    I absolutely despise elitist snobs in any hobby. There's not a single thing that deters new people from entering a hobby like elitists that forgot that, not so long ago, they were newbies themselves. Well done on this video, from a really experienced 3D printing enthusiast 😁

    Just a note, Elegoo tech support is AWSOME. I had a fast response and they got the problems fixed and new parts shipped out quick. I have 2 Neptune 2S one was new the other was used and had some missing parts. I sent a list of the missing parts and Tech Support rocked the house with speedy delivery. Elegoo supports their products. Hard to go wrong with what every printer size you choose.

    13:28: There are actually reasons to get smaller printers other than space and money for the initial cost of the printer.
    1. Larger heatbeds will probably take longer to heat up, and almost certainly need more power to heat up/maintain heat.
    2. Bigger printers are almost always slower than smaller printers. At least, that's what the Voron community seems to say about the size options for the Voron 2.4, because the weight of the moving parts limits acceleration, and acceleration controls how quickly you can reach your top speed. And this is even worse for bedslingers like the Neptunes. In addition, I'm fairly sure that ringing/ghosting will be worse on bigger printers.
    3. In addition to the cost of the printer, replacement print surfaces at sizes beyond the standard 235x235 are more expensive. And I'm pretty confident that bigger beds will probably warp more than smaller beds, so thank goodness they'll come with a mesh probe. But the N3 Pro uses a 6x6 mesh, the N3 Pro uses 7x7, and the N3 Max uses 8x8. So the N3 max will probably take almost twice as long to probe (64 isn't quite double 36). And the N3 Pro is probing pretty slow by my standards, although I'm using a souped-up Neptune 2S with Klipper, a BLTouch, really fast Z and X/Y speeds.
    4. Thanks to the popularity of Ender 3 and clones, most printers on the market are 235x235, so most people designing models keep that in mind when printing them.
    TL;DR unless you have specific things in mind that are larger than 230x230, the majority of people probably won't use the extra space. Bigger isn't always better, it's just bigger.

    Hi there! As someone who is after getting into 3D printing, and is looking for a good beginner printer, I have been working through reviews on TH-cam, trying to find a good printer, that is fairly easy to use for a newbie, that isn't going to cost me the earth! I was considering the Prusa Mini +, as I have heard that they are easy for beginners, but I was put off by the cost and the small bed size. However, your review of the Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro now puts this at the top of my consideration list - not too expensive, pretty easy to get started with, and with a better sized bed! Thanks for your great review and I will keep an eye on your channel in the future! 👍
    Just as an aside, I am into N gauge model railways (1/160th scale!) so will probably be buying a resin printer too at some time, but an FDM printer will give me a chance to get used to designing stuff myself - and I will probably be printing fun bits and pieces for me and my 10 year old nephew! 😅

    Love this video!! I am in the same boat... Printed resin and miniatures and had great results... PLA has always been a "get around to it" one day.... Things like cosplay weapons etc and scenery, I was always happy to wait... Now this looks like the sort of printer for a PLA newbie like me, so ordered a pro, and super keen to have a play! If all goes well, max or whatever evolution is around, would be next cause 'I like to print big things' too ... hahaha... and then I can use the pro for smaller objects... Did you have to play around with the temp settings at all or is that pretty much the same for any PLA ?

      Filament is easier to work with, more durable. Resin is faster to print , much higher details but more complex, more toxic, not durable and smaller print size. So yes you are right but it's more to it.

    • @FauxHammer

      exactly that, but there's the finish benefit too when it comes to models. FDM prints are full of layer lines, even at the lowest layer heights, resin all but eradicates layers.

    Hello. It's seem that nobody here note this : the point zero is not in the center of the bed (is on the right and on the front). During the calibration the head begin outside the bed at right and finish 3 cm into the bed at left. It's very strange. Someone can explain me?

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  ปีที่แล้ว

      The nozzle is touching the bed. That’s the middle of the print head and the important part to touch the plate.
      The nozzle is not in the middle of the print head. It’s to the left side

    This was a great video! I've had an Ender 3 for a couple years and it's forced me to learn all the ins and outs of filament printers. I finally had an issue (layer shifting because the motherboard overheats after a couple hours) that caused me to ask "why am I having to do so much troubleshooting just to get this thing to work at a base level?"
    I have an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro and the "it just works" level of functionality in it made me decide to look at Elegoo's FDM offerings. Your demonstration of being able to "just print" once you got the proper filament is exactly what I want in an FDM printer! Can't wait for it to show up.

    Have you tried Bambulab's X1(Carbon), or P1P? I'm willing to bet money that either of these are more deserving of the title of "Absolute Beginner Friendly".

    • @FauxHammer
      @FauxHammer  ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope I reached out to Bambulabs and had no response. I can't imagine that price point is beginner friendly and from what I've seen on other reviews. it's a bit proprietary with some refinements to make to the firmware still.
      Would love to test one out, but sadly it's not in budget.

    • @mctazman407
      @mctazman407 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FauxHammer I've backed them with the AMS, so yeah... Price I can understand... But it's comparable to buying a computer to play games and buying a console. Computer can be cheaper, yet the console's more beginner friendly and easier to start with.
      Now... The computer can be vastly more powerful, no doubt. Yet that either takes a lot more skill, or a lot more money.
      In the end, the Bambulab saves me a lot of filament through a HELL of a lot less failed prints. Add the vastly superior speed, which allows me to print quicker, it is a viable financial descision for me. But I really encourage you to check out the many reviews (or the videos on my channel) and see for yourself. I would recommend Uncle Jessy's channel, as he had a horrendous time with his. :D
