Hey Shesez! Do you think that the blue tower in the pokemon stage could be Pokemon Heartgold's (Released in 1999) Goldrenrod Radio Tower? I'd like to give you some links but if you just google Pokemon radio tower there are some images you might find interesting! Thought it's worth a shot :)

    • @BoundaryBreak
      @BoundaryBreak  8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

interestingly other viewers have deduced that its probably the Tokyo tower during new years. Or heavily influenced by it.
doing the google image search, id say the goldenrod tower doesnt quite look like the one in the vidoe. But since the games are so old, it could be the very same tower just with no visual correlation

The only problem with your theory is that Gen III was not out yet when they made Melee. And even if it was, the Battle Tower on the GBA games was cylindrical and not shaped like a Radio Tower.
      Jeremy's the one right here.

    • @Cyborger1
      @Cyborger1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Rinnosuke Morichika Yeah you're right, I assumed Gen 3 was already released when Melee came out, I just didn't realize Melee originally released in 2001, I feel old now.
Besides, I also realized the image I grabbed was from the Destiny Deoxis movie which came out in 2004/2005 so it's even more off based on that.
Also Jeremy's one looks much closer, so I think he deserves all the points.

If someone could strip the select screen out (No characters, text, or whatever ) and left the background animated, it would be a great screensaver or background for a Windows 10 PC.

That blue tower looks like a radio tower, which is in pokemon gold and silver. Since the game is reminiscent of that time, im pretty sure thats what it is. Also IF you change the language of the game and go back into the trophy room, the consoles and games change to the japanese version, and there is a dummy cartridge of smash bros on the super famicom.

I like how the All-Star mode's hub world background bares a striking resemblance to Windows XP's Bliss wallpaper image, which coincidentally came out the same year, 2001. Good times.
...well good times except for 9/11 which was fucking horrible, but you get the idea.

  • @StarTropicsKing

I'm willing to bet that the stage takes place in Goldenrod City, and the blue tower is the radio tower. But holy crap, this is one thing I love about most GameCube games is the amount of attention to details. We just saw the details in Melee, there's Double Dash with all different tracks in the background of other tracks. we can make a map of where all the tracks in DD are located! Super Mario Sunshine, you're able to see almost all the levels from Definitely Plaza! It just amazes me, the amount of work put into every single tiny detail, no matter how insignificant.

    SINCE YOU ASKED!
That rotating banner at 4:22 in the Mute City level. That image is actually the album cover of the F-Zero X Guitar Arrange. It's an album of select songs from F-Zero X (n64), but remastered with real guitar, drums, bass, keys, (and in the staff roll song, piano and sax). It's a wicked album and wicked cover. So crazy they would render that in there.

You've got a lovable personality and a clear passion for what you do. I've been watching more and more of your boundary breaks recently, and I love them a lot! For the same reasons you do, no less. I have some advice for future editions though.
    1) Format these videos. Make a clear, formatted script. It provides foundation and easily organizes a video that's made to explore the complex inner-workings of a game.
    2) I know you like to point out 1 or 2 few interesting things in each level, but honestly, opening each level with an expansive view of just how much they contain would be awesome. You had a lot of opportunities to do this with your SM64 vid, and didn't pull through unfortunately. That game specifically has a lot of great level designs that must look amazing when zoomed out (proven when you showcased Tick-Tock Clock).
    3) DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE VIDEO BEING TOO LONG. If you're interesting - and you most definitely are - then people are going to watch your video! Again, you have a very welcoming personality and a very enticing concept to work with here. You very clearly put in a lot of work into your vids, and I can't thank you enough for that, because this is truly an awesome series. These are, more or less, ways to polish your videos. I hope you take them into consideration for future vids, if you haven't already. Subscribed :)

You can get on top of that wall on Adventure Level 1, without using items or being hit at the perfect direction. Here is samus doing it: gfycat.com/IncompatibleEverlastingCrayfish
Mario, Y.Link, Link (1.00 only), Peach and Puff can all make it there.
Also on the f-zero adventure stage, where you run to the finish, there is an invisible wall on the far left. Which is much taller than the mushroom kingdom wall, but some of those characters can also reach the top.

