    As a single mom and 48 years old I am only have 12 more classes left to get my BA in Business with a Marketing certificate. I want to become an Interior Designer but the thought of going back to University and taking on more crazy loans is not something I want at my age especially. Thank you for this video! I was looking at NYIAD but to be honest it looks kind of junkie and is more expensive.

    Thanks Sarah. Great to discover this. Appreciate your tips… same reasons I chose this course.
    Think course lacks visual resources like webinars so finding you tube clips is really helpful. 🙌 appreciate ur work .
    Did u do autocad with IDI that was the one advanced thing I plan to add on.

    Hi Sarah, thank you for your honest review. This is so helpful. I am wondering also about the sketch up course. Would you recommend their class or another online course. I was looking into The Little Design Corner as well. Which one would you recommend. Thanks for your help!

      The IDI sketchup course is excellent, got me started at a beginner level. I would also recommend Sketchup Hub - you can use my referral link to take the beginner bundle course: sketchuphub.com/course/sketchup-bundle-interior-design-floor-plan/?wpam_id=285

    Hey, this was very informative! Quick question, I can’t seem to find this answer anywhere. With IDI being accredited in only DDA-specifically for Canada, does that ultimately mean I won’t be recognized and/or qualified to work outside of Canada. I primarily work in Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia and was hoping to apply for an agency in one of those states. I assume it’ll just depend on the firm, but wanted to ask incase you have some insight on this. Thanks!

    • @SarahAdnan
      @SarahAdnan  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for watching - IDI is an internationally recognized course and I believe they collaborate with various associations from different countries for accreditations. I would recommend emailing their support team and they'll be able to confirm your questions regarding where you are located.

    Thanks for the video! I've been looking into IDI so this has been very helpful. I have two questions: A) How long is the course? and B) The certificate is only valid in Canada? I am in the US so I am wondering if it's a course for Canada residents only. Thanks again!

    • @SarahAdnan
      @SarahAdnan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a flexible course so you choose how fast or slow you want to complete it but it must be finished within 2 years. It's an international course so I believe US has it's own version

    Hi Sarah, is one able to access all the 12 modules upon enrollment, or are the modules locked and only accessible sequentially after completing them one by one?
    Also, what is the cost of an advanced module such as AutoCAD or Sketchup? Are there any free design softwares that one can use instead?
    Thanks much 💕

  • @ArtfulLifeByCourtney

    I looked into this, but I thought in Canada to call yourself an Interior Designer (as opposed to a decorator) you needed to understand building codes, laws etc and pass extensive testing... which requires a four-year degree (CIDA only lists a Bachelor)... so how does this program allow you to call yourself an Interior Designer if it is just a certificate? Algonquin College has a Bachelor of Interior Design and a Certificate in Interior Decorating for example.

    • @SarahAdnan
      @SarahAdnan  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that’s correct, and for that reason I made a detailed video on the schools in Canada that offer a degree of design which then qualify you to take the NCIDQ exam. th-cam.com/video/RpeWOebjr0g/w-d-xo.htmlsi=S2JlTkNtTtnohV_o
      The requirements of a designer are listed on ARIDO.ca which is your best source. This video is more of a review of the course I took for those also interested in taking it.

    Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing this video. But, I and many others had such a different experience with IDI. If you are talking about the institute in California, it is the worst one there is. Not updated, instructors don't teach you everything and you are on your own once you complete the program. As opposed to others who went to community colleges or other Interior Design school. Also, it was very expensive.

    • @SarahAdnan
      @SarahAdnan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm that's interesting, it could be that the IDI course I took is not the same one as what you are referring to - it was fairly inexpensive and maybe the Canadian version is different from the one you have in California

    • @mayam9901
      @mayam9901 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey! I was confused about this too, there are two different institutions. One is "Interior Designers Institute" in California. The other one is "The Interior Design Institute" which has an online program thats like a certification, not a bachelors degree. This is the one she is talking about in the video. Similar names but different things.
