I’m only 20 and i don’t know that much about Meryl Streep. and here i am watching all of meryl streep movies and videos. i feel like Meryl Streep is one of the most talented actresses EVER. and that tribute is really really heartfelt.

I just love this line.
I think her acting is superior directly because of the way she really inhabits her character. She clearly has a deep sense of empathy and love for human beings that is a rarity among actors who generally tend to be self centered narcissists.
Meryl Streep is just the best actress and anyone who thinks otherwise should rethink EVERYTHING. Meryl is my role model. she deserves every single award that she has ever won. She is so beautiful and the best at what she does.

soz but "fierce independence" dont be fooled by film roles and real life you should read her bio. she chose to devote herself to an alcoholic man who refused to divorce his wife (Spencer Tracy) and belittled her in front of their friends including sitting at his feet after dinner parties.
Personally I have no problem if a woman chose to allow herself to be treated like and I still love some of her films but I dont quite get the connection between being fond of one actress and finding it a reason to be rude about a great actress

What i am trying to say is that Kate had a lot of hardships and she managed to surpass them and become a great screen legend and most importantly, a greatest human being.of living independently among actors in general. Furthermore, I know she has her weaknesses but she still has such forceful energy to live on, crafting more greater performances. It is her spirit that shines here.
By constrast, Meryl is just a mediocre "fine" example of the scheming actress and opportunist - human being. Her life had nothing for other actresses to learn from except for being opportunists. In fact, I am not talking about ""inspiration"" or "talents" because without a doubt, to become a successful one, you have to be talented and skillful enough to get on.
In short, she is still not worth being admired because of just making use of the resources "available" from other actresses to make it become hers.
Above all, KH should be taken much more credit in a capacity as a "human being" than the other. Hail her !!!

I love Meryl.She's a really passionate woman and puts a lot of effort into her work.Not one movie have I seen that she is horrible at.Every single movie is just amazing with her in it.She deserved all this.
Meryl Streep is truly a legend of our time. As said here, has not only a tremendous body of work, but demonstrates excellence in everything she does, as well as seeming to be a really good, funny, compassionate person. There are very few actors that both of these things can apply to.
One exception for me was "Ricki and the flash". I HATED that movie.

Meryl Streeps performances onscreen transcend acting and they reveal to us the powerful experience of being human in the deepest ways possible....She often times reveal emotions onscreen that humans have inside but don't always bring to the surface. Through her acting she has the ability to make the human experience more visible to us. AND for that she simply is THE GREASTEST ACTRESS OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Meryl is an important women in our American life. In the world. She's good at what she does. I think she is the best at what she does. She honors all of us with her excellence. And it reflects on all of us. It elevates us all. Thank you. So good she is. So watchable she is. And because of film, she will always be able to elevate us forever. And how great is that.

True. She represents fine quality of this culture. As she was invited to Shanghai Movie Festival to serve as a jury she learned Chinese. This type of attitude, dedication, and professionalism sets an example to everyone she meets. She earns respect for her and for the culture she represents.

This is great it's a "Prada" reunion on stage.
In every scence she has two jobs. The first is her own performance which is always breath taking. The second one is stabalizing the other actor who is having a nervous breakdown because the are in a scene with Meryl Streep. 😄 For real.

I loved how she enjoyed the entire program. She sits looking like a child with wide eyed interest, really happy to be there and occasionally looking at the other recipients as they're being honored as if to see if they're enjoying it as much as she.
Meryl is the reason I wanted to act and still do. I love her so much.

There is a reason why Meryl Streep is named the greatest actress of all time. It's not just her ability to master almost any accent it's the way she dives so deep down into each character that she plays she puts her heart and soul into every single role. She deserves every award she has there will never be another Meryl!

When I saw her in The Cherry Orchard....for $4....I knew she would be a major star. She just glowed.
I was fortunate enough to see Meryl Streep in 1977's The Cherry Orchard as well. She was absolutely mesmerizing. It was impossible to watch anyone but her when she was on stage.
I remember telling my fellow drama majors that she was going to be very famous one day. I am so thrilled -- but not surprised -- by her amazing success. And I am so impressed by her successful personal life and integrity as well.
Meryl Streep is one of the greatest of all time, love watching her on screen and follow her public works off screen.
She is the most talented and beautiful actress of our generation. I am glad I got to see her craft.

