This happens to many folks in minority communities... Even in "beautiful Singapore", being a minority is not easy. And I'm glad you found your way and thank you for sharing your experience with us, coz yes, it is inspiring.
You should be happy and proud of what, who you are! Don't consider it your problem that others have racist tendencies, it's them who have the problem. I find you both beautiful and amazing!
I remember when my parents first came to australia, you couldnt give away free sushi if you owned a japanese restaurant. Now australians eat more sushi than japanese do 😂
I'm A wog born in the 80's have moved to the Geelong area. There are lots of white racist Aussies here, so I still experience racism from white people to this day.
I can relate on this for my parents i the late 60s and 70s which the Aussies labelled most of the croatians Italians Greeks as wogs which is a racist slur back then
We wouldn't have so many things if it wasn't for our Vietnamese culture coming here. Surfing came back with heroin from the war, influenced the people that started Rip Curl and Billabong.
It's sad on how the Vietnamese were treated in the 70s, 80s, 90s and still happens today. Unfortunately at the time Australia open the boarders to Vietnam, Australia still believed in being a "White Australia". And saying Viets do not assimilate. Think about how the Viets felt, trying to adapt in a new country that is nowhere familiar to what they are used to. I recommend people to watch. Some parts may be a bit sad for some viewers. That's strange. I wanted to be Asian so I could score higher than 500 on my math SATs.
