There is no "British" sound really. Britain is made up of 4 countries which all have completely different accents. Steve is supposed to sound English, more specifically working class Londoner. But yes it's awful. It's like a terrible impersonation of Phil Collins

Tekken 7's popularity was a true phenomenon and was somewhat of a plateau for now. I think alot of people who hadn't touched the series in a while got their fix with that game, while many new fans hoped on through the rise of the esports scene, streamers, and guest characters. TK8 will probably keep a steady playerbase, but I can see it dwindling down after a while if they don't update it frequently.

Right now, Tekken 8 still has the biggest by a large margin, and even the drop off was smaller than SF6’s, and obviously MK1’s because that game is just garbage from top to bottom. It is what it is. Fighting games are a niche genre, its a miracle that so many people were interested in trying out SF and Tekken in the first place. It will still have a healthy playerbase until the next game releases. It’s not a bad game even with its flaws, and there is just no other options for people if they want a proper 3d fighting game.

yea about the VA of steve as you pointed out hes actually very good for example in final fantasy 12 he voiced who many considered to be the best character of the game Balthier partially BECAUSE of the smug voice because it fits the character so well. unfortunately the voice performance in tekken 8 does not fit at all but as you pointed out that mightve been because he was instructed to sound a certain way
Steve's VA has done a LOT of work. Right off the top of my head, I recognize him as Balthier from FF12, Lor'themar Theron from Warcraft, and most recently Biggs from FF7 Remake and Rebirth.
See they need to bring back infinite rematches because I could see this being a good way to learn matchups. Nobody is gaining much or losing much. Less chance of plugging, no rematch ect.

I highly disagree with Mainman on customization, it's laughably bad and easily the worst in the series. They limited custom presets for each character from 8 to 4. Upper clothes is just 3 same shirts, 4 same jackets, 3 same shitty suits and 3 same sweatshirts. It's like i'm not customizing a fighting character, but walked into cheap ZARA store in the mall. As a Kazuya main i wonder how he doesn't feel disrespected that the additional full body preset for Kazuya, that you unlock in a Super Ghost Battle is just shitty grey pants.
ye honestly i tryed to make raven look cool but the only cool stuff that fits him are his full body costumes or the scorpion cosplay from mortal kombat, i tryed to turn him into bryan fury (marvel) and came out pretty well but other than this...there's nothing that looks ninja-like, only some shirts and jackets

Yeah, the customization is far from what I was hoping it'd be. Some people are content with the "drippy" fashion designer clothes that everyone shares but I was expecting more innovation, and they managed to remove certain things that barely kept TK7 on its feet.
I don't see anything wrong with Steve's voice, _considering his background and his past,_ I'd say his voice makes him even better. Since he was a lab experiment that didn't receive any human affection beyond Emma Kliesen, the only person who treated him with care, like an actual human being. The fact that he grew up and STILL was able to retain a boyish innocence and an enthusiastic gung ho personality is *all the more reason to like him as he is.* He could have been empty inside. He could have been malicious. He could have been vindictive. With Steve i get the feeling that his voice is once again an issue with voice directing. Same thing happened with the announcer who was told to sound boring in Tekken 7 story mode. That's what happened when a japanese team tries to direct voice acting of other languages. Shaheen also sound very weird.
I wish people wouldnt defend customization. It's underwhelming in every way. If this was an indie game then i would be ok but not a game like this. And the fight money is usless no matter whi you are. Tekken needs way better unlockable in general
People always forget that tekken 6 didn't even have a color wheel. I'd still say that tekken 6 has the best customization overall but it wasn't perfect. Customization seems to always take as many steps backwards as it takes forward with each new game.
It's a wild guess but I will say this: If they won't give us free wins vs pluggers, 50% if not more players will drop this game and never comeback. The higher u climb the ranks the more pluggers u meet. Like, I think I dont want to rank up anymore and I'm just Mighty Ruler