I just realized that Meryl Streep has one hell of a year in 2011/2012 in then award season. In reference to Tracy Ullman, Meryl won the Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA for her profound performance as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady. I didn't know she was honored at the Kennedy Year during the same season. Meryl Streep is truly won of the greatest actresses and I foresee that she carry on with an amazing and successful career. I believe Meryl can tie Katherine Hepburn with a record number of 4 Academy Awards! We believe in you Meryl Streep. Eat. Sleep. Meryl Streep.

I had a dream Christmas night w/Meryl Streep in it. Odd. We were walking...talking about organizing our lives in 2012. Then, I just googled her & came across this!!! I had no idea she was honored. I actually spent this day in the ER. It's been such a rough year battling cancer & lyme. But in a good way, it has slowed me down to watch A LOT of film. Meryl Streep is truly one of the most beautiful, talented, & caring souls in the world. Her reward already came when she was born into this world.
Meryl has also transported me through her magic during the most difficulty times. It's not about her transformation. It's about where we end up after watching her performances.
I loved it. Such an amazing woman. I decided to learn English just because of her. She's my inspiration. Thanks for sharing this. I've watched every single movie she's been in.
Let me say that it takes a lot to impress me, but Meryl does it flawlessly. But being able to speak and write more than one language is also impressive! And I mean REALLY impressive! Bravo and a standing ovation to you!

Meryl is so amazing! I ADORE her in every way. We were once talking to an actor after a play and she walked up and introduced herself! Was the one time in life I was tongue-tied to meet a celeb. Because I love her in everything, She is just such a real person. No airs.

If you watch Meryl Streep play the character, Helen Archer, in the GREAT motion picture "Ironweed", also starring Jack Nicholson, you will have to agree that she is definitely one of the GREATEST actresses of all time !

I had the privilege of seeing Ms. Streep in the Central Park Shakespeare in the Park production of "King Lear" in which she played alongside James Earl Jones. No one had ever heard of her and on seeing her name in the playbill, I recall voicing my considered opinion that she wouldn't get far with a name like Streep. By the end of the play, I was in awe of her. I knew I had just seen the birth of a force to be reckoned with.
From the moment I saw Streep on stage in the mdi 70's, I knew I was seeing magic...and have seen much more since then. She has no peer. No one even comes close.

When an actress completely disappears in the character she is playing it is a joy to watch.....I put Meryl in the same category with Bette Davis and Gena Rowlands, who are also amazing and my favorite actresses as well.....I can't think of a single movie where Meryl didn't give it her all.....I look forward to each movie role she plays.... loved it when Kevin Kline starts to speak and when the other fellow actors who worked with Meryl spoke....so sweet and funny 👍 💜 💜 💜 💜

Indeed, for over 40 years, there has been a TRUE ACTRESS, THE MOST TALENTED, THE MOST LOVED and (on merit) THE MOST PRAISED by all those who love and know what "Artistic Film" is .... this actress is MERYL STREEP .... there are a few other great actresses who have asserted themselves in time in special movies, but (maybe I'm subjective) no other actress is worth the artistic talent of Meryl Streep .... thank God that I am contemporary with this great DIVA of world cinema .... to be nominated 17 times for the famous OSCAR is a performance that has never been and will never be in cinema .... Had the amazing luck to see her in "Taming of the Shrew" at Central Park's Delacorte (with the late, great Raul Julia)oh so many moons ago when she we fresh out of drama school....you knew immediately she was a MAJOR talent... her star was that apparent.
I think I have seen EVERY film of hers!!! Not only is she an amazing actress, but she chooses some really fine films in which to appear. Has she ever had a miss?
Even if the movie wasn't outstanding,her performances always elevate it.

I had the good fortune to wait on Meryl Streep and her family at a restaurant i worked at in Salisbury Connecticut years ago. (About 1999 I think) she was down to earth and warm. When I told her how her scene in the Library in Sophies Choice brought me to tears to told me that the actor who played the librarian in that scene was her best friend from college. I felt comfortable talking with her unlike some other celebrities i met thru thr years. She truly is a national treasure. A class act.

I am American Movies Film Historian and Filmmaker because of that.
It is what I admired from the Americans all my life: that sensation of not having a profile of arrogance but treating the tribute with elegance, sense of humor, without any vanity or whatsoever.
Formidable in every way.
This includes the camera operator and director, who takes Kevin Kline saying to Hathaway a kind of
'Well done' (you can read his lips), absolutely spontaneous and out of any kind of rehearsal.
Even that, it is formidable (Hathaway was extraordinary).
Organization, education, grace, talent...
The greatness I always loved.