The door you focused on in the Hyrule Temple stage is the gate you exit at the end of a Temple in Zelda II when you clear said Temple.
I never noticed that before, but that's an awesome touch to the Hyrule Temple stage (even if the overall stage is very loosely based off the Zelda II Temples, not that I'm complaining).

If y'all didn't know, you can use the C-Stick on the menus to rotate the screen slightly which is why they were modeled in 3D. The same works in Brawl on Wii if you're using a controller with a second joystick like the GameCube controller or the Pro Controller IIRC.

For the NES Power/Reset buttons, it is far enough away from the camera that it doesn't make sense to have additional art created, so it uses the same texture that is already used on the lid- most likely they just slapped in a UVW coordinate for the same texture to overlay and it looked fine at the system's resolution, so they perhaps never noticed that they had inverted the coordinates so it showed up in reverse.

Pretty much the same story for me; kept seeing Boundary Break pop up in my Recommended feed, finally sat my butt down to watch it (right about the same time you did, judging by the time stamp of your comment... weird...) and yea, this series is everything I hoped it would be.
I'm the kind of player who puts in noclip cheats on fps games just to pretty much do what Shesez is doing with these games; poke around outside the level and see what's there. I've found some interesting stuff in Serious Sam 2 doing that, and the architecture of the original Half-Life takes on a whole new perspective when you step outside of the levels.

I love your videos! My favorite part is that I get to see into the framework and blueprints of the Nintendo Team's brilliant minds. My favorites like Mario 64 & Majora's Mask came out so long ago but we continue to find new things. My favorite was the part where Majora's Mask was hiding deep under ground during the opening cut scene with skull kid & Link.
Could you make a video explaining just how you are able to "Boundary Break" all these games? I would understand if you only boundary broke Nintendo 64 games but how do you have the versatility and skill set to essentially "Break" all these games on different consoles. Of course we the audience would need it to be broken down and explained like we are all 5 year olds =P
    Keep it up

Just discovered your series and I've got to say, I'm absolutely loving it! i was wondering if you could do one of the Monster Hunter games, and maybe Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater as well? there are some areas in that game that only appear for a couple of cutscenes, like the cemetery at the end, and the areas you escape through on motorcycle always whizz by so fast, seeing them at a distance would be great

I wouldn't mind a re-visit of this game. Melee has a lot of secrets that you can see with moving the camera around, including inside the trophies and in the beta stages.

Not sure if anyone said it, but in the Temple stage, the two background buildings are the Notre Dame Cathedral and the Parthenon.

Getting better with the camera presence here, seems like a lower quality camera than the last one though. (No peter?) I'm going to overlook the slightly rambling talking (try scripting!) and still using clips for your genuine enthusiasm and glee at finding what these stages look like. This kind of honest dedication and reaction shows you're a true fan, also I'm quite impressed at the true forms of the stage you've revealed! Next video!

Subscribed. These are great, examining the little details from the developers. I love it, please do one for Wind Waker, especially of the underwater Hyrule...there's a LOT too see, I've always wished I could traverse it myself. There's also a lot in Ocarina of Time 3D, as they went the extra mile to detail scenery that's not included in the original on the N64, especially in the land surrounding Death Mountain Trail. Keep doing what you're doing, this is awesome man.

Also, you know how in the Stage Selection Screen every stage has like a little model with the icon of the series it belongs to, which then changed to a mini model of the map EXCEPT "Random"? Well, turns out "Random" also has a model like those but it's outside the display's boundaries.

Wow! That tower is a reference to Pokemon Crystal version that used a cellphone service to play other Japanese players "online" by having player data transfer over a device that connected Pokemon Crystal to your cellphone.
The symbol for it was a blue radio tower

The strategy in the collection room is actually for Smash Bros on the N64, since it uses a similar style as well as all of the N64 game's character portraits

  • @crashandcortex

I'm assuming you already knew this, but the stage select screen background is actually taken from Smash Bros. 64's menu screens! Found it out while looking through with DAT Texture Viewer.