Also don't forget laggy players which are fairly common. Most people have their PC indicator turning red. Other stuff being alt players, smurfs,lag switchers etc. Plugging is rare where I play though usually it is just their game crashing.
steve’s voice actor was directed poorly. he is also balthier in final fantasy 12 and to this day balthier is one of the best acted characters ever. plus he’s steve in tag 2 as well
They should do something similar to MWZ like how if you get disconnected from a zombies match, you lose the choice to use 2 weapon slots-one for an hour and one for 120 mins. In this case, they should lock the character you plugged with for a couple hours or something.
Using kazuya, every round is always blocking, without moving, to finally launch and make a combo that is never guaranteed cause he has no reach, looks like fighting against windmills
The rage-quitting problem is getting out of control because of how the pointing system works and the fact that you lose more points the better the player you fight. Pro players are fine, but for the average online warrior like myself, it is an awful experience playing online. There's a point in the ranks when every player better than you is making you lose too many points, and the worst players than you are quitting. Yes, super fun.

I picked up Steve in T8 and play with no volume so im chilling lol. Also the VA voiced poseidon in GOW3 and Bruz in shadow of war as well as Steve in SFxTekken so it's unliklely it's his fault considering he's kind of an all star video game VA.

I wasn't trying to list his biggest roles. Really in a lot of ways voicing a massively popular character can be a bad thing because then people just associate you with that character and you get type cast.

You earn more fight money than you think and there really isnt much to do with it at a point.
The only problem with the no limit on rank restrictions you probably gain like 50-100 points towards lower ranks compared to higher ranks close to 200-500
Heavyweight Steve should be a DLC character, that or the mysterious heavyweight he’s going to fight at the end of his story. The middleweight, lighting quick and tricky style is dope, but I always thought having a slower and more hard hitting boxer would be cool. Could be good at positioning his opponent around the arena with a command grab akin to King’s chokeslam, except as a clinch.
@JaeOfDorey He's more MMA than traditional boxing. I wouldn't be surprised if he was what Steve goes up against in the heavyweight tournament, though.

The customisation is shit in t8! It’s used to be good in tekken 5 and 6 why are we making excuses about other fighting games not having good custom? tekken should be improving these kind of basic things like customisation and pluggers it’s actually a disgrace!
It is bad though. All male characters have mostly the same custom outfits and only 3-4 out of them are good and that is it and females have the same outfits for the most part as well. When using the custom outfts i feel that i am using the same character with different head and moves and the rest of the body/physic is the same. In my opinion you either do this shit right or not do it at all. Outfit mods are far better than the custom ones in the game. So modders can do that for free but the devs can't while getting money? Adding shop was also the bad on Namco's part, the legacy outfits should be in the game, its a 60 to 70 usd game and on top of it season passes and now you have to buy outfits. I never liked that about SFV and now i hate it with Tekken as well. I used mods for these paid outfits with SFV and now i am gonna do the same with T8.
As a steve main since Tekken 4, he became my character right from his introduction. I loved learning every new stance tech that was introduced for him in every game to maximize his combo damage. At this point he is the only character with whom I can intuitively play the game without thinking about what move to use in which situation, what are the buttons I have to press. Everything just comes naturally. That being said, his new voice has singlehandedly made me drop him.
The fight currency is useless after the first 2-3 hours...that's sad, they might as well have just made everything unlockable by playing a mode. It's a poor excuse and the reason isn't because they give you too much, it's because you get literally no customization options. You can't use T8's customization as an excuse when you compare it to other fighting games when the devs have proven they have the ability and resources to create TTT2 and T6. Again, no excuses.
The damn rank selection parameters don’t even work even when you set it to within 2. Was playing last night with that setting and matched up with a Fujin Dragunov in back to back matches. I’m a Ganryu lmao

Before watching here are my problems with the game as a casual player with 300 ranked matches. 1. The single biggest problem is that the game was made around being aggressive. This is cringe and resulted in spammy, mashy, toxic, annoying characters/playstyles😢 2. Amored moves are stupid and are stupid in almost every fighting game ever. Not that they are op, its just annoying and braindead. Especially for rage arts. 3. Rage arts are too long and shouldnt have armor. They should be cool combo ender attacks that are completely unviable in neutral 4. Too easy to S+ stats, I have S+ on stats that I actually suck at. 5. First to 2, it rewards gimmicky and obnoxious gameplay. 6. Pluggers, this much is obvious 7. Too easy to rank up, especially using mashing characters. Tekken God flow chart users shouldnt exist. 8. Wish story/arcade gave more attention to the other characters
Since Tekken 7 I dont understand the armor bullshit. No matter if its on Rage Arts, Crush Arts or now Heat Engagers. Its just utter garbage and makes the game worse.. It should be gone completely. But its not gonna happen. Its there for the casuals to attract a "wider spectrum of players". And those are also those who annoy every serious player with spammy bullshit and plugging. I always said its dangerous to make a game like Tekken too beginner friendly and gatekeping is actually important to keep the quality high

