    I take mine offroad like this pretty regularly, no issues with my cvt. I have NCY and Doppler. It's just fun. I'm actually taking on a 171mi overland route in May.

    dude maybe a voice over next time. M.J.Fox vibes hard. I could not finish this video because of it. My biggest pet peeve watching motorcycle youtubers.

      Your right. It was horrible. It probably wouldn't have been as bad if I had had a newer gopro. I was shooting on a hero 3 when like the hero 8 was out lol. Thanks for the view and feedback though!

    I wish they had dual shocks in the back....that would be the best improvement....and a high/low transmission...for off-road.

    Not that bad offroad plus its very light so at some place just need a little push 👍

    It's just a matter of perspective. Yes, the Ruckus may not be the best 'trail bike' on earth compared to others, but there would be no way I'd attempt that trail on a full-size adventure bike.

      Well no. It's not even really a trail. It's really a walking path behind an elementary school near my house. It's perfectly sized for something like the ruckus but a grom or similar would do be a way better pick for a toy trail rider.

    A foot path rather than a ruckus path.

    What mirrors do you have and how do you install them on the throttle

    • @BigDiscEnergyLLC
      @BigDiscEnergyLLC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are cheap amazon mirrors www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MYZ8GPF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. To install on the throttle side I used a dremel to cut off the throttle tube end and maybe a 3-4mm past the bars end. This prevents the mirror from hitting and stopping the throttle tube from turning.
      I wouldnt recommend buying them though. It only comes with the correct sleeve for one side of the handlebars. The throttle side portion that slides into the bars was too small so i had to wrap electrical tape around it so it would hold in place. It still will come loose occasionally but its fine for now until I buy a better set.

    The answer is No, not really.
    Only on the mildest of trails.
    Due to poor suspension and bad seating position for off-road riding.

      I always thought this, the ruckus groups will try to say they have offroad ruckuses. And like maybe they weigh 120 pounds and dont mind being just slammed around the whole time. Its totally unenjoyable though.

      @@BigDiscEnergyLLC Agreed. Some people have misplaced enthusiasm for the Ruckus, when it comes to off-road riding.
      MAYBE the fan-boys can upgrade the Ruckus so that it works ok on trails. But, by the time they buy all those parts, they could have bought a PROPER road legal trail bike ;-)
      However, the Ruckus is a perfectly good and reliable scooter for around town. And since it is 49cc, you don't need registration or insurance in many states. Just a regular driver's license. It has electric start which is cool. And it may be able to handle a patch of mud or a dirt road better than most scooters.
      But even then, nothing gives a feeling of confidence, when you hit a rough spot, than gripping that gas tank between your knees. :-)

    The ruckus was not made for off road.....its urban transportation.

    Why is the VVT bad for off roading?

    • @BigDiscEnergyLLC
      @BigDiscEnergyLLC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Basically what was happening was the clutch was overheating it needs to be over like 4k rpm to be fully locked up. So basically any low speed uphill is just your clutch sliding and killing itself. The belt also got hit and wasn't too happy about it. I changed out the belt after this video as it had gotten decently thin from my early off-road attempts.
      A grom or kymco spade would be 1000x better.

      @@BigDiscEnergyLLC interesting.. as I'm thinking of taking a Ruckus from Alaska to Argentina. I'll have to look more into the VVT

      @@TC-yx1qt cvt but yea. It's fine for dirt roads so long as you can go 4-5 mph. You'd be fine doing that trip. Just don't expect to make it down dirt bike style trails.

      @@BigDiscEnergyLLC thanks I bought one actually a 07 for 1000 bux , it was garage kept , it ran good for about a week before the fuel pump started clicking, replaced it today and it.runs but now its runs a bit slower , I was topping out at least at 40mph now it tops out at 35 and it feels like a limiter or something, even down hill I'll hit 35 and it will slow down , all I did was change the fuel pump
