    How is this not a recall? Or even a TSB? People shouldn’t have to be paying for this out of their oem pocket, since it’s such a large scale problem.

    My mk5 had the same the same issue with a faulty solenoid, no one believed me but when we replaced it ice cold ac came out. The main issue was that the AC would take upwards of 7 minutes to kick in which in summer is definitely not acceptable!

    I saw a video that expressed that Volkswagen would not just change the rcv but push to change the entire compressor. That sucks. I'm having the same problem with my daughter's car. That's a very common problem, it seems, and should be recalled or, at the minimum, just change the rcv. But I guess I'll get my AC guy to evacuate and charge the system after I change the rcv myself.

    I just did this to my 2016 Tiguan. New compressor, expansion valve, condensor, everything! I still have same problem. A.C. doesn't ever get cold, cool maybe but not cold and blows warm air whenever i stop at red lights or stuck in traffic. so i am wondering if it is an electrical issue? also my cooling fan runs pretty much constantly. I am at my wits end with this car if i don't get it figured out im going to light a match to it and roast marshmallows.

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Double check your ac pressure. A couple possibilities are that the new valve didn't seal right and you leaked out your refrigerant. Or the new valve is faulty (rare but just because something is new doesn't mean it's good). Or the original issue wasn't the valve and something else is causing the problem. Run through the diagnostic procedure from the start again and see what you come up with.

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. The TSB I am using for this diag says VW Jetta and Passat through 17' may have this problem. It's possible the 17' model uses a different part number but I'm not sure. When I look up the part number I have in the description it says it fits 2006-2016. Even though the older VWs aren't mentioned in the TSB they seem to use the same pressure control valve. So I'm really not sure. I would recommend calling the parts department at the dealer and get the part number you can cross reference.

    About a month before this video I totaled my 2012 Jetta S. Same problems. One year A/C stopped working so replaced compressor control valve with cheap Chinese eBay one that cost about $19. It fixed the problem all summer then stopped working. Replaced valve with $80 AutoZone one and didn’t do anything initially then started cooling like a champ only to stop working three days later. Would intermittently work. Some days yes, others not. Eventually not at all.
    Tried the TVX valve and didn’t help. Changed temperature sensor and nothing. Next I was going to try the orifice tube aka accumulator aka receiver/drier (decadent) but had the crash.
    On a VW forum a guy replaced the compressor 3 times with two being OEM units and problem would return eventually. I may be remembering the details of the forum post wrong but I replied there with my story. I never had a leak and my refrigerant was always at correct level when I had a shop evacuate it. Don’t know if accumulator replacement would have fixed it but I doubt it.
    A big problem is every time I tried a new part it required paying a shop to evacuate the refrigerant. No one near me would do it free. Well, one guy did it free then I had to pay him to refill. I have done that myself but wanted ac system to be full vacuumed to avoid future problems. Yes, I have a crappy home vacuum sucker. I’ll pass.

    • @yactabay
      @yactabay ปีที่แล้ว

      @@waynegodwin6860 After changing the TVX valve from seeing videos showing my issue could be that, it didn’t work either. The final thing to try was the condenser on the side edge of the radiator. It must be done really fast so as to not introduce moisture into the new one. However, I totaled the car in a crash a year and a half ago. Broken collar bone, five broken ribs and almost broke knee that filled up with fluid. Terrible couple of months for bones to heal. The ribs would start to heal and would break again as I tried to get up to use the bathroom until they finally held. I hope I die if I have another serious accident. The positive part is no more need to try and fix it. I bought a used 7 year old Toyota.

    • @yactabay
      @yactabay ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@waynegodwin6860 I actually liked the car and it never left me stranded but just before the accident the transmissions was starting to go at about 180k miles. If you only have that few miles on the car I recommend a transmission fluid change. Ignore the manual and mechanics who say the manufacturer says you don’t need it now or ever. The transmission will last longer. Don’t wait ANY longer. Preferably do it yourself. Changing the fluid can actually do more damage but ONLY if the car is high mileage. I did not have the Jetta since new.

      Turns out when I replaced my compressor I added new oil to a new compressor, didn't think about the oil already in the system and then I didn't read the refrigerant can... It also had oil in it. So TLDR: I had 3 times the amount of oil in my system and my charge was too low

    How exactly do you know if it's the valve having a mechanical issue/clogged or just a bad compressor? I'm facing the same issue. 08 VW Eos with 68K miles. Air is mediocre, only 60-65f at the vents on 90f + day.

    • @ValleyMobileAutomotive
      @ValleyMobileAutomotive  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      99% of the time it's going to be the pressure regulating valve. Going through the diagnostic steps will help you pinpoint it. Is your issue all the time or intermittent?

    • @Bizija123
      @Bizija123 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ValleyMobileAutomotive All the time. I'm certain that my refrigerant levels are good because I already evacuated, vacuumed, refilled system. Pressures are 45-50 low and 225 high. I feel like the low pressure is a bit high. I have the same low compressor load values on the scantool. 4 or 5 lb-ft. Never goes more. No codes in system. Requested to valve is 0.82a. Good question. The part that was bad was the pressure regulator. So the rest of the system was still operational. The amount of time the system was open to the atmosphere was minimal so the decadent should still be good. If this was exposed to the air for a long period of time then the decadent should be replaced. By design the decadent absorbs moisture out of the air. That's also why pulling a good vacuum before refill is important. In a strong vacuum moisture will boil/evaporate.