Her ff2 is mid once in her stance senpai it’s either eat a mid, duck the kick as it’s high or interrupt whatever she does after the ff2 assuming it’s not her armoured move. Sidestep also works usually Mishima characters are weak to their left hope that helps a bit
What makes me mad is that all they'd need to do to stop plugging is make it so that when some one plugs or quits, the one the disconnects gets a loss and the pther gets a win. So that would remove every incentive to plugging, couse you cant save yourself from that L you're ablut to take, and you cant punish an opponent you dont like by denying their win, at the same time, people who have an unstable connection aren't overly punished and can decide to log off before getting too many free losses. Also they could periodically reset ranks of people who are reported to be notorius pluggers on video or have multiple reports in game, coff coff ltg.
The last numbered part of Tekken I played was 6. I've recently picked up 8 and customisation sucks MAJOR ass. I remember, in 6 I could make literally everyone into a Kamen Rider for example, and in 8 all I see are dumbass T-shirts, that turn your character into the plainest background character.

I play Rank with no Restrictions. It is satisfying when you beat someone in Blue when you are still yellow, but not fun the other way around lol

Yeah, the customization is far from what I was hoping it'd be. Some people are content with the "drippy" fashion designer clothes that everyone shares but I was expecting more innovation, and they managed to remove certain things that barely kept TK7 on its feet.
the wild part about the steve VA is that its the same Steve VA from before. i believe someone told him to sound like that for some reason.
I don't see anything wrong with Steve's voice, _considering his background and his past,_ I'd say his voice makes him even better. Since he was a lab experiment that didn't receive any human affection beyond Emma Kliesen, the only person who treated him with care, like an actual human being.
The fact that he grew up and STILL was able to retain a boyish innocence and an enthusiastic gung ho personality is *all the more reason to like him as he is.*
He could have been empty inside.

With Steve i get the feeling that his voice is once again an issue with voice directing. Same thing happened with the announcer who was told to sound boring in Tekken 7 story mode. That's what happened when a japanese team tries to direct voice acting of other languages. Shaheen also sound very weird.

People always forget that tekken 6 didn't even have a color wheel. I'd still say that tekken 6 has the best customization overall but it wasn't perfect. Customization seems to always take as many steps backwards as it takes forward with each new game.
It's a wild guess but I will say this: If they won't give us free wins vs pluggers, 50% if not more players will drop this game and never comeback. The higher u climb the ranks the more pluggers u meet. Like, I think I dont want to rank up anymore and I'm just Mighty Ruler

The rage-quitting problem is getting out of control because of how the pointing system works and the fact that you lose more points the better the player you fight.
Pro players are fine, but for the average online warrior like myself, it is an awful experience playing online.
There's a point in the ranks when every player better than you is making you lose too many points, and the worst players than you are quitting.

I picked up Steve in T8 and play with no volume so im chilling lol. Also the VA voiced poseidon in GOW3 and Bruz in shadow of war as well as Steve in SFxTekken so it's unliklely it's his fault considering he's kind of an all star video game VA.

Really in a lot of ways voicing a massively popular character can be a bad thing because then people just associate you with that character and you get type cast.

The middleweight, lighting quick and tricky style is dope, but I always thought having a slower and more hard hitting boxer would be cool. Could be good at positioning his opponent around the arena with a command grab akin to King’s chokeslam, except as a clinch.

Another probpem with customization is when you want to put an accessory on your character's face/head and you have to go into hair/face to be able tp zoom in and see if its good...

