset when it comes to professional wrestling doesn't mean you can't have left wing beliefs outside of that.

In wrestling, you have a set of physical demands that you need to meet, over and over and over again, or your co-worker might never walk again. You often need to compromise on other talents, because of that barrier. It's why so many wrestlers can't act, and why we celebrate those who do.
In wrestling, the worst consequences the audience faces for other people's bad decision making are boredom and confusion.
In the real world, there's a body count.
Wrestling is right wing, because it offers, in kayfabe, a right wing fantasy world, where the powerful destroy the weak without concerns for conscience or long term consequences. And because, backstage, you don't need to worry much about employee rights or the optics of constantly squashing your top black faces, to end their world title run.

In the wrestling world, lines are often clear at least in the story, and there is little potential for the radical left to even exist outside of idiot fans who chant "aew" during wwe ppvs. There are also like you say, real and direct consequences for mistreating others in the ring. It's a very right wing get out what's put in business, and since the wwe has such a hold on the industry, there isn't much variation as far as how it's handled.
I also feel that it's much easier to hold traditional down to earth values in wrestling than in the real world because the viral left media is much stronger with the latter, so being deplatformed because you hate dumb flippy shit is less likely than in the real world for example, if you hate whatever dumb shit political agendas are pushing for.

Jim is right, SMW came at a time when wrasslin was being lost on the generatuon that was fed sports entertainment and lost all believability and will never be regained again.
