Unbelievable, I've never heard the song, it sounds like 70's Hard Rock and I love the Moog-like keyboard sound. The lyrics are a reworked version of the poem "Mitternacht" (midnight), released by Till in his book "In stillen Nächten" (in silent nights).
Fun Fact: This song has only been played live ONE TIME: And that was for the Premiere Stadium Tour on 5/27/28/2019 in Gelsenkirchen (Germany). Shame really, for such a brilliant song!😫😫😫

The metaphorical imagery in the song is just great. "Paints his colors into her picture" describes how he imagines being with her at that moment.