The customisation is shit in t8! It’s used to be good in tekken 5 and 6 why are we making excuses about other fighting games not having good custom? tekken should be improving these kind of basic things like customisation and pluggers it’s actually a disgrace!
It is bad though. All male characters have mostly the same custom outfits and only 3-4 out of them are good and that is it and females have the same outfits for the most part as well. When using the custom outfts i feel that i am using the same character with different head and moves and the rest of the body/physic is the same. In my opinion you either do this shit right or not do it at all.
Outfit mods are far better than the custom ones in the game. So modders can do that for free but the devs can't while getting money? Adding shop was also the bad on Namco's part, the legacy outfits should be in the game, its a 60 to 70 usd game and on top of it season passes and now you have to buy outfits. I never liked that about SFV and now i hate it with Tekken as well. I used mods for these paid outfits with SFV and now i am gonna do the same with T8.

As a steve main since Tekken 4, he became my character right from his introduction. I loved learning every new stance tech that was introduced for him in every game to maximize his combo damage. At this point he is the only character with whom I can intuitively play the game without thinking about what move to use in which situation, what are the buttons I have to press. Everything just comes naturally.
That being said, his new voice has singlehandedly made me drop him.

The fight currency is useless after the first 2-3 hours...that's sad, they might as well have just made everything unlockable by playing a mode. It's a poor excuse and the reason isn't because they give you too much, it's because you get literally no customization options. You can't use T8's customization as an excuse when you compare it to other fighting games when the devs have proven they have the ability and resources to create TTT2 and T6. Again, no excuses.
The damn rank selection parameters don’t even work even when you set it to within 2. Was playing last night with that setting and matched up with a Fujin Dragunov in back to back matches. I’m a Ganryu lmao
Nope they don’t seem to work especially in non busy times like weekdays during work hours, i’ve had mine set within 2 and vsed people 4,5 even 6 ranks higher, I’m in Oceania a lot smaller popularity though, i noticed i still lost a considerable amount of points too, that i was super confused about
It's garbage. I play people 2+ ranks above me 90% of the time. Then I get someone like 6 ranks under me... Set to + - 2.
Before watching here are my problems with the game as a casual player with 300 ranked matches.
1. The single biggest problem is that the game was made around being aggressive. This is cringe and resulted in spammy, mashy, toxic, annoying characters/playstyles😢
2. Amored moves are stupid and are stupid in almost every fighting game ever. Not that they are op, its just annoying and braindead. Especially for rage arts.
3. Rage arts are too long and shouldnt have armor. They should be cool combo ender attacks that are completely unviable in neutral
4. Too easy to S+ stats, I have S+ on stats that I actually suck at.
5. First to 2, it rewards gimmicky and obnoxious gameplay.
6. Pluggers, this much is obvious
7. Too easy to rank up, especially using mashing characters. Tekken God flow chart users shouldnt exist.
8. Wish story/arcade gave more attention to the other characters
Since Tekken 7 I dont understand the armor bullshit. No matter if its on Rage Arts, Crush Arts or now Heat Engagers. Its just utter garbage and makes the game worse.. It should be gone completely.
But its not gonna happen. Its there for the casuals to attract a "wider spectrum of players". And those are also those who annoy every serious player with spammy bullshit and plugging.
I always said its dangerous to make a game like Tekken too beginner friendly and gatekeping is actually important to keep the quality high

It's not plus on block. You can't hit her out of her follow ups, that's why she has an armored attack for if you do try to interrupt.

Her ff2 is mid once in her stance senpai it’s either eat a mid, duck the kick as it’s high or interrupt whatever she does after the ff2 assuming it’s not her armoured move. Sidestep also works usually Mishima characters are weak to their left hope that helps a bit

What makes me mad is that all they'd need to do to stop plugging is make it so that when some one plugs or quits, the one the disconnects gets a loss and the pther gets a win. So that would remove every incentive to plugging, couse you cant save yourself from that L you're ablut to take, and you cant punish an opponent you dont like by denying their win, at the same time, people who have an unstable connection aren't overly punished and can decide to log off before getting too many free losses. Also they could periodically reset ranks of people who are reported to be notorius pluggers on video or have multiple reports in game, coff coff ltg.
No Team Battle is my number 1 issue with the game.. Why is the best mode absent???

The last numbered part of Tekken I played was 6. I've recently picked up 8 and customisation sucks MAJOR ass. I remember, in 6 I could make literally everyone into a Kamen Rider for example, and in 8 all I see are dumbass T-shirts, that turn your character into the plainest background character.
