  • Marines with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, conduct underwater egress training at the Water Survival Training Center on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California.
The training, also known as the helo dunker, is a lifesaving course that provides all service members with the skills and confidence to successfully and safely evacuate a submerged helicopter.

Honest guys when I was about 10 years old that actually happened to me I jumped into a pool that was a 1/2 foot over my head and I could not swim and when I sunk almost started to panic but when my foot touched bottom and I leaped up and grabbed air it occurred to me I could frog out knew I had it got to the side. I Thank God he let my mind understand that I didn't panic maybe you guys experisnced and overcame something remember those little victories. have fun! As a son of a Marine a good Faithful dad I know you all have the MENTALITY right? MARINES Thanks for your service!

I was proud to be on the team that prepared and was a rescue swimmer for such exercises.

Not as easy as it looks especially when you got some jarhead kicking you in the face because they freak out under water 😂🤣 30yrs ago we did not wear all that safety gear 🤦‍♂️🤣

Yea I was thinking the same thing. When I was in 40 years ago I was a rescue guard for these and we did not have any of this safety gear these Marines are given today.

I think it depends on your unit, we did it a while back and didn't wear safety gear

@@frankenstein5386 Yea this was only done on Main side Camp Pendleton when I was there teaching water survival. I often spoke up about how ignorant it was to only have this training where 90% of the Marines were nothing but office pogies and the REAL Marines in the outer camps never had any of it. Hell most of the outer camps dont even have a pool, at least they didnt when I was in! Then when I went to Okinawa and was NCO in charge of pools we never had a single training day and I thought that was super bizarre since we was on this small rock surrounded by water on an island that has a deep history of water based incursions. Its clear the Marine corp only do this for PR and dont implement it where its really needed!
