"Prisoners of the past..." EAM Jaishankar's blunt message to UN at G20 2nd Foreign Ministers Meeting

- External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar emphasized India's views on three key areas of global governance reform at the 2nd G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting. Firstly, he stressed the need to reform the United Nations, citing its failure to adapt to the evolving multi-polar world, resulting in its inability to maintain international peace and stability. He advocated for expansion in both categories of UN membership, particularly emphasizing proper representation for Asia, Africa, and Latin America.Secondly, Jaishankar highlighted the need to reform the international financial architecture, focusing on urgent development challenges and climate change. He emphasized that Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) must be made more robust and effective to address the estimated $4 trillion annual financing gap for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).Lastly, Jaishankar reaffirmed India's commitment to a rules-based, non-discriminatory, and fair multilateral trading system, with the World Trade Organization (WTO) at its core. He called for comprehensive WTO reform, ensuring a level playing field, fair competition, and a fully operational dispute settlement mechanism.
Jaishankar concluded by emphasizing the need for bold, transformative action to address these challenges, urging the G20 to drive this change for a more equitable and inclusive future.

I think this communication from the Indian side summarises the situation aptly.Any organisation with an open mind and willingness to improve will start implementing immediately.
This man is biting more than he can chew for a very long time, without realising that his rants yield ZERO outcome/benefit for India as his smart counterparts like to massage his ego by letting him believe his arrogant speech makes him look smart. His smart counterparts keep him appear smart in his own eyes by not answering him back while doing the same thing they had been doing earlier.

You got it all wrong. I wonder what part of Dr. SJ's speech is unlikeable. He is not ranting: he is just speaking of Indian perspective as leader of Quad and G20. He is a distinguished rep of our government and is widely respected everywhere he goes. Smart counterparts? Who? He gets along well with all current foreign ministers including Anthony Blinken (USA), Lavrov (Russia) and others. No wonder he was hand-picked by PM Modi. He is so far the best EAM India ever had. If you think otherwise, then there is something wrong with you.
