- Organist Rob Charles Plays The Hymn "Nearer My God To Thee" To The Tune "Bethany" On The Conacher Organ At All Saints Church Oystermouth In Swansea, This is a recent request I had from Arthur "SilverStarTrucker" and Beany so I hope they enjoy it and I'm sure you will all out there will to Cheers Rob!
A New updated version:
• Nearer My God To Thee ... - เพลง
This hymn played on the organ, truly depicts the longing of the soul to be near its creator in eternity.
Thanks.
Gentlemen, it has been a privilege playing with you tonight...
I like that quote from the Actor who played Wallace Hartley in 1997’s Titanic.
Gentlemen, it has been a privilege playing here with you tonight
-Wallace Hartley, 1912
:-)
The Titanic sank, with most of her passengers and crew, their lungs filled with icy saltwater, their eyes open, staring into the darkness as they sank into the depths.
@@tonybarde2572 That is what happened, however death is but a bridge for which we use to go home to the house that our father hath built for us.

@Johnstrong Ok
A wonderful hymn beautifully played. The choir sang it at my grandfather's funeral 13 years ago and the church organ played it at my nan's funeral one week ago 🌹.
This hymn is part of my life and will be hopefully part of my funeral one day.
Thank you for sharing with us and RIP dear Nan❤️🙏
Many thanks - sorry to hear of your loss.
@@RobCharles1981 thank you 🙏.
Always liked listening to your playing. You're very talented.
Thank you, Rob. This was my maternal grandmother's favorite hymn. It symbolized her faith and trust in the Almighty, and the hope she entertained of Life everlasting.
Even to this day I can still hear her sing this to me, as if I were still the little boy I once was, and its words and melody help me, as it did for her. May God richly bless and keep you safe in His care! Thank you for a wonderful memory, and for your artistry.

i could cry listening to this
Thanks very much!
I could listen to to this one hymn over and over again I want to this at my funeral when I go
Be My Guest!
Me too
This was the Hymn that was played when The R.M.S. Titanic was sinking. It was the last song the band, lead by Wallace Hartley, the Bandmaster, ever played before they died in the sinking.
Yes Indeed!
I wonder if the 700 odd people in the Lifeboats were singing along with those still on board. I certainly would’ve been singing along!
Rob thank you for this beautiful hymn. As I listen to you play it I am reminded of what The Lord is doing in my life to prepare me to minister to others in the near future
Thanks Patty!
I definitely want this played at my funeral and I'm not even religious
Cheers for that - I reckon it would be good!
Truly wonderful!
Many thanks!
Beautyful song
This give me peace❤❤
Thanks!
@@RobCharles1981 youre welcome mister ! 😊
When I hear you playing this lovely old Hymn, Rob, I'm remembering 31st March 2015, when my brother-in-law was laid to rest. It was a bitterly cold day at Macduff Parish Church, Banffshire, perched high above the Sea, and a slight snowfall as we reached the Cemetery. Just before the Service was due to start, Mrs Eleanor Wilson, the Organist, played over the 1st Verse. It sounded so nice, Rob. We sang "By Cool Siloam's Shady Rill" and "Will Your Anchor Hold?" These I've requested for when my own time comes. Thank you, Rob. God bless. Charlie, Aberdeen.
Thanks Charlie!
Whoever disliked this video is just a big jerk. Its just messed up to dislike such a great video

Many thanks!
Just found this one today, very nice. Thanks
Rob. I don't know what it is but something always touches me deeply when I hear "Nearer My God to Thee" sung to "Bethany", the Tune in "Sacred Songs & Solos." In some ways, it reminds me on a Scots Air. Can't express it, Rob. It's just beautiful. You played it so well. God bless. Charlie, Aberdeen.
Thank you for such a wonderful recording of this beautiful music.
Incredibly well-played. Though not being a man of faith, I must admit to shedding a tear.

I like this Conacher as well - beautiful instrument, although many condescending perfectionists scorn this brand name. We also had a Conacher at our old Methodist church, which sounded wonderful like this one.

Best organ rendition of this song on TH-cam to this day.

Hello Rob I love this hymn. I have subscribed to your channel and made a playlist of your videos to listen to them often to get used to the different sounds. Please can you tell me which stops you used for this hymn? I am learning how to play the organ and I am listening to your playing for practice for stops! I also love another piece you play, Fanfares with promenades by Rosalie Benighton... beautiful! Cheers!
Love hearing these songs we don't get to hear the organ at are church right now because of the fact that are organist died and it also needs fixed
Thanks - hope you can get the Organ Fixed!

RMS Titanic - requiescat in pace
Did that guy who said you could not play give you any more trouble???
This hymn sounds really nice on this pipe organ. Just wish that the Titanic's orchestra had a pipe organ and played this hymn on it as it sunk instead of their violins. Every time I hear this hymn, I think of the Titanic.
Thanks for that it's much appreciated! :-)
Anytime. :)
I love this song, but to be honest it is played a tad too fast for me.
Titanic anyone?
Yes Please!
